Came to Lady Burra for a drink in the afternoon on a Wed in December before the holidays and it was packed! Not sure if there are offices nearby but was surprised how crowded it was on a work day. We originally wanted the IPAs but they were out of stock unfortunately. We went with the pale ales. They were just alright as we didn't think they had much flavor. My husband got an order of chicken wings and I had a few and thought they were average. Not much seasoning on them and although they had been marinated there wasn't really a flavor. Review update... As is the case with many other people I have spoken to, I was sucked in by the idea of Lady Burra. A brew house in the city! What's not to like? After visiting on their opening night, I heard whisperings of bad service, refusal of entry for no good reason and people being pushed out when they had booked. I experienced this all first hand on Saturday, plus more. The biggest let down was when I was poured a nasty dirty end of the keg beer, which I then tried to return but was told "that's how it is" and "it's the same beer". No it wasn't. My friends were drinking clear IPA's while I got what we called the "poo beer". To top it off, the bartenders refused to take it back and I had to buy a new beer for $11. They probably pored the beer I gave back to them into the next keg. Also, we were at our booked table - which wasn't big enough for all of us, and were asked to get off the next table. When the group for that table arrived, they realised that it was too small for them too, and moved along. Probably to a better venue with decent beer. Thanks for ruining a friends 40th guys. You have really bad attitudes and pretty average beer. read more

Another new addition to Adelaide's West End. The new microbrewery makes use of previously wasted, valuable real estate space in the heart of the CBD, perfect for the post-work suits (although is only open until 7pm Monday-Wednesday). Lady Burra reminded us instantly of the Little Creatures Dining Hall on Brunswick Street in Melbourne. The exposed pipelines, wooden decor and industrial feel nails the current faux-dishevelled hipster movement. The staff fit the establishment well, and the addition of artwork by graffiti/street artist Vans the Omega along entrance walk into the brewery also catches the eye. We went to Lady Burra on a Saturday for lunch. Having never been to the brewhouse before, we opted for the 5/6 dishes assortment. We were presented with three Portuguese petiscos (tapas) and two pizzas. The tapas we received were grilled octopus with potatoes and beans, marinaded ribs with broccolini and cod fish cakes with a rice and tomato, rice and bean bed. The octopus was a little dry and overdone, but the ribs were lovely and spicy (as you'd expect from Portuguese) and the fish cakes and rice mixture was fantastic. The pizzas were okay. Nothing particularly amazing but there was nothing bad about them either. I preferred the margherita to the sausage, capsicum and olive pizza however. Credit where credit is due though, the pizza bases were spot on. I'm not a huge beer drinker, and opted for wine instead. However, my eye was drawn to the cocktails list, all of which include one of the on-site brewed beers. I reckon these might be worth a try. We walked out completely full and satisfied with everything. Definitely worth another visit, perhaps next time on a Friday after work. Would be perfect for after-work drinks. read more

Well, my first day in Adelaide and I discovered that this place had opened up across the way where there was, well, nothing here before, so when I finished I decided to head straight here and check it out. I must say that I was pretty impressed since in every aspect this is a craft beer bar. There was a pretty decent selection of beers, and they even offered butchers, which was pretty cool (though I have to say that they aren't cheap). Actually, another thing I discovered when I was in Adelaide was that every morning they have a coffee stand there as well (though silly me didn't go and try their coffee). It's a pretty cool place and I'll definitely come here again. read more

It's a pretty cool place, there is a dining section on the left and the drinking section on the right, but you could either order meals, no matter where you sat. At the back, they were conducting a little tour at the brewery area, which was smaller than other brewery tours I've been on, but looked pretty awesome to have one in the city. The staff were responsive as we were taking photos and looking around the area and one staff member came up to us if he could help us. We wanted food, so he handed us the menu and explained how it works and told us all the specials they had going on at the moment. Since it was a cold night, all I wanted was chips and here they serve a tasting platter of chips. YUMMY! The tasting paddle cost about $18 and could probably served 2 to 4 people. You get a choice of sweet potato fries, beer battered chips with aioli dipping sauce, fat chips and gravy and patatas bravas (fried potato cubes oil served warm with a sauce such as a spicy tomato sauce. They have a big range of spanish foods and pub foods with a variety of drinks from beers, ciders, wines, spirits, cocktails and mocktails. I ordered the pineapple and mango aqua fresca mocktail, $8 a glass. A fresh spanish inspired mix, Aqua Fresca's are a classic latino drink, a perfect non-alcoholic option Mocktail - $8 or by adding Rebellion Bay Rum to the mix for a delicious drink for $16 for a cocktail. The place was packed out for a Saturday night and was over capacity and people were lining up at the doors by 8pm. I am very impressed by this place and would love to come back for the tour and to try to specials board. Overall, thumbs up! read more

Just updating my review here, as some of the reviewers here have not been impressed by the food. I beg to differ, as we met friends here yesterday and thought we would try the food. We had the Chip Lover's Tasting Paddle (sweet potato chips, Lady Burra Beer Battered Chips, Patatas Bravas and fat chips & gravy), and the Queijos Carne Plate (selection of cheese, cured meats, olives, etc) - both were amazing! Since the kids were still hungry afterwards, we decided to order a couple of tapas plates as well - the Mozarella Chicken Wings and Entremeada de Porco (char-grilled pork belly) were to die for ... especially the pork belly, wow!! Of course, the beer was amazing here, as it always is! I'm already looking forward to coming here and trying more food - the pizza looks amazing too! read more

We managed to score a table on a rather busy Friday night. We soon realised why - the heater didn't quite reach that far. No matter, the food and wine will warm us up. Verdict: The wine warmed us like a passionate embrace. The food - not quite. We opted for a bottle of the Tommy Ruff something-a-rather. Cue rant. I just attempted to verify what variety of wine it was that we so enjoyed. The Lady Burra website gives me the option to surrender my email address to be notified when they open. Update it guys. And, sure enough, their Facebook page is devoid of menu too. I hate it when I cannot access a menu online. I don't know how many places I have refused to visit because of this. Sorry. Where was I? The Tommy Ruff, syrah I think it was, was absolutely devine. I haven't enjoyed drinking a bottle of wine that much for a long time. And just as well - all wines are $51 a bottle. We went a chicken and chorizo pizza to share between the three of us. Both were fine, but didn't have that 'wood oven pizza' taste about them. The base tasted a little odd, and it was floppy and doughy. That said, down the gullet it went without too much of a protest. The staff were really friendly and accomodating. Next time I will try some of their beers and maybe their 'flight' of chips. Can't beat a good chip right? read more

We were very excited about this place opening so maybe our expectations were really too high... The service was great and I really liked the venue but... I get that not everyone is into hoppy beers but at least one option would be nice. But my biggest complains are: 1. It isn't open past 7 during the week. This may be an Australian thing but I would think a brewery would get most of its business after regular business hours - when your clients may be out of work. 2. On a Friday they only had pizza and a couple of specials on the menu. If you'll have a limited menu any night then only give out the limited menu to the people sitting down. read more

Crowded, dark and dingy. Drinks are ok. The 'hired goon' at the door refused to let me back in after going outside to meet my partner, because they were 'too full'. I explained I'd just come out 2 minutes previously and my work bag/laptop/etc was all inside with the directors of the company that I work for. This was at 5pm on Friday night, for a work drink with an international guest. I managed to convince the door goon, to let me retrieve my belongings; however I didn't get to enjoy the other half of my one and only drink, as my partner had to remain outside. The place is OK generally but the experience was not pleasant. I'd recommend finding somewhere else. read more

Was so happy to see we could still order our dinner at quarter to nine at night. We had been out on an art tour and walked past this place intending to go somewhere else. I decor and look of the place intrigued our attention and drew us in the door. We were greeted by the bar staff and given menus. There were quite a few free tables based on our time of arrival. The menu is a little limited to the pizza, burger sort of style but I think that's what you expect to eat at a brewery! Man food!!! Service was exceptional and our mushroom pizza came out speedily. Well I went there on a Saturday to celebrate a friends birthday, but I wasn't very impressed with the service. The place has a real industrial feel to it and I feel that it has a lot of potential to become an awesome bar on a Saturday night. We were told to line up, and upon jumping in the "line-up" we looked through the window and there wasn't many people in there. There was only about 8 people in front of us and they only let in a couple of people at a time....not sure if they were doing in on purpose to make them look busy but yeah, we weren't happy about having to line up even though there wasn't many people in there :/ read more

After participating in the recent Yelp Whiskey event I thought I'd continue my education at Lady Burra's Brewhouse. The place is a nice little bar that's has a good vibe. The crowd on a Wednesday night was a mix of business people celebrating a victory and uni students - overall a good vibe. I tried a neat Fireball whiskey which I thought was quite reasonable for $9. They have quite an extensive drinks list with entry level spirits $9, next level $11 and then top shelf for $14. I didn't eat here but the food smelt incredible. Someone behind me was eating pizza and it smelled yum! They also have a chip tasting plate that has made its way onto my "must try" list. A good place to come for some relaxed drinks - it's not pretentious and has a good vibe. read more

It's wonderful to have a brewpub in the Adelaide CBD, and the place is certainly buzzing and very busy on a Friday afternoon (actually, too busy given that they're turning away patrons due to being full up), but a good brewpub needs good beer and Lady Burra has very ordinary beer with a watered-down taste that might be palatable only for people who have only ever drank mainstream swill. So, ultimately, the raison d'etre for a brewpub is unfulfilled. People who like beer with some flavour will need to look elsewhere. What a shame. read more

It's a shame this place isn't better as I love the art and decor. We went there for lunch and service was very slow. It looked like there were only two guys waiting tables, and one seemed like they didn't want to be there. It took a while to order drinks and food. We weren't allowed to order drinks from the bar either. We just had to wait. The food was alright, but a bit expensive for what you get. I ordered the prosciutto 9" pizza with a coke, which cost me $19. I still felt hungry after. I can't comment about their beers as I don't drink it, but for a brewhouse they didn't seem to be trying to sell any. Not sure I would come back for food, but maybe a drink only after work. read more

Terrible service from all the bar staff. Came in and ordered 7 cocktails and the waitress rolled her eyes at me. Would not recommend. Take your money elsewhere. read more
