As I was looking at the immense number of grips to choose from, I asked a younger girl who worked there which she would suggest and she just pointed and said any. So I was still confused-so I asked another associate who was stringing a tennis racket and he also sort of gave a half ass answer and called for another associate. The employees were not very friendly or helpful-hence I am not giving five stars. However, I finally got the right person-seemed like the manager and she was fantastic. She spent about 20 minutes trying to peal apart my old grip--using all sorts of tools and it was disintegrating in her hands, so I felt really bad. Once she managed to get it off she put on the new grip for me, which was so nice--she really went out of her way to make sure it worked, so I appreciated that. Also-their selection is fabulous--at least in the pickleball area where I was looking--tons of rackets to demo, grips, bags, tennis/pickleball attire etc. I will definitely will go back in the future, if I need other pickleball items, just hoping the employees won't look so annoyed and disinterested if I ask a question.

I am a strong supporter of local businesses, but felt compelled to write a review because of an…read moreextremely poor customer experience. I brought in skis to have them tuned for the season. I haven't skied in four years because of a previous ski injury. I felt ready to get back onto the slopes - not an easy decision. I've been skiing since I was six, so my skis were previously tuned for competition and needed to be readjusted so I can take it much easier. My bindings looked a bit old and I took them in to be readjusted to bring me back down to intermediate level. I brought in the skis and they accommodated a request to have them done by the end of the week. Awesome. Great customer service from some new kids working the counter. I get a call shortly after saying the bindings were no longer indemnified by the manufacturer and that I needed new bindings. They offered to sell me 2022 inventory at 35% off. I asked what make and model and immediately browsed for the same bindings online. The price of the bindings at reputable stores, including their standard installation cost for bindings brought to them, was significantly lower than they were offering, even with the discounts - about 50 percent less. They are a business, I get it. I asked if they would be willing to lower the cost given it's old inventory. I hear an older man in the background saying, as I'm asking these questions, "Tell him to come get his f-ing skis and take them away." I did exactly that. I had been going to them for years, for myself, my kids, and had referred my friends many times over. Now they have not just lost this customer that was getting back into skiing, but my friends and referrals, and possibly some of you reading this review. Small businesses should treat customers with the same respect we give them. I'll be taking my business elsewhere.

She was fitted for a size 1 ice skate and I was hesitant because I had just sized up her sneakers to 2s. I was assured there was plenty of room and deferred to them on it. Of course a month later she was complaining about them being too small. We came back to Peck's and they exchanged them for 2s and only subtracted $20 from the refund for her having worn them for a month. They had some scuffs and the insoles showed her feet print but they were otherwise in pristine condition. It was a better deal than I hoped for and I sincerely appreciate the accommodation of her growing feet. It goes to show how important customer service is because we will for sure be customers for life now (she really loves skating so it seems like we will stick with it, ha see what I did there?). Thank you Peck's!

The name represents ~ Hickory (type of wood for skis) & Tweed wool (being the best insulation for the cold back then). In 1985, Skip Beitzel, who worked there while in high school, bought it and has kept the name and the concepts. I was so happy to see it was still a local icon and not much had changed. My High School friend and I stopped in to browse amongst the gear and chatted with one of the sales people. The store had all top of the line sports brands and upstairs on the second floor they still do the ski equipment fittings! It totally made my day! They also have a bike shop located on the same lot in a separate building. The shop looks like a colonial home. The staff is ready to help you with all of your needs. *Some Parking available in the back & streets

Unbelievably great experience at Wesco…read more I'm a big, 6'2 beer league goalie with a size 15 shoe who always has a hard time finding gear, particularly skates. After speaking with Andrew who runs the pro shop (a smaller satellite Wesco store) at the Stamford Twin Rinks, he recommended I go see Nick at the main Wesco store in Brookfield. Having already spent an hour driving from the Bronx to Stamford, I was hesitant to drive another hour for gear - but I am glad I did. Andrew called Nick and informed him I was coming up, and when I arrived Nick was prepared and ready to get me fitted with a VERY gently used pair of Bauer skates that fit like a glove. I went in thinking I would try on some skates, find a pair and size I liked, and then shop around online, but when Nick said the price was $150, I couldn't leave without them (Mind you, the skates were last years model and used, but they were in perfect condition). I was in and out in about 30 minutes with a pair of skates that had been heat molded to my foot and sharpened on site to perfection. Can't thank Nick (and Andrew in Stamford!) enough for their dedication to providing the best gear and service around. I will not shop for goalie gear anywhere else again.
