I am a strong supporter of local businesses, but felt compelled to write a review because of an…read moreextremely poor customer experience. I brought in skis to have them tuned for the season. I haven't skied in four years because of a previous ski injury. I felt ready to get back onto the slopes - not an easy decision. I've been skiing since I was six, so my skis were previously tuned for competition and needed to be readjusted so I can take it much easier. My bindings looked a bit old and I took them in to be readjusted to bring me back down to intermediate level. I brought in the skis and they accommodated a request to have them done by the end of the week. Awesome. Great customer service from some new kids working the counter. I get a call shortly after saying the bindings were no longer indemnified by the manufacturer and that I needed new bindings. They offered to sell me 2022 inventory at 35% off. I asked what make and model and immediately browsed for the same bindings online. The price of the bindings at reputable stores, including their standard installation cost for bindings brought to them, was significantly lower than they were offering, even with the discounts - about 50 percent less. They are a business, I get it. I asked if they would be willing to lower the cost given it's old inventory. I hear an older man in the background saying, as I'm asking these questions, "Tell him to come get his f-ing skis and take them away." I did exactly that. I had been going to them for years, for myself, my kids, and had referred my friends many times over. Now they have not just lost this customer that was getting back into skiing, but my friends and referrals, and possibly some of you reading this review. Small businesses should treat customers with the same respect we give them. I'll be taking my business elsewhere.

Interesting-I think my review will be some what similar to others I have read. So I went earlier…read moretoday because I needed a new grip for my pickleball racket. As I was looking at the immense number of grips to choose from, I asked a younger girl who worked there which she would suggest and she just pointed and said any. So I was still confused-so I asked another associate who was stringing a tennis racket and he also sort of gave a half ass answer and called for another associate. The employees were not very friendly or helpful-hence I am not giving five stars. However, I finally got the right person-seemed like the manager and she was fantastic. She spent about 20 minutes trying to peal apart my old grip--using all sorts of tools and it was disintegrating in her hands, so I felt really bad. Once she managed to get it off she put on the new grip for me, which was so nice--she really went out of her way to make sure it worked, so I appreciated that. Also-their selection is fabulous--at least in the pickleball area where I was looking--tons of rackets to demo, grips, bags, tennis/pickleball attire etc. I will definitely will go back in the future, if I need other pickleball items, just hoping the employees won't look so annoyed and disinterested if I ask a question.

I was certified at another location many years ago, then a couple of years ago I was looking to get my wife certified so we could enjoy the oceans together. The store where I had gotten certified at had closed, so I called around and Found Abyss, then in Mount Kisco,. So I called expecting to find the usual dive store shtick, what I had instead was a 45 minute conversation with Randy, where his passion about diving and knowledge was abundantly clear. After that call I knew this was where My wife was going to get certified and I was going too do my advanced. That was Over 3 years ago now and my wife is advanced, I am a dive master all with Randy, I tell anyone I care about you HAVE to get trained at abyss. You will be the most prepared for diving that you can be. On top of that Randy is also great at making sure you get what you need not what you want as far as equipment goes, he will educate you as far as what gear you want for whatever type of diving you want to do, He won't just sell you something just to sell you something, He'll sell you want most suits your needs. As if that wasn't enough, we've also been on 3 shop trips with Randy and our other dive buddies from the store, to central America, and last year to the Phil;lipines. Not only was it the best diving that I've done, but with the best people possible, and I know we have made friends for life, just from calling up the store that one day, So for any of your diving needs or if you just wanna bend his ear and meet some really great people, I really can't reccommend Randy and Abyss highly enough

Randy was great at walking me through options and set me up with a great full travel set. He made sure everything was suited to my dive needs and came in time for my trip (despite general supply chain issues). It's been a while since my last dive, so I didn't want to waste my precious time in Belize on a refresher course. Randy instructed me through one of the most thorough refresher courses I've had in the pool the week before my trip. It was great as I was able to dive on day 1 in Belize without needing to take a refresher there. More importantly, it was a great review of all of the key skills and got me aquatinted with my new equipment. Just got back from the week of diving and it was awesome! Felt super confident under water and the equipment worked out great. It was so nice to have my own equipment I was familiar with and fit perfectly as opposed to the usual mixed bag of rental gear.
