It is true that the owner has little patience for unmotivated "browsers" in the Gun Room, but my wife and I have been doing business with this store for 5 years, and I assure you that if you are a knowledgeable enthusiast, as we are, there is no better selection of fine firearms, accessories and shooters' clothing within 100 miles. My wife loves the Austrian and German imported clothing that is found on the 1st floor, and I have spent many delightful hours buying, trading and discussing fine firearms with the owner, who has been generous with his time and extraordinary knowledge. The owner of the store is extremely rude and acts as though he's doing you a favor by even talking to you. Before he would answer any of my questions he asked me "who are you? why should i help you?" I suppose my answers satisfied him, because he answered my questions but he continued to be rude. The gun inventory in the store is high end, but his prices are anything but competitive even for the high end market. The owner seems to lack the necessary knowledge and only seems interested in ripping off his customers. I've also heard reports that he refuses to speak or sell to women, which does not surprise me given his attitude towards everyone that walks in to his store. I would recommend staying far away from this store if you're a legitimate sportsman or gun enthusiasts. This store only serves the clueless douchebag portion of the market, you know the guy who has all the fancy gear but can't figure out how to actually load and shoot his gun...the guys you stay away from on the range. read more

This place is a classic go-to location for elegant and practical gifts, the most recent being a beautiful set of opera glasses before heading to a performance in the City. The only things I would suggest improvement in is their politeness in communication and thoroughness of knowledge about ALL of their merchandise. Went to browse the firearms selection today. To say they were jerks is putting it nicely. Treated like dirt and extremely rude. The woman demanded to know my age and what I wanted to browse. When asked if they sold ammo was told no despite the large amounts of boxes. I would give zero stars if possible. The man who owns Eurochasse and runs the gun room upstairs is not only rude but not at all knowledgable about guns or gun laws. He gave a fellow shopper incorrect information about obtaining a hand gun license (he said you needed to buy a long gun first and gain experience and then could purchase a handgun!) and when I kindly and gently corrected him and explained you needed to take a handgun course and apply for a pistol permit, he kicked me out of the store. Seemed like he was lying to try to sucker the customer into buying a rifle! Or he was just dangerously clueless. I will Never go there again. There are much better gun stores around that are more reasonably priced and have MUCH better service. read more

I recently purchase a gun barrel for a client of mine. It was advertised as fitting a certain Beretta shotgun. Upon receipt is was for an earlier model. I immediately tried to call but Eurochasse was closed for the holidays. I repeatedly tried to call and only recently got through. I was told that I had missed the three day inspection window and after I showed obvious displeasure was promptly hung up on! I had tried repeatedly to call and they won't talk.!!!!! I was surfing the web looking for a particular shotgun set and found one that was advertised with an exceptionally good price with pictures that looked like it also had exception wood. It was represented as New In The Box. As I really wanted this, I E-mailed the owner and got a somewhat terse response, but was told that it in fact was in stock. I E-mailed him again and said I would drive over on Monday. (I had e-mailed him to begin with over the weekend.) I drove to the store from Manhattan, on Monday and went up to the gun room, where he pulled out three boxes. (After complaining that I had wasted his time E-mailing so many times) All looked new and two had not been opened. One was open and that was the main gun, which has to be booked in, the second was for the Unsingle Barrel and the last was for the presentation case. The wood was exactly as the pictures had shown and everything was in perfect new condition so I said, "I will take it" at which time I was told that the instore price was much higher than the on line price. So I said OK, I have a smart phone and will go outside and order it on line. He then agreed to sell it to me at the Internet advertised price. When I went to pay, he had added Connecticut sales tax. I told him he was shipping it to a New York Dealer and he could not charge me CT sales tax. The woman working there confirmed that and I finally paid the price I expected and a few days later my local dealer received it, transferred it to me and I have been shooting it ever since. This model has now be discountinued and is worth more money than I paid for it, even used. He as not fun to deal with, but he does have a lot of high end and rare shotguns and nice accessories and if you know prices and hold your ground, you can make a good deal. If you do not know what you are doing or what the products should cost I can see why there are so many bad reviews. The place is kind of like the rude waiters at Lundy's in New York City, but of course that is part of the charm. read more

My husband bought me a Christmas gift here..I tried to return it..waited outside their store on 26th...no note, nothing on website about hours..went to my job one hour late. I have the same hours as they do, called and was rudely told nothing they can do, would not open early or stay late for me. Comments made by other reviewers that the male employee/owner is rude are an understatement. I read the One Star reviews and didn't think going into the store could be that bad. I was wrong. It was the rudest retail experience I ever had on so many levels, and I don't know how they can stay in business. They do have some nice stuff! I went there for a shooting vest because a great nearby Gunsmith in Southport told me that my shotgun wouldn't be ready for about an hour. But within minutes of entering Eurochasse, I figured it would be impossible to decide upon a purchase because he kept on talking in a rude and almost bickering manner from the get go. He wanted to know what Club I belonged to, what kind of gun I shot, where I was from... and it was NOT in a manner to connect with the customer. When he brought me upstairs, he said, "Don't look at the guns!" I had to leave after 20 minutes because I was afraid I was going to be rude in return... which is so not me. If you are looking for a classy, respectful, and casual place to purchase shotguns and/or skeet clothing... go to Connecticut Shotgun (Galazans) in Greenwich. A company which, by the way, the owner of Eurochase had never heard of so "their quality must be bad." A comment made by him which is wrong on so many levels because I love my Inverness and Rizzini shotguns, both bought from Galazan, and they are a company who stand behind their products without getting in your face before you buy. read more

My wife and I were just insulted out of the store. Went in as it was an authorized Winchester dealer and thought might possibly have the shotgun in question and if not would order it for me. Instead I was insulted about the money I was willing to spend along with my hunting and shooting knowledge. To top it off he claimed to have no knowledge of the Winchester SX3, but in the same breath was able to bad mouth how poor a product it was. My wife was shopping around while I was being insulted and the female clerk refused to help her with a jacket that she liked the looks of. I was looking for a Browning 20 gauge that has not been made since 2006/2007. I found a listing on a broker site from Eurochasse for the gun- where they advertised it as new-in-box. I called and spoke with a woman who couldn't absolutely say for sure they had the gun. After a brief wait a man, presumably the owner, came on the phone and during a short discussion he told me he had 4 or so brand new guns of the model I was seeking- and that they were all new and in the box. The woman came back on the phone and I confirmed how to purchase it, indicating that perhaps I would call back. I made the comment that I was suspect that he had 4 brand new guns that have been discontinued for 6 years, but she explained they are a large store and a large collector. No sooner had I hung up and the owner called me back - from caller ID -berating me about me making the comment, telling me he wanted to check me out and asked if I knew some guy from my home state (population 5.7 million), was surprised when I didn't and proceeded to call me a f&$#ing idiot and hang up on me. Really? I wish Yelp had negative stars and after seeing the other reviews I am really glad I didn't buy a gun from them. read more

My family went into the Eurochasse store to look for an all purpose shotgun. The owner of the store could not have been more rude and unhelpful! We were very interested in an investment grade gun and we were asking basic questions and were thwarted at every turn. In general, he made no effort at selling us a gun or imparting information in any way. He was most unhelpful and actually thwarted a sale or any good recommendation at all. He told us there is no such thing as an all purpose shotgun - which is, in fact, inaccurate. Honestly, I have never had a retail experience quite like this! I am a clay target instructor. I broke the stock on Perazzi, and am looking for a new stock. My gun is a high end firearm, and I am expecting to pay for the quality of wood I have on it. At a lesson today, I was telling one of my students about my stock and having an appt. at Eurochasse to look at some wood. He told me he is in Greenwich all the time, would I like for him to stop in, see what they have and take some pictures for me. That would be great, I live 2 hours from there. WELL, my student calls me and says, "What a jerk". Arrogant, just about refuses to speak to him because "he is not the one with the money" Says to my student, tell your friend, "If he has the money, I have the wood". Not in this lifetime. I'd shoot a $200 gun before I would buy my wood there. My reputation in this industry has been made on delivering to my clients more than they expect each in every time one is in front of me. Money is not the determining factor in who I teach, and level of expertise they get when they are with me. I guess a $3-5000 sale is not in Eurochasse's future with me. I engaged the store on 8/28/2012 via phone, left my email and phone number in regards to a firearm and was told that somebody would get back to me. On 8/31/2012 I had yet to receive a call or email so I reached back out to the company. A women answered and I told her what was going on and her response was I don't no what to tell you. I laughed and said it doesn't appear that your in any hurry to sell that gun. She says look all of our guns are perfect. And I replied I needed to see pictures before I could move forward with a purchase. Get this she the says well I have a man on the phone who bought a gun and I 'm going to have to take this. This snot nose is probably the owners daughter or can't find a job anywhere else because of her in ability to keep her mouth shut and is clearly clueless when it comes to dealing the correct way with customers. Great store if you appreciate european country life. The goods are hand made and luxurious. I dont find these items anywhere else in the US. The owners have always been personable whether I have made purchases or just stop in to say hi. If you appreciate great craftsmanship, you will enjoy this establishment. My husband and I were browsing the clothing downstairs and found a woollen bobble hat which we thought our daughter would love. Now it was obviously an expensive hat (cashmere) so I swallowed hard when I saw the $495 price tag but decided to go with it. The proprietor happened to approach at this moment and barked a "what do you want?" at me. Whilst surprised at the aggressive greeting I thought I would double check the price. What followed was truly staggering. The brutish man began to interrogate my husband and I; "where are you from? (London)", "if you want to question the price why don't you go back to your country?". My husband and I were taken aback but assumed he was joshing so we just laughed nervously. Mistake. He then proceeded to throw us out and make a big deal of locking the door behind us. Wow! Never seen anything like that before. Reading the other reviews I think it's fair to say this man has issues. My husband and I have been customers for over 18 years with Eurochasse. I have since moved to California (4 years ago), and look forward to visiting again this weekend. My experience has been nothing but good. We have gotten mostly clothing, and some bags. Still, after 18 years of heavy use they are going strong. I have a coat- polar fleece, that while others deteriorated, this remained elegant and beautiful. My husband bought many coats, and has been passing some of them (still in great condition) onto our 19 year old son, 6'4", who started coming into the Greenwich store when he was only 2. I still get comments on my leather bags, and how they are unusual and beautiful. We are pretty hard on clothes and still they have stood up. Often we go to the store on Sidewalk Sale Days in Greenwich, and love the experience. I am hoping to get my husband some new shirts, because after 15-18 years of heavy use, they are finally wearing out. Our best clothes are from Eurochasse. I consider it well worth the experience.... and truly enjoy the people in the store.... (it is their store after all). read more
