It was Memorial Day, and Eden Center was packed. Somehow this place managed to get us a table for 5 without any waiting. This was how leadership went. We walked in. A couple were sat just seconds before to a 5 top. The owner was hesitated and called his wife for help. She came to the rescue with a simple but effective solution. She spoke to the couple with a nice smile. The next thing was that they stood up and followed her to a 2 top, yielding the 5 top fos us. We tried some stirfried noodle, duck noodle soup, and the Lacay specialty. They were all delicious.

A fruit fly in the water

My first time coming here and there was a fruit fly in my water cup. Definitely not a good first impression coming here!

I got some takeout because I am lazy af and it's too hot to put on pants and go out. I ordered the shaking beef - lemme tell you, this is crazy tasty. The beef was tender, the sauce was delicious, I wish I had ordered more rice because there was so much meat and one bowl of rice was definitely not enough. I also got fresh shrimp/pork summer rolls and they were good. The peanut sauce was particularly delicious. The iced coffee was strong as fuck (I had to water it down a little. Ok a lot, but that's coz I'm weak.) When I get less lazy I'm gonna hafta come by for a visit. In short, get your vietnamese food fix at lacay. No regrets!!!

An authentic Vietnamese restaurant with generally decent food but not great. The dinning room was just the basic decor and utensils and condiments on the table. Go here for a meal and not the experience. Service is real mediocre too and they only take cash.

#41 Beef Stew with Bread

We usually pass this restaurant and it's not super busy but today we decided to visit to avoid the lines at our usual place. Firstly, it is CASH ONLY. The restaurant as typical wasn't busy when we walk-in in so we were seated promptly. It's pretty clear that they do a lot of take out orders though which explains why there aren't many sit down patrons. The menu is pretty large and it has more Vietnamese entrees (note: there is no pho BUT plenty of other options). I went with my favorite grilled pork platter and their biggest platter came with shrimp and egg cake. I honestly can see why it's their most popular item because it's super flavorful and large portioned for $18! My partner got the beef stew with bread which was heavy on the star anise but the bread was perfectly crispy. We got the wonton small bowl as an app it was just ok. In order to pay, you walk to the back where the register is and let them know which table you sat at. Overall, it actually was a pretty good experience and we didn't expect much. I'd say if you're not looking for pho and want to try something different, this is a good place.

Food great. There are flies. Service okay. Worth it. The food is super super good and authentic, but don't expect a spotless experience. The service is funny and inconsistent, but honestly I think this place is great. There was an annoying fly, but the affordable prices and yummy food was worth it.

the massive crispy egg noodles with seafood. at least 2, if not 3 portions of food.

If you're looking for legit Viet at Eden Center, start here. No frills, huge portions, good food, and you'll be left alone. This is an old-school Eden Center staple. Miss me with that little lamb hotpot and kbbq (I do love those things) and meet me at Lacay. Highly recommend the mi and the hu tieu, their specialties. Well-seasoned broth, seafood with a hint of natural sweetness, and a little bit of everything (shrimp, pork, etc). We've never had a disappointing meal here. We have, however, been consistently impressed by food quality and portions. It's clear the restaurant is not trying to cater to the Yelp crowd and I love it for that. This is a place I would bring my parents. It's a down-to-earth restaurant.

Covid 19 - Oct 2021

Covid 19 Oct, 2021 Food: 3/5 wasnt too impress on flavor but the place does have a wide range of menu to select from. They added a few more items on their special menu. Bánh bèo chén (water fern cake)- one of the Hue/central vietnam specialty was newly added as well as the mini crab hot pot. Service: 1/5 I would never expect to even have an average service anywhere at Eden center but I still wanted to share my experience . The waiter knocked over my friend drink and water/ice was all over the place (on her clothe and an ice cube was found in her food). The worst part was that he just WALKED AWAY w/o apologizing. We thought he went to get sth from the back to clean up the mess but he never came back . We had to clean up by ourselves in order to move on with our food. Good luck my fellows if y'all ever decide to give this place or Eden center a try. Teehee Ps: stick w/ their noodles dishes ONLY plus the new special menu What we ordered: 11-18-27a-44

I came here for my moms birthday brunch with my family. It was a while since I came here but we went to this place and it was really good. I got the dry noodles with steak, vegetables, and a egg roll. It was delicious. Food came out quick and the service was fast.

I literally found a piece of rat feces on the noodles. This is really disgusting. This would be the last time I eat here

This is my Vietnamese friend's go-to place for Vietnamese noodle dishes. Here is what I ordered: * Hu Tieu Dac Biet - Seafood, beef, pork and veggies I thought it was okay as it was too sweet to me. For some reason, I don't like sweet noodles. However, I saw almost 7-8 people eating the same one (Hu Tieu Dac Biet) there. If you want to try different Vietnamese cuisine other than Pho, you definitely need to check it out.

Mi Kho Dac Biet #18

Mi Kho Dac Biet was good. Service was aiiight. We asked for extra sauce and they didn't give it to us because they said their was already sauce in the bowl and she wasn't very nice about it when she said it.

Hu tieu ap chao mem

Yummy stir fried noodles. Love the way how my dish smells like smoke. Perfect. Colorful toppings. My friend had soupless noodles bowl. I was amazed cuz of the texture of the tapioca noodles here. Feels Interesting to chew it.

Favs and must try -- seafood cha gao is delicious with the combination of lettuce wrap, basil, mint. It's a perfect bite flavor wise. This has a lot of flavor and is cooked perfectly. Lobster garlic noodles-- no complaints here, it's delicious! Meh dishes-- chili wontons are nothing special, and the short rib paparadelle wasn't good IMO. Parking isn't the best but I usually find a spot in the garage and the restaurant has a discount code so don't pay for the parking until you get into the restaurant and use the discount code at the host stand. The restaurant is very pretty, good for date night or girls night too!

Hoang Viet Restaurant can be hard to spot, as it's inside one of the little indoor shopping complexes in the corner of the broader Eden Center complex, right across the street from Happy Lamb Hot Pot. However, if you are lucky enough to find this shop, prepare to be wowed with some of the best and most authentic Hue cooking in the DMV. This no-frills restaurant centers on Central / Northern Vietnam, with a particular focus on Bun Bo Hue, a super flavorful spicy beef and pork noodle soup with a rich, spicy broth and tons of mix-ins. That was a big mistake because Truong Tien is inside and it is amazing! My son and I started with Banh Beo Nhan Kho Tom Chay, a dish of steamed rice cake topped with fried shallots, dried powdered shrimp (prawn floss) and chicharron which you then can top with a spicy sauce. They come in little tiny dishes that you can kind of slurp the rice cake from like an oyster. The combination of textures and temperatures and flavors was delicious - and not too filling as a starter. We wanted to have a Banh Khoai Nuoc Leo (crispy pancake taco-like dish with a dipping sauce) but they were out for the day (we were there at about 4pm) so instead we had vermicelli bowls (Bun Nem Nuong) with Asian style sausage and fried spring rolls. Topped with peanuts and fish sauce, it was fresh and delicious. The host greets you warmly and offers ice water, hot or iced tea (complimentary) and the restaurant decor is absolutely beautiful. There's also a gorgeous display of food for sale near the register, including fried bananas and donut/beignet sort of treats. I also loved the spicy fermented tofu dipping sauce. All of the dishes can be dipped in any and all of the dipping sauces accompanied by the other dishes. The waitress also brought a small bowl of rice with lemongrass pork for my baby to eat (on the house). The waitress was awesome :) Before tip the total came out to be $52. Our server seemed a bit impatient and abrupt when taking our order (we asked how many spring rolls come in each order, and added beef meatballs to one of our pho orders), but we were mainly there for the food. The space itself is roomy, casual and comfortable, with tables spaced and seated far enough apart to not feel crowded. We started with the pork and taro spring rolls, which came out hot, cut in half, and impressively crispy! (Just as a heads up so you don't get scolded like we did - the pork and taro spring rolls come with two per order, and the price for both is a great deal compared to most pho establishments!) For our mains, we ordered three pho bowls and one dry noodle dish. The pho arrived warm, and adding bean sprouts cooled it down further rather than cooking them through. The dry noodle dish, on the other hand, was excellent in flavor, though also not very hot - likely due to the fresh vegetables (lettuce, tomatoes and cucumber) mixed in. Overall, a solid, filling meal, even if the service and the temperature of the food could be improved. Why we keep coming back: The Pho Sate is absolutely exceptional - we've tried this dish at countless Vietnamese restaurants over the years, and honestly can't find it done this well anywhere else. After 10+ years, the quality has never wavered. The broth is rich and flavorful with that perfect balance of spice and depth, the beef is always tender, and the fresh lettuce, herbs, and crispy garlic add amazing texture. But the real star? Their legendary roasted chili sauce (see photo) - that golden-orange chili oil is what dreams are made of! Savory, spicy, aromatic, and absolutely addictive. We've been eating this sauce for over a decade and it never gets old. If you love bold, authentic flavors, this alone is worth the visit. Consistently friendly and attentive staff - over all these years, the service has remained excellent. They recognize regulars, are genuinely warm and welcoming, and clearly take pride in their food and customer relationships. Plenty of parking - a practical bonus that makes every visit hassle-free. Why this deserves 5 stars: When you return to the same restaurant for over a decade, it's because they're doing everything right. The consistency in food quality, the authentic flavors, the warm hospitality - all of it has kept us coming back year after year. This isn't just good food; it's a place that's become part of our dining routine. Bottom line: After 10+ years as customers, we can confidently say this is the real deal. The Pho Sate is unmatched, that roasted chili sauce is legendary, and the entire experience is consistently excellent. In the last year, we usually order the Mi Nam Vang and Mi Bo Kho, and both are consistently excellent. This past weekend, we finally decided to eat at the restaurant in person at Eden Center, and it was just as good as when we order delivery. The guy seating people was very polite and friendly, and our food came out pretty quickly. We ordered the Bun Mam and Mi Nam Vang, and both were amazing. Everything tasted fresh and came out super hot, which I love. There are plenty of condiments on the table if needed, but honestly the broth is so flavorful that you do not really need them. They also give a great portion of protein, which I really appreciate. The place was packed and clearly very popular, and I can see why. I will definitely continue to support Hai Duong and hope they get even more business. And I appreciate that they got so much better compared to during COVID times, Great work, Hai Duong!
