Prior to yesterday, I had been shopping at La Brie for years, even prior to having children and have brought my children into the store prior. I am echoing the sentiments of several other reviewers, the young shitty sales girls who stare with vacant haughty, disgusted eyes and make eyes with one another to disapprove and "mean girl" customers and kids should not work with people (ever). They should actually attend coursework on how to be better humans and understand patience, children and how to respond to kids and their parents in the store (when a kids gets restless- a normal thing). Easy to disapprove and feel smug about something your small lived experiences. lack of awareness and inability to have empathy have seemingly NOT taught you to take a more helpful approach or another perspective. But alas, the store manager was egging it on. I could see that when I pulled the manager aside to speak to her about her inappropriate employees. You run largely a children's dance store and no doubt you should understand kids and families. Instead you offered shittiness. I contemplated walking out without my products, but I purchased them instead for my child's sake and because you did not allow the situation to escalate. If I am being honest, I doubt you "spoke" to those grossly immature girls (who should not work there at all) other than to be glad my family left. Twenty years of purchasing from you is a long time to smugly have disdain and shittiness be your go-to response to my family. You have had some wonderful employees that have been helpful and understand how to interact with a restless child and their family. But how you allowed my family to feel in your store yesterday, means we will NOT return. Even the girl who claimed she does ballet- as I asked about dance booties, didn't appear to know anything other than how to feel inconvenienced and unable to be bothered with families she considers beneath her. Her sometimes nice acting two-faced friend echoed this in their often exchanged shitty glances. I cannot in good faith even recommend this store to ANYONE. And....I gathered that the store is shortsighted enough to believe my small family and business won't matter, anyway. Good luck. read more

This is the go to spot if your child does any sort of dance academy. Lucky for us, it's not far from us in town. Sometimes (usually beginning of dance seasons and recital times) it can be busy and it's a take a number type of situation. Generally I buy the shoes and tights here as the shoes need to be fitted properly and the tights are a specific color/shade. Also, the y have a binder with all of the information from the studios so you don't even need to worry about it. I tend to not buy leotards here because I can find them much cheaper online. They do have a sale rack that has some stuff depending on the size. They also usually have groupons that are discounted by a few dollars or more that you can purchase at the discounted rate on Groupon and redeem for your purchase. read more

We were here to get pointe shoes. The process was easy once I said what we were there for and how my daughters dance school was already there. My daughter was so excited to get them but nervous also. She was made to feel comfortable and the person who waited on us let her know she needed her follow direction and to be honest how the shoes felt. Thanks for a great experience read more

Wonderful experience for my daughter's first pointe shoes. This was my first trip here -being referred by my daughter's ballet teacher to specifically purchase here. We arrived after 7pm Friday night to purchase and a lovely salesperson, Nicole, was happy to assist. She was patient and kind with my daughter and very competent. She obviously knew what she was doing and was very concerned about making sure the shoes were a good fit. She tried quite a few different shoes and sizes. She provided much needed assistance and information. It was more than I could have hoped. Even though we were in the store right up until 8pm when they closed, the salespeople could not have been more patient with us. The owner is extremely lucky to have such a wonderful staff there at their store. I will definitely return in the future. Thank you!! read more

Worst customer service experience I have had in a very long time. (Unless you enjoy smiling, 15-year-old sales people, with vacant eyes and little to no accurate product information.) I purchased a leotard at La Brie in November for a performance, told the sales person the size of my child, and she recommended a large. When it was too big, I brought it back and told the sales person my problem, she advised me to buy a medium in a different brand. When I compared the two, they looked like they were more than 1 size different, so I asked her if the manufacturers ran a little different. She assured me they did not, but if it didn't fit I could "just bring it back." When I got the second one home, it was too small. I had to go to Target and buy one due to time constraints. I went back to purchase black ballet slippers in March for a performance. They did not have a black ballet slipper in a size 4 girls. The sales person told me she found it strange that they didn't have a size 4 girls, and even checked the Bloch website and they didn't have a size 4 either. She showed me black capezio slippers in a size 4 and offered to order them. I agreed. They came in about a week later and I picked them up about 1 week before the performance. I got them home and they were pink, not black. I had to order my black ones online because I was concerned about being able to get back to La Brie and have them order more for me. When I did so, I learned that there is not a girls' size 4 ballet slipper from Bloch or Capezio, the slippers move to women's sizes after size 2.5. The sales person at La Brie was, apparently, unaware of this. Now back today to La Brie for a fourth time. I returned to bring back my pink slippers (wrong color) and the leotard (wrong size) I had purchased 4 months earlier (with all tags still on, and in original packaging - never used). I was told that they would not accept the return on the leotard because it was beyond their 3 month "policy" which is "very strict." Several smiling sales girls with vacant eyes repeated the "policy" to me. When the manager was asked, she (smiling) refused to allow me to exchange the leotard for another product. The leotard cost approximately $13. I returned all $45 worth of product I had purchased and will never waste my time shopping at La Brie ever again. Online shopping for dance products is more convenient, the sales people are more knowledgeable, and the pricing is better. Worst customer service experience I have had in a long time. The woman working there was extremely rude and abrasive. She shouldn't work with the public. I wont be back, I didn't purchase anything.

I went in to the store on Friday evening to pick up some tap shoes for my daughter. We had been in a couple of weeks earlier to try on shoes and get the right style that is required by her dance studio. Unfortunately, they didn't have her size in stock so we ordered and paid for the shoes. LaBrie did let us use both a Groupon and the 20% off sale which helped bring down the price dramatically! The staff was very helpful and friendly through this entire process. They were busy so we did have to wait about 25 minutes before getting some assistance but that is understandable between the sale and the beginning of dance season. They called to let me know her shoes had arrived and I could pick them up. I stopped in on a Friday afternoon and they were busy so I was told to take a number. I took a number then asked a staff member who had a moment of free time if I had to wait until my number was called since I was picking up shoes that were already paid for. She said yes. About 10 minutes later they called the next number which was 10, I was number 14. Another 15 minutes or so went by before they called the next number. I asked a different staff member if I could just quickly pick up the shoes since they had already been paid for, she said no I would have to wait. Meanwhile, she checked out customers who were purchasing leotards, dresses, or anything non-shoe related. I kept being told that they were busy because there were only two people who could fit point shoes. Well ok, I would understand waiting if I was there to get fit for point shoes. But I was there to pick up shoes that I had already paid for!!! It was a weak excuse for a rule that the staff didn't seem to want to abide by. I ended up waiting about 45 minutes to PICK UP SHOES THAT I HAD ALREADY FIT AND PAID FOR. My entire transaction took about 2 minutes, including her walking to the office to get my shoes, typing something in to the computer, attempting to charge me again for the shoes (she was frazzled and made a simple mistake), and for me to say thank you. I waited 45 minutes for a two minute transaction for shoes that I had already purchased. From now on I'm going to get our dance supplies elsewhere. I go there because they have the uniform list for my dance studio so from now on, I'll just get the requirements from the studio and shop elsewhere. I have spent a lot of money at this store to be treated poorly, with lame excuses by the staff, and no real apologies for their rules that simply don't make sense. read more

I generally support local business but after my experience there yesterday I will be buying all my daughters' ballet supplies online. I purchased two sets of ballet slippers and four pairs of tights (buy three, get one free). Nothing was marked with a price. When I inquired how much a specific pair of tights would cost, I was told $9. When I got up to the register, the tights rung up at $13.50 each. When I asked her why she told me $9, she said that was for a different pair of tights. This was mystifying to me since I asked specifically about the tights I had in my hand. It felt very much like a bait and switch. Shame on them. read more
