Horribly understaffed. Doctor tells you just go to LabCorp and get your labs drawn but all the locations in San Diego county seem to be incredibly understaffed. Can't get appointment for days. Walk-ins are two hour plus wait times and the hours are only six hours a day that they're open, how is this acceptable healthcare? read more

Labcorp, specifically the location at 9850 Genesee Ave, Suite 120 in San Diego, California, is the actual worst phlebotomy office I have ever been to and not only will I NOT recommend it, I am going to actively advise everyone who will listen to avoid it. I have been to this location 3 times now; it's close to my house and I was trying to give this location a fair chance. I thought perhaps the first two times the staff were just having an off day. But after the 3rd time, it's abundantly clear their rude behavior and painful sticks are a pattern not an exception. It's important to note the phlebotomists at this location process paperwork at the front desk while patients are expected to self check in on a tablet. The queue is usually displayed on a tv screen. I should disclaim that I was a walk in on my 3rd and final visit. The wait time was over an hour, and while that is unfortunate, I accepted it for what it was. What is not acceptable in my opinion is the broken (or turned off) tv screens that usually display the queue. The staff then essentially snarled at anyone that dared ask them questions about their position in the queue or for help with check in. They have clearly not been trained in customer service and while one could argue that perhaps isn't a job requirement, they also seem to have been poorly trained at phlebotomy. I am a very easy stick with a vein practically bulging out of one arm and this last time, it hurt worse than ever and for some reason, the phlebotomist started to push down harder midway through the blood draw. I'm taking about during tube 4 out of 6 she started to press down on the needle while blood was actively flowing. I told her she was hurting me and she did not seem concerned, surprisingly she seemed a little put off. Additionally, everything is dusty, which calls their cleaning practices into question. Are they really sanitizing after each patient, as they claim? The dust would suggest not.... So after waiting for over a hour with incredibly rude service and a very painful blood draw, I am officially done giving this location a chance. Labcorp, if you truly want feedback, audit this location and do better with training and hiring people who aren't miserable human beings. There have been lots of layoffs the last few years; there have to be better options than the people currently employed here. Quest just got a new customer. read more

Paid and gave blood for a PSA test at Labcorp facility in Chula Vista CA. Now 8 weeks and still no results received. Contacted them many times, still nothing. They refuse any reimbursement. Do not use this company , I can only conclude they are a scam company. read more

Fast and efficient, but not the friendliest service. Upon arrival there are kiosks where you self check in. There is a desk there, but they just collect any work orders you have. You are expected to self check in and then wait for them to call your name. The wait was short, and I was in and out within 10 minutes. read more

Courtesy and speed are not priorities for Labcorp staff. When I arrived for my appointment I was totally ignored by the staff behind the reception desk. When I did get their attention, they were unhelpful and could not give me correct check-in instructions. I was not seen until 60 minutes after my scheduled appointment, and then had to wait in a small cubicle, alone, for another 15, until a technician came in to draw my blood. She tried twice, but was unable to do the draw. She went to get someone else to try, and that person left me waiting for 10 more minutes before she ambled in. She also had a hard time sticking me, and blamed me for it. My husband had a similar experience when he went for his test the next day, so it's unlikely that their care is ever any better. read more

I have never given anyone this low of a review before, but frankly my experience here was appalling. I wish I could give 0 stars, but 1 is probably fair since at least the process of making an appointment and checking in was smooth and painless. That said, I was stuck with a needle a total of 3 times by 2 different lab technicians who utterly and completely failed at their job. Even after the 3rd time (with each stick becoming increasingly painful), they were unable to draw enough blood to run any of the tests ordered by my primary care physician. I refused to let them try a 4th time, and will ask my PCP to refer me elsewhere. This was my first and likely last time at LabCorp, at least at this location. I have always had fairly easy blood draws (no tech has ever had to stick me more than once until this experience), and made sure to hydrate well before my appointment. The two techs I encountered were simply unprofessional and poorly trained. read more

The type of care at the front desk was abismal. She was incompetent and wouldn't help me get through my appointment. Because of this, I had to cancel my lab, recieving a refund, but being ripped off by a not known " 20 dollar refund fee". It is insane how badly trained she was. Based on her performance, with such a simple problem as mine, which was just changing a name ( which a labcorp staff I called on the phone told me to put) was such an impossible task for her. read more

Seriously, how crappy is this place!! Horrible service, super slow and everyone has an attitude problem. Parking is a f nightmare! Came here with an appointment for a blood test and the whole experience was horrible! I was emailed instructions to do express check in and of course this place is stuck in the dinosaur age and does not have express check in. You still have to write your name on the sheet of paper and they have to manually enter everything into the system, which takes forever, how fast does humans type and how fast does a computer process. A 10min blood draw turned into a 45min ordeal. Not to mention parking was a nightmare. Took me 10 min to find a spot. Avoid! read more

They are caring and fit me in even tho I did not have an appointment. There is a confusion seeing they have 2 locations in La Jolla. One is being remodeled so the temporary room was on another floor. The other one is on the other side of the hospitals. Confusing to my mapsyikes. read more

I had lab work done at this place, recommended by my doctor. They said specifically all my work would be 100% covered with no co payment. I received a bill in the mail from labcorp with a $55 owed. I called to dispute and they said their employees have no right to tell me what I owe or don't owe, but regardless I owe it. Unacceptable. read more

Excellent experience. Walked in and was seen immediately. Very nice phlebotomist. Easiest blood draw experience I've ever had

Is there such a thing as zero stars?!?! Went to genesse location yesterday. There was a sign on the door saying the location was closed for the day. Showed up again this morning. Still closed. An employee was waiting outside and told me that they were closed yesterday because the person who opens the lab is WAS SICK!!!!!! Really?!?! Only ONE person has a key and they had to shut down the whole operation!!?! It was the same situation this morning but they had to wait for a supervisor to open up. The facility opened up a half hour late. Upon check in there computers were down. 45 minutes later when they weee up and running, they said they didn't have any record of my orders in their system!!!!! Get it together Lancorp! You have ONE JOB and you can't even manage to do it correctly! read more

In and out quickly as a walk-in. Used the express check-in kiosk. No line. The man who drew my blood was friendly and professional. My only complaint would be about the parking. Had to circle around the parking structure a couple times before finding the last (very small) spot. Came in at 9:15a. read more

I had the distinct pleasure of utilizing the LabCorp Office @ 9850 Genesee Ave . Suite 102 La Jolla, CA 92037. I arrived 40 minutes early for my 08:30 Lab Work/Blood Draw and was shocked to see I was the only Monday morning patient in the office. A polite, young man by the name of Juan asked if I needed any help checking-in. Afterwards he took my paperwork and directed me to be seated for my Blood Draw, clearly 30 minutes+ early. I was literally flabbergasted. Most everything I had read on the internet was written by "cranky-pants" people complaining about filthy, over crowed offices and/or rude as well as poorly trained technicians at this location. I suffered none of these issues. I encourage everyone to use this facility and seek out Juan for both his competence and congenial demeanor. P.S. I was provided service in less than 30 minutes, hence, I did not need to pay for parking in the close-by parking high rise read more

Seemed a little disorganized. I used the phone app to check in but when I arrived I sat there for 20 minutes and had to ask when I would be seen. They had me check in the normal way on paper and said the app doesnt work?? Also you have to pay to park at this location. I like the other north county locations better. I'm on TRT and must get blood tests every other month... read more

The staff members are slow and rude. I had to wait 40 minutes to drop off my 90 year old mother's urine sample. It had already been collected, so it was in a container and in the plastic bag. All they had to do was enter the information into the computer. read more

Super shady - avoid at all costs. I did not have the heavy wait experience although the employees were certainly rude and jaded. I'm guessing its because they are treated the same way labcorp treats their customers? The heavy wait time I experienced was when it turns out that they billed me a different amount than they showed my insurance. Just to be clear, that billing difference was a full 250% above the amount they showed to my insurance. Further, the amount that my insurance 'allows' for this VERY ROUTINE test, they charged 600% of that price. And this is what's wrong with medicine in America...seriously the idea that a company can take a very minor test and just fleece people for it knowing that most people will just pay it to make them go away is one of the most awful things one can do. However, just in case you were wondering, Labcorp reported a shockingly massive profit level (double digit increases in revenue): http://phx.corporate-ir.net/phoenix.zhtml?c=84636&p=irol-newsArticle&ID=2359858 I wonder how they got that? Oh yeah by being horrible, shady people. Take a look across yelp and you will see that everyone is giving their locations horrible reviews. Do everything you can to avoid these people. read more

This place is way too small . I came for blood work because my local labcorp near my house closed. I did not know this location was on the UCSD hospital campus ! Parked in a garage , walked into building 9850, the sign says Ste 120 is on that floor BUT there's no signs or indications what part of the building! The door I entered, the other side of that wall has an arrow pointing to where labcorp is. Ugh I'm suppose to be on strict bed rest and this place had me walking everywhere!!!! I even called and no one answered. After finding the door, this place is SMALL only 1 front desk person , and 3-4 seats . Waiting room is soooo small. I checked in at the kiosk .... Let's hope it really checked me in cause I'm over this already . Never coming back here again . read more

Had a great experience for the antibody test at this location. At first I had an appt at the Clairemont location and the staff was so insanely rude and unprofessional that I transferred my appt here. They were patient and helpful to all walk ins and appts and I will be recommending my friends and family go to this location for any routine lab work read more

Considering the number of patients ahead of us, the wait was unreasonably long for basic lab work. We waited approximately an hour before being acknowledged (even after signing in and checking in on their iPad kiosk). The staff seem to be friendly, but stressed due to complaining patients. The manager/owner of this location needs to hire more staff to facilitate the walk-ins and appointments. Especially considering the lab analysis isn't even done on site. read more

Don't bother making an appointment. I made one and sat in the office for an hour past my appointment time.

Despite having an appointment and the place being relatively empty, I had to wait a lot. The front desk was unmanned for a significant amount of time upon my arrival too. Adding insult to injury, parking was a nightmare too. I'd advise coming here if you're not in a rush and of the patient variety. Patience is not one of my virtues, which is why I thought an appointment would make things faster. read more

Labcorp itself was a great experience. I made an appointment in the morning and they took me early. I was out within 20 minutes of parking and leaving so parking was free. Labcorp techs were very friendly and did a good job. Scripps memorial itself is a bit of a cluster with all the construction which is the only thing preventing this from being an awesome experience. I suggest arriving early so you have time to navigate the construction and parking structures. Also Labcorp is in the imagine building and not the main building (head out back to where the valet parking is and Labcorp is on the right) read more

this Labcorp is DANGEROUS to your health!!! it is filthy! in the midst of the Covid issue this place should be SHUT DOWN! it extremely small with no fresh air or air circulation. people cannot get thru the very narrow area with the filthy toilet on one side and the desk on the other, where people are standing to speak to the person filling in your info on the computer the staff is nasty! they are understaffed the only good thing to be said is that the female who did the blood draw was excellent! Shame on Scripps Hospital!!! this Labcorp should be shut down immmediately read more

I have cancer so of course there is frequent lab monitoring of my blood and other fluids, due to flare-ups, diminished immune system, and Rx drug related side issues. So over the past 10 years I have visited many a lab site. This LabCorp office is absolutely the most disorganized, irresponsible, understaffed, unmanaged, dirty, slipshod, filthy and negligent site I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with. Covid 19 precautions? Eh. Distancing, masking required of waiting patients? Acknowledging arrival of a new arrival in the office? Eh. They can't be bothered really, including unmasked delivery person who just sails through the hallway to deposit his load. Front desk is never 'man-ed'. In my recent case (and very ill), I was required to pick up from that lab the appropriate vials to place a number of samples in and retained at different temperatures until returned to same lab. 10 days later, extremely ill and looking for answers, I was informed they had no record or knowledge of my turning in the samples to that site, and I must be mistaken. This even though they made me sign a logbook of entry in the back lab area, each sample had it's own bag including Dr's orders and identifying data pertaining to me specifically written on each vial and the plastic bag containing it. In other words........they lost them! Next day I was in the Emergency. During the 7 hours there, it was concluded to release me without the samples they needed, but with two sterile cups to provide samples in each asap, and get it immediately back to that same lab with a new Dr's orders, this time from ER doc at that hospital location! I would have thought that might show a little clout, but NO, 3-4 days later we were informed "inappropriate containers, therefore thrown out". This lab site is a joke, and a dangerous one at that. Avoid at all costs. In fact go to a different lab company entirely! read more

Terrible service at this location. I had to fast for my bloodwork and was feeling dizzy. I went inside the office to ask how long my wait would be. I had already been waiting outside for 2 hours. The red-headed lady sitting at the front desk yelled at me to wait outside. She wouldn't let me speak. She kept yelling louder for me to wait outside. There is no excuse for this type of treatment. I will never go to this location again. This woman should not be allowed to treat customers this way. I was not feeling well and she didn't even care. read more

The first available appointment I could find was 2 weeks out so booked that. Then when I arrived not much guidance, they also were running 20-30minutes late on appointments. Which was really frustrating as I had a appointment booked and had limited amount of time I got off work. Super unorganized and not very helpful experience. read more

Even though the wait can be slow (upwards of hours), they keep the place clean despite always being so busy and they handle the stress so well. Given the popularity of this location they really should get a bigger suite. I had to go here probably 10 times in 4 months and they always did a great job with the draw and I really don't like needles. I was really happy with the phlebotomists accuracy and cleanliness every time, which is the most important factor when choosing a facility. read more

TLDR: this location sucks, horrible customer service, go to Moraga Ave location instead. Employees are wonderful there. I had probably the worst customer service experience I have ever had at this lab Corp location. Have a standing order for monthly bloodwork from my doctor, come to this location and they say that they do not have anything in their system. I have my doctor fax them a new electronic order, TWICE, they say they didn't get it and then they say that they cannot use it because it does not have enough information on it (I've used this order at other lab Corp locations and have never had an issue). I try to get my doctor to call the location, and their phone doesn't work. They don't do anything to try to fix it. My doctor even calls the Lab Corp call center, and the call centers says that they have no issue finding the order -- the call center even tried calling this location, and they do not pick up. A total waste of my time, I ended up spending an hour going back and forth with the employees before going home, no lab work done. They seemed entirely unwilling to work with me. BTW, after work that day I went to the Labcorp location on Moraga Ave. Was able to get my blood work done within 10 min of arriving. Totally painless experience, and magically they had no issue with finding my paperwork... read more

This is a poorly run company. Employees are not trained properly. Shortcuts that impact patient health are taken. Phlebotomists are expected to act as receptionists. This is an example of a company that is making money at the top by cutting corners in training, facility cleanliness, patient care, etc. Unconscionable that there is not an MD physician in the office for emergencies, staff training and to ensure medical protocols are upheld.
