Q Med Laboratory - Look for this place!

Q Med Laboratory

Call me crazy, but I'm one of those people who likes their blood and prefer keeping it inside me at…read moreall times. My doctor, however, insists on taking some of it out from time to time for god-only-knows-what. I recently started having these bloodletting rituals take place at Q Med, and I recommend them should you also have a bloodthirsty doctor. In my experience there's usually a couple of options for getting your blood drawn and lab work, it's either a hospital affiliated lab like Del Sol, which has dedicated professionals but involves a lot of paperwork and wait times, or one of those places where they do employment drug tests, which are faster but the person drawing your blood isn't always very tactful and caring. Q Med, is the best of both worlds: a small clinic with short waits and super careful staff. In case you haven't gathered, I have a bit of a needle phobia, and while I'll never stop being anxious, my Q Med blood draws have been nearly painless and I don't have to sit in a waiting room for 45 minutes thinking about what's about to happen. Quick turnaround on lab results too!

This lab is wonderful! They have a friendly staff and very clean facility's. The best part is that…read moreI don't have insurance and they gave me the best price in town! Ooh one more thing, I have horrible veins and usually it takes 3 to 4 tries before getting a vein, but NOT AT THIS PLACE! I can tell their staff has experience because they took the blood sample on the first try. I am no longer scared to get my blood work done, i will always go to Q Med.

Immunize El Paso - This is the day after he got his shots. It looks swollen and red, most likely going to be bruised if not already.

I came to this clinic around 3pm on a Friday it was pretty busy. My son does not have insurance and they thankfully accepted us with a $20 fee for all his shots which I am so thankful for! Most of the nurses were very nice and helpful to the people they were caring for; some of which helped assist me even though they were assisting others. My issue is not entirely with the clinic but the woman, Eileen, who cared for my son although I would NOT call it caring at all. (1) Eileen did not seem to be competent or confident in what she was doing. When I would ask her questions she had to ask others employees to answer for us. Even while sitting down doing paperwork she kept asking the woman next to her for help while they were already trying to assist another client! (2) She told us to go to a room which was already occupied! we had to stand around until we were directed by another staff member where to go. (3) When she came in, there was no type of briefing for my child; she didn't explain to any of us what shots he was getting. There was no conversation with my child to let him understand what was happening or what she will be performing, she just stabbed him in the arm with the needle! As a parent this is very unusual in my experience, when there is an invasive and painful procedure being done you usually want to let the child have some kind of understanding of who you are, what your doing, and what to expect. You know, as a stranger invading their personal space? (4) He was crying of course which is expected and since he was getting 5 SHOTS, he was over it by the 2nd one and began to fight and squirm. My mother and I were trying everything to make him stay still and calm him down but she impatiently gave him a shot WHILE HE WAS MOVING. (5) By the last shot she had asked another staff member to step in and help. They did the shot quick and efficient which made me realize how slow our nurse was taking! She left the room almost immediately. There was no comforting from her at all. (6) We asked about aftercare or what to do if my son gets sick. She shrugged her shoulders and told us he shouldn't get sick??? Another staff member had to step in and tell us what we needed to know for aftercare. DO NOT GIVE HIM ASPIRIN for example. (7) To put the cherry on top of it all she didn't even give me back my immunization card after everything was over or even fill it out!! Thankfully there was still staff who stayed after hours to give it back to me. They must have checked to see if she recorded what shots my son got and signed it off for her. For all the parents that are taking there kids here her name was Eileen. I will be taking my son to another clinic and will NOT be returning. Mahalo to the competent staff that stepped in for Eileen! Clearly she was in training but lacks empathy and consideration which can't be taught.
