It couldn't be more obvious that the review of 24th Feb 2011 was written by the management/owners of La Vita. My family and I went to La Vita on 28/01/2012 (a Saturday), after moving to the Newcastle area on that day, based on a recommendation. We were extremely disappointed with the quality of the food, but the service was satisfactory. The restaurant, on arrival at 8pm, was virtually empty. We certainly did not need to worry about getting a table! We were given some bread and butter whilst we ordered our food. We each ordered different meals for both starter and main course. One member of the family ordered deep fried mozzarella (Mozzarella in carozza) for starter, which turned out to be cold in the middle, and another ordered mushrooms in a white wine sauce (Funghi delta casa) which was not very warm. A third ordered asparagus wrapped in parma ham, on a bed of cauliflower 'puree' (Asparagi avvolti in prosciutto di parma). Again, this was not particularly warm, and the 'puree' was more like crushed cauliflower. Each member of the family commented on the main courses (which included Cacciatore, Al Forno and Vita) being edible, but not particularly special, with one even commenting on the resemblance to a reheated shop bought meal. One member of the family declined the offer of dessert as their main was so poor. Those who did order ordered the bread and butter pudding and the chocolate fudge cake. Whilst the chocolate fudge cake was average, those who ordered the bread and butter pudding described it as the worst dessert they had ever had in a restaurant.
Overall, fairly cheap, but very poor quality food. read more
