a menu for a mexican restaurant

A beautiful day to be on the road. We took AR 16 south out of Siloam Springs. The first few miles are fun, narrow and curvy. Then we cut south on N. Jackson Highway. Not sure how this could be called a highway. It was a rural Arkansas 2 lane mostly straight, that gives you a tour of the rustic Arkansas rural life. A scenic country few miles that delivered us into the town square in downtown Lincoln. As we pulled into town the city cop saw the orange sports car and flipped on his radar, hoping to make a few bucks for the city coffer. Sorry dude, I saw you first. You are going to have to be quicker on the draw. So, watch out for the local deputy dog when you pull into town. Several of the buildings downtown look like they are about to implode from neglect and decay. But not La Villa. It is the bright spot. Renovated and nicely decorated inside and out; it truly stands out, shining like a diamond in a goat's butt. The town square is charming, even with some of the dilapidated structures that circle the centerpiece of the square, an unidentified building that may have been City Hall at one time in its life. Inside the old building, now La Villa, is a showcase example of what an ingenious architect and interior designer can do to revitalize these old structures. A pleasant surprise, unexpected. A hint of Mexican décor, but nothing gawdy. It is a very comfortable environment. The special today was the Alambre, my wife's choice. I have never had this. I tasted of it and it was delicious, I would describe it as a meat lovers pizza without tomato sauce and the crust. It is a pile of chicken, steak, ham and bacon sautéed bell peppers and onion. Beans, rice, guacamole and sour cream on the side. This is a great meal, try it. Conspiracy theory here. Can you guess what the number 20 is on La Villa's combination menu. Yep, my favorite a Chili relleno and a taco. I have had some of the worst chili rellenos in Arkansas' Mexican restaurants, that exist on earth. Not wanting to experience that today, I asked the waitress how they were prepared. The cute, but clueless young lady struggled to describe them. One of the other waiters heard the question and chimed in "A good sized poblano battered fried and covered with queso." Ok, I am in with that! It was good. The food and service were fantastic! The flavorful salsas and crisp chips set the tone for the meal. Plates of food that were worth the drive. A very unusual find, hiding in a small town....in Arkansas!

Excellent experience overall. I had the chicken taco plate, it was so good. We started off with…read moreGuac dip and it is perfectly done, chips thin and crispy with perfect seasonings. My friend had a plate of nachos. Healthy servings. For dessert we shared the Sopapilla, enough for two and that ice cream to die for. Highly recommend

Went here for a team building work lunch. This was my first time dining here and I really liked…read morethe decor and overall ambiance, but it was really busy and fairly loud inside. There were 8 people in our group and they ended up seating us outside which wasn't a problem as it was warm and sunny. Once seated our server took our drink order quickly and followed up shortly with taking an order for appetizers. Which also came out fairly quickly. Our server then took our entree orders. He returned three or four times to replenish/refill drinks for the females in our group but ignored me and the other male in our group, until we asked for a refill. Our entree's took about 20 - 25 minutes to come out and there were several minutes between the first and last to make it to the table. In the business district of the town where most of their lunchtime weekday customers are workers on lunch break they need to be getting the food out the kitchen quicker. As for the food presentation was nice. Everyone's dishes looked really fresh and appetizing. Two of our team had the shrimp taco's and they was so much moisture in them they ended up eating them with a knife and fork. Another two on our team had the Quesabirria. They said it tasted good but had more cheese than Burria. As for my own dish, I had the poblanos with steak, which is three enchiladas covered in a poblano sauce with a side of rice. The portion was a reasonable size but the steak was chewy and while it wasn't bad the poblano sauce just didn't impress me. It was just plain in flavor, with not much poblano flavor. Like I mentioned earlier we were seated outside. I was about two thirds the way through my meal and found a small black hair in the sauce. Where we were sat was pretty breezy so I cannot say if the hair came with my meal or if it was blown onto my food, but it was not the best end to what I would call a lackluster meal.

The service is very good. The food is tasty. We had the Mexican Flag Burrito (Chopped beef filled flour burrito, with red, queso and verde sauce), beans, rice a little Pico de Gallo and a dab of guacamole. No complaints at all about the flavor of the food. The chopped steak in the burrito had several no chew'ems that I had to fish out of my mouth and make them available for a return trip to the kitchen. The other flaw was the food temperature. The food may have been warm when placed on the plate, but the plate was not hot. A big failure. Good Mexican food really needs to be served piping hot and on hot plates. The food here is not TexMex. It is more of a traditional version. The restaurant is clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. Their specialty seems to be seafood, with many options on the menu. There was a plate of oysters served, that looked quite delicious. Casa Mexico is worth a try. Fair, don't expect to be blown away.
