Terrific Italian food in a genuine family-style atmosphere (unlike Maggiano's for example). We had arranged for a large party of about 20. It was easy to do so and the manager was very helpful with menu choices, pricing, and other details. The day of the event the waitstaff were incredibly helpful and friendly, serving family style dishes. We married here 32 years ago then back every five years or so. The food is still out of this world best Italian restaurant in Chicago by far I had the chicken à la Villa outstanding I had mine boneless my wife had chicken Vesuvio boneless and it comes with soup and salad also superb. It's nice I have an option with the chicken dishes if you want boneless or bone in. My Wife had a side of mostaccioli with marinara was very good. The staff is out of this world to do anything to help you Chris the owner very nice lady, she stop and make sure everybody is enjoying their meal even when she is at her busiest time she's always been like that the year that we've been going there. they just celebrated their 50 years in business. I think they can go another 50 years at least with the quality of their food, only getting better as years go by. We did a catering package for 4 for Mother's Day and it came Sicilian bone in chicken, medallion steak pizzaiola, mash taters, gravy, mixed veggies, slices of French bread, tirimasu, and a wine gift set, all for $107 and we have leftovers!! THIS REVIEW IS FOR THE OYSTERS ROCKEFELLER ONLY. First, I have enjoyed the food I have had from La Villa including the oysters rockefeller for some time. Service has been very good; including delivery. Unfortunately, it seems the preparation of the oysters has changed. They now smother the "oyster rockefeller" with mozzarella or similar cheese, which overwhelm and dominate the spinach and oyster experience. Sorry to say, I will no longer be ordering the "oyster quesadillas". Being different isn't always good. read more

I REALLY enjoyed the eggplant parm! Good portion- heavy on the cheese. It came with pasta and marinara. The rigatoni was good enough and sauce was pretty good. My son loves eggplant parm sandwiches and this looked great. It was a big sloppy mess. I've only done carryout and it is not close to me. I wish it was in my neighborhood, because it is a special trip that involves dealing with road construction. Also, for the special trip, there are other places equidistant that I'd choose over this one. Next time, I may be tempted to order the chicken vesuvio, or not - the eggplant was REALLY good. read more

This was our first restaurant experience at La Villa. My hub & I split the chicken parm dinner. He had the soup while I had the crispy, fresh salad with creamy garlic dressing. The chicken parm had too much breading, too much sauce, too much cheese and not enough chicken, altho shared. Our friends shared a ribeye which we will get next time. We will be back! Wasn't sure but upon tasting it the flavors were so good tortellini , calamari salad,artichoke salad, pastA salad,tuna salad, picked herring , beets . Went here for date night and the food was not good.. Ordered a Caesar salad, and I got a house salad with Caesar dressing. I ordered an entrée that came with pasta and there was pasta water on my plate, they did not drain the pasta very well at all. I asked for a cocktail and the bartender in the strata had to ask me how I would like my drink made. If you want to come here for pizza I suppose that's OK but if you want a true Italian entrée then I would pass and go to a real authentic Italian restaurant. Will not be going back.... read more

La Villa is a national treasure. Its ambiance is frozen in time in the best way--warm, quaint, and classic. But this is no average Italian restaurant. For example, how many other Italian restaurants can modify most of their menu items to be gluten-free? La Villa makes it happen. Their gf pasta and pizza is fantastic, but it's the adjustments they're willing to make to my old favorite dishes that I appreciate the most. THE FOOD/PRICE: When you sit down at the table they bring you a regular bread basket, warm slices of focaccia, and a plate of roasted garlic cloves, parmesan, spices and olive oil for dipping. I can't eat the bread but I'm told it is divine. Try not to fill up on it, though, because entrees come with soup AND a trip to their salad bar which features an impressive variety of antipasto salads in addition to the standard offerings. The entrees themselves are HUGE--they'd be a fair price even if they didn't come with all the extras, but once you add in the 2 kinds of bread w/dipping oil, soup, and salad, their prices are the best value in town. But it doesn't end there. If you go during Festa Italiana, you can get a 7-course meal for under $30 (including a glass of wine and coffee with dessert). You read that correctly. IT. IS. AMAZING. THE SERVICE: I am impressed every time. Honestly, I would come here even if the service was lousy (the food would be worth it), but every server we've had has been friendly, attentive, and thoughtful. Edith was our server last night and she was phenomenal. She made up the nicest hot tea service for me, and was not at all flustered by my (admittedly annoying) menu modification requests.
