I was hoping to purchase sourdough bread, but unfortunately, it is only available by pre-order. When I mentioned to one of the bakers that I am diabetic and unable to eat regular bread, I was pleasantly surprised to learn that they offer pastries made with almond flour, coconut flour, and monk fruit sweetener. I truly appreciate businesses that consider customers with dietary restrictions. This bakery is a great option for people who are diabetic, watching their carbohydrate intake, or looking for alternatives to traditional flour-based pastries. The bakery itself was clean, inviting, and well maintained. The staff were helpful and informative, making the experience even more enjoyable. I would definitely recommend El Mejor Pan de Tecate, especially for anyone looking for delicious baked goods with healthier options available.

We had the chicken pesto panini, ham and cheese sandwich, mushroom quiche, and blueberry macarons everything was fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with exceptional care and quality ingredients. What made the experience even more special was how warm and personal Chef Christophe and his wife were in greeting their guests. I had a fun chat with Chef Christophe, and it instantly made the space feel less like a bakery and more like the kind of neighborhood café you can't wait to return to. That genuine hospitality, paired with such incredible craftsmanship, is a rare combination. San Marcos is incredibly lucky to have a patisserie of this caliber right in our backyard. Already looking forward to my next visit!

I wanted to love this little bakery but I will need to settle for "like" for now…read more By noon on a Sunday, every single pastry and baked good, except for macarons, sandwiches, and one lonely peanut butter cookie, was gone. You snooze, you lose. I will make an effort to come far earlier some time to try out their good stuff. (We did buy the last cookie.) The chicken pesto sandwich was delicious. The bread was outstanding. It is a pricey $15 or so. The cookie had almost no flavor. That was a disappointment. We tried some iced coffee drinks and they were just average. AND they charged for adding half and half. I have never paid for cream in my coffee anywhere other than when I buy it in a carton in a grocery store. For a place which charges extremely high prices for everything, charging for cream is robbery. It is a small robbery but it is still a robbery. Starbucks doesn't charge for cream and neither does Denny's. Don't charge for cream. Come on. I don't like referring to other businesses in my reviews, but if you want coffee, do yourself a huge favor and get it from Necessity Coffee almost literally across the street. It is fantastic. And they don't charge for cream. I will return--early--to try the pastries.
