The deluxe pedicure boasted extra attention to calluses. I have never had so little attention paid and the dead skin on my feet - which was the main reason I went - looks exactly the same as before the $50. Nary a pumice stone or grater to be seen, just the little buffing sponge with no pressure applied. I would have had more calluses removed walking in the sand on the beach. And the massage was more like rubbing hands over skin than any actual massage. Plus, he was so gingerly with the clippers that he cut into my nail bed under my toenail. Yes that hurts as much as it sounds like it hurts. You would think after making someone bleed, that you might charge them for the regular pedicure and not the deluxe, but not here. I go here to get my nails done. I was actually referred by the owner of Pho Valley up the road. His sister owns this establishment, or manages it. First of all, it's clean. I haven't gotten a pedicure yet, but I watch them disinfect the basins every time they finish one. I love that they use rolled hand towels instead of paper towels when you wash your hands. They smell amazing! The nail techs are gentle and pay attention to detail. I also love that they massage your hands when they are finished and put a steaming hot towel on your hands once they're done. Everyone is nice and professional. Highly recommend! read more

I am satisfied with my nails after my gel manicure today and they look pretty. But I am giving only a 3 rating because the entire time of my manicure (about 45 min) the operator was nonstop loud talking with another employee sitting in the chair next to us in a language I didn't understand. This was not the "relaxing calm pampered experience" they advertise on their site and I felt invisible. They should try to engage more with the paid client to give them a more positive experience. I had to leave a review because I was almost swayed from going because of one of the ones on here. This place is really good. Every single employee was smiling and friendly. I watched them open new foot scrubbers, sanitize the bowls after every pedicure (probably a dozen or more were done while I was there) which is all required and should be normal but you'd be surprised the salons that do not do that. I got a basic pedicure and they spent a literal hour on me while in an amazing massage chair, with an amazing leg and foot massage. Then I had them fix a seriously jacked up manicure and my new one looks fantastic. For an HOUR pedicure/leg and foot massage, gel polish, and a full set dip nail manicure, it was under $100. Well.. I didn't think my experience at la vie nail salon would end up like this! I always go to la vie for shorter acrylic or dip nails, which they are good for, but not for anything more fancy or designs.... My friend came with me for her first time there. The first picture is what she showed and the other is what she got! for $50 that's horrible. She wanted similar to the reference photo.(I know it's not a salon that specializes in long nails/good designs) but if he knew he couldn't do something similar why waste the whole time for them to look like that? I don't know the employees name that did the nails. Also, for half of the time she was getting her nails done another employee was standing next to their nail station watching her get her nails done. I understand if you're learning, but you can tell she was uncomfortable that someone was staring/watching her for a while. The only reason she walked away was to go do a pedicure and then another employee also came up and was watching her nails.... I'm not sure if it's because how horrible they looked or what! My friend went back in to tell them she didn't like them and if they could take the color off so she can paint them herself at home and Linda(the owner or manager) came over and looked at them like nothing was wrong, but said she would have them repainted, so my friend got a plain white color and refunded $5 for her set.(got her tip back I guess) it should've been refunded and the owner should have re done them not the person who messed them up, but of course she didn't offer to do so. I wouldn't recommend going if you want anything more than basic done. I do say they are good at the dip and basic colors on acrylic. The salon was remodeled recently and does look amazing though. The price list did go up. BTW this was longer acrylic nails with GEL POLISH! I'm not sure if I will revisit this salon. Hope this review helps. read more

I hadn't had my nails done in a LONG time when I made this appointment, and I let that be known when I made it. So, I had some questions, some concerns, and was looking for some information and advice as much as I was looking for a new look. When I arrived I was ignored by all the employees. Another customer greeted me. After sitting for 10mins, one of the employees handed me a book of nail colors, told me to pick one and walked away. When I was finally called to a tech I wanted to ask about the best options for my nails - which were already long. I showed her my nails and started asking about how to best go forward- I was hoping to have them coated, rather than having tips put on. She grabbed my hand and started chopping them off. Fine, I was willing to deal with this, but I was not happy. Then I showed her the color I wanted. She told me it wasn't a "spring color" and I should choose again. I said: "My nails are almost always black." By which I meant I always have very dark nails. She raised her voice and started telling me "That's not black." I know it's not, but it's what I wanted. Finally I got her to agree to give me the color I wanted. For the rest of the appointment she barely spoke - To me. She talked to the other employees, in a language I did not understand (which makes me wonder if they weren't discussing customers). She chatted on the phone. She even stopped to answer a text message. If all that wasn't enough she burned me with the file - twice - and she clipped (some) of my cuticles, even after I asked her not to. Then, all said and done, she tried to upsell me by insulting me. She asked if I wanted my eyebrows done and when I said no she told me they looked bad and she could make me look pretty. The nails, all said and done, are fine. They're nothing special. She seemed so uninterested and rude that I didn't feel comfortable discussing designs, so I didn't get one. But for a basic square tip and color,she did an acceptable job... But the level of rudeness and failure to listen to anything I said coupled with what may have been a language barrier has lead me to go elsewhere from then on. read more

I went here two different times for an acrylic refill (but missing three nails) and got charged $55 and $45!! (Random pricing) The price list that they have says it should have been $25 for a refill, but when I question the nail tech and ask why it's now $55, he tells me that it's because I got ombré glitter. Overall my experience here was great. I've only been here a few times, but each time was pleasant. If I had an option to give them 4 1/2 stars, I would because the issues I have are minor. 1 for instance is that they take a quite a while with pretty much everything they do. I wouldn't say this is that big of a deal because they do it to make sure everything is good, I'd just say make sure you go there on a day that you have time. My 2nd issue is that it's sometimes hard to get in touch with them, but overall the experience there is pretty good. One of the best around the mon valley if not THE best. read more

After seeing a bad review I was nervous to go but after trying to go to other salons ended up here. LOVED IT!!! I am a forever customer. The young woman I had spent at least 20 minutes massaging my legs. I got a gel manicure and pedicure. She made sure everything was to my liking made me feel super comfortable. Prices were great for the quality you received and was inexpensive. Make sure when you go you bring cash for a tip I wish I would've known when we went. I don't recommend this place at all. My nails turned out horrible. I got acrylics and the guy cut me with the nail grinder and I started to bleed. Then once it began to scab the man pulled off the scab and watched it bleed! He didn't even apologize, he just said "oh this is no good." Then on my toes I asked for a blue hibiscus flower and he said he could do it. The photos will show my "hibiscus flowers." He also failed to remove the calluses on my feet when he scrubbed the bottoms. He wasn't even paying attention to my feet while he was doing it. I scheduled appointments for my daughter and I for 5pm, they did not take us until 5:30. Linda did my nails and she did a decent job. Not friendly tho. Her husband did my daughters nails. She is 12 and this was her first time getting acrylic nail. He asked what kind of tip my daughter wanted and she told him square. So as he filing and filing away she asked for them to be square and not pointed. He ignored her. Her 2 thumb nails were completely different and while they were drying, we had asked him to fix them. he said OK. then he walked away and started doing someone else's nails. When I approached him and asked him the second time he gave me the most dirtiest scariest look I've ever seen from a man. And then when we were checking out, he charged an extra five dollars for the way he filed my daughters nails. I specifically told him she wanted square nails, we even pointed to the example so there should have been no confusion. So he took advantage of this being her first time getting her nails done and basically filed them how he wanted to make the extra five dollars. He continued to be very rude to me and argued with me that my daughter said she liked the shaped. I have never been treated like this before. read more

This place is ok. They do not always charge you the same price, even if you always get the same service (I always get a regular acrylic fill with gel polish) . They give me a hard time when I ask for just a polish change on my toes instead of a full pedicure. And they are not very fast. It took an hour and 40 minutes just for a fill with gel polish and a polish change on my toes. Only 2 people working on a Sunday. I suppose their prices are still much better than a salon in McMurray, and it sure beats driving all the way to McMurray. read more
