We got the closest table to the lake with our lake view obstructed by tent kiosks of vendors cleaning up at 630pm. Service is good, with me getting the 13 euro black spaghetti with squid, mussels amid a delicious saffron cream. The black pasta tastes just like regular colored pasta. 3 large mussels adds flavor to the light cream sauce. Various bits of perfectly cooked squid enhances the flavor and the presentation. Wife had the 13 euro ravioli stuffed with milky cheese and vegetables julienne. Exactly 4 ravioli. I would have ordered the meat ravioli. Bill comes with a coperti, or cover charge of 2 euros per person, or 4 euros, plus a 2.5 euro charge for water, which comes in a bottle. plus the 26 euros for the two pasta dishes. 6.5 euros or $8 for mandatory water and cover charges for each couple, before you even order the first course. Good meal, but not much of a view at 630pm, with the vendor's kiosks blocking our lake view. Highest table tax yet at 4 euros. We didn't want to have the kitchen open back up for us if they were already wrapping up. They assured us the kitchen wouldn't be closed for another 15 minutes so to come on in. We ordered the pizza, and the pizza guy had a meltdown. Apparently he had already started cleaning up for the night. We felt bad but also a little off putting that he would make such a scene in front of all the guests. Other than that we had a wonderful meal.

When was the last time you had to travel by boat to a restaurant?…read more Came here for our tour farewell dinner on our 10 day Collette tour "Mountain Trains and Alpine Lakes" with our tour group. 10 minute boat ride from Baveno to Isola Pescatori in Lago Maggiore. On our way over, we were overtaken by the type of motor boats which haul water skiers from behind. Beautiful setting with mountains on lakeside amid deep blue waters, and setting sun. Lakefront restaurant for our tour group, with everyone trying to get a seat with a view of the lake, yet under the sun umbrellas in the 86 degree July heat. Appetizer dish of dried beef with salad dressed with oil and lemon came first. First course was pasta: spaghetti, spinach ravioli or vegetarian lasagna. These were like sample dishes, easily fit in a cereal bowl. Wife had the spinach ravioli, while I enjoyed the vegetable lasagna, but gave new meaning to "Gone in 60 seconds". Main course was lamb thigh, duck breast, chicken with braised onions, vegetarian flan with cheese fondue, or lavarello fillet. Wife had the lamb and I had the chicken. Lamb was cooked medium, while wife preferred it rare, so I switched dishes and ate the lamb. That's what husbands are for-to eat food wife doesn't care for. And why she married me! Food was average, but fantastic setting, great ambiance, and well organized logistics to feed a party of 41 in a timely and orderly manner. Local cat under the table to eat any food falling to the ground! Beautiful scenery with sun setting on the lake on our way back to our hotel in Baveno. The service is friendly though during rush hour was erratic. Our mains took over 40 minutes to come out, in the same time that some were seated, served, and finished paying for their meals. Overall, this is well worth going to if Imbarcadero is sold out. You will have a great meal in a idyllic location. Unforgettable.
