Roughly 10" diameter pizzas for 6.50 or 7 euros? No, not at a food truck, but at a real sit down…read morerestaurant., on a busy main street, right across from the Grand Hotel Dino where we were staying in Baveno, Italy.. Open 12pm-2pm, and 7pm-10pm everyday, with 173 reviews in Tripadvisor. It's 88 degrees, and all the tables outside are taken, so we have to go inside, where it's like an oven, with near blank walls like in a hospital. They save money by reducing the ambiance and decor. Service is very slow. Wife's 7 euro vegetarian pizza comes with tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, sliced mushrooms and cucumbers, while my 6.50 euro comes with tomatoes, mozzarella cheese and sliced pieces of sausages of Frankfurt. The thin crust is absolutely delicious and tasty. Next table had spaghetti, which was almost twice as expensive, with a very small portion. The pizzas here are the cheapest in town, with most places charging at least 10 euros and up for pizza. Bill included table tax of 1.5 euros per person, plus 3.30 euros for the sprite, plus 2.50 euros for tap water which is included, even if you order a soft drink, along with the 13.5 euros for the two pizzas. One pizza could have fed both of us, but we found out the hard way what happens when you try to share a pizza in Europe. Each person must order at least one entree. 5.50 euro charge minimum for two before you even order an entrée. That's Italy. It is what it is! Both of us finished our pizzas, as the hotels in Europe don't have microwave ovens. And no pizza take out orders. Each couple has to pay the 5.50 euro ($6.50) charge for every table, to go with our 13.50 euro charge for two pizzas. Oh, by the way, those people who got a table outside had to endure second hand smoke from smokers at the other outside tables. You are no longer in California! .

After getting dinged for 4 euro, 6 euro, 8 euro table charges, finally a restaurant in Italy with…read moreno table charge! You see this restaurant the first thing you step off the boat on Lago Maggiore at Baveno, Italy, as it is right next to the ferry building. Waterfront restaurant serving pizza and Italian pasta dishes, besides the usual sandwiches and ice cream. Eating under the sun umbrellas, watching the ferries landing and passengers disembarking, all while enjoying the scenery of the deep blue waters of Italy's second largest lake, surrounded by mountains rising straight out of the waters. Get too close to the ferries and you will inhale the diesel engine fumes, coming out of the back. Came here twice for dinner, as the food was the least expensive we could find, at 6,7 or 8 euros per dish, and of average quality. Plastic tables and chairs, but at that price, who cares. First time had spaghetti bolognaise, with a healthy portion of ground beef, while the wife had the ravioli, a tourist favorite here. Second time had spaghetti, while the wife had eggplant parmigiana, I think. Both times ordered 4 euro sparkling water -hey they have to make money somehow! Final time here, sat next to a table of 4 French adults. Midway through our meal, two of them closest to us light up cigarettes, smoking up my hair and clothes. You are no longer in Sunnyvale buddy. It is what it is. Bathroom is on the other side of the adjacent ferry building, and surprise, is free to the public, complete with toilet paper and toilet seat, both of which can be occasionally missing in Italian public restrooms! Come here at night to eat in the summer, and the mosquitos will eat you for dinner!
