I typically enjoy discovering and appreciating hidden gems; however, this experience did not meet my expectations. I chose the La Te Da Hotel as the destination for my 2024 birthday vacation. After conducting research and reviewing feedback, I decided to reserve Room #27 due to its private porch -- although I later learned it is not all that private. The path to other rooms passes by this area. There are also lounge chairs in close proximity for guests to enjoy the pool and a shed hotel staff go in and out. On December 7, 2023, I booked Room #27 for September 12-16, 2024. On February 12, 2024, I was notified that the hotel would soon be renovating the historic building behind the property and guestrooms toward the rear. Consequently, my reservation for Room #27 was changed to Room #25, which I found unacceptable given my specific request for Room #27, leading me to cancel the reservation. Subsequently, I reconsidered my plans for my 2025 birthday. On December 11, 2024, I rebooked and explicitly requested Room #27 for September 4-8, 2025. However, on August 29, 2025, I received confirmation indicating Room #25. I responded to the hotel, provided last year's situation, and was assured by the hotel manager Eric that I had been reserved in Room #27, with no mention of ongoing construction. Had I been informed of the renovations, I would have canceled immediately. When I arrived on September 4, 2025, amidst heavy rain, I was unsure whether I was at the correct check-in area due to ongoing construction. The check-in space was small and covered with heavy plastic sheeting, which created an unwelcoming atmosphere. I was greeted by what appeared to be the hotel manager, along with a female employee. The manager asked if I was checking in alone, to which I confirmed that I was. The female employee remarked that I was checking in alone for my birthday; however, my birthday was the following week and my purpose was simply to relax during a solo trip, not specifically for the celebration. She seemed to have seen my email from a week earlier, as she was aware of my birthday. I later saw her again and she appeared to be sizing me up. I am unsure of her role, as I did not observe her engaged in any other duties. After check-in, the manager escorted me to my room, which did not inspire confidence. I observed rust on the mini fridge and a bathroom faucet that had been repeatedly cracked and glued. As I had an early start that morning, I planned to rest. The pillowcases were of poor quality and pulled at my hair. When I woke and retrieved items from my suitcase that I left opened, I noticed my clothes were damp. I initially noticed water on the floor upon entering the room but attributed it to rain water from my suitcase, and shoes, especially as the manager was ahead of me when I entered the room. There was a faint leak, most likely had been ongoing. Additionally, the construction which started at 8 a.m. and was disruptive. The dining options and drinks available were average. Aside from the ongoing renovation, I believe there is room for improvement in presentation and cleanliness, such as replacing stained tablecloths, discarding coffee-stained sugar packets left for next guests on dining tables, upgrading small appliances like the mini fridge and fixtures, and providing higher-quality pillowcases. Shower did not produce warm water so I endured cold showers all four days. And wi-fi service was poor. I chose not to use the pool, despite originally planning to, because it was directly visible from the dining area, which I found off-putting. During my stay, I observed only a few guests using the pool, generally one couple at a time. It is a small boutique hotel and if I heard correctly, only 8 rooms were occupied. Additionally, the room lacked a desk or vanity area for laptop, personal grooming or applying makeup. Overall, while most staff members were friendly, the overall experience has led me to decide not to return to Key West in the future.

My wife and I had the pleasure of staying at the La Te Da a week ago. It was our first time staying there, and I can confidently say it will not be the last time. This place has everything - a great restaurant, great bar, fabulous and comfortable rooms but MOST of all it has staff that are truly committed to making your stay as pleasant as possible. Lodging includes a prepared breakfast every morning. A real breakfast not a buffet with dried-out eggs or stale muffins. The lunch menu was also excellent offering a variety of great tasting salads and sandwiches. The bar was an awesome place to have an excellent cocktail and meet a variety of guests and locals. Their old-fashioned is fantastic. The location couldn't be better. It is within walking distance of everything you need to see and away from the hubbub on the other side of Duval St. It also has fantastic entertainment every night. The music was an excellent way to relax in the evening. We had the pleasure of being there during their Christmas party and toy drive for underprivileged children. The decorations on the grounds were amazing. Bring a toy and enjoy the party which included fantastic food and music. It was so great to be a part of that. I really can't say how much we enjoyed staying there. You will too!

We went to La Te Da to see Randy Roberts. What an amazing performance. I'd highly recommend if you're visiting Key West to make the reservation and check out the show. We'll definitely go back next time we're in town!

Back in Key West on a cruise stop. Had to bring my mom & sister to the best key lime pie martini I've ever had. So we're back, just like my original review said I would :) great drink, solid service, wonderful patio vibe.

Crystal Room Cabaret is located on the second floor of La Te Da. It's a theater that presents drag shows, but not the typical "hoot and howler" type of show with lip syncing. No, these are real professional class acts without any nudity, but with gorgeous costumes, good dancing, acting skills and singing voices. It's surprising and so untypical of drag performances. When I went, I was shocked as the crowd was almost all elderly, all with the appearance of being straight. Like I'm 79, and was far from being the oldest. As the theater is on the second floor and there are no elevators, you've got stair case hike. They also tell you to be there at 8:00 o'clock, but that is so they can get you to buy plenty of liquor as the shoe doesn't start until 9:00 o'clock. The show itself is pretty good, but the jokes and the banter they employ is rather old and tired. And though the audience gives a good applause, it's rather reserved with no shouts, whistling or raving. Crystal Room Cabaret only has two performer who alternate doing solo performances. They're good, great singers, gorgeous costumes, but I found there acts to be totally boring, lacking in any spontaneousness and sort of without effervescence.

I love this place!! The owner met us at the door and was so very personable. We had reservations for the Cabaret show. OMG, I cannot say enough positive things about Christopher Peterson's show! His impersonations were great and his comedic timing was spot on. This was the best show I have seen in quite some time. If you are in Key West, I would definitely add this to your "must do" list. read more

Went here on New Years Eve as it was the only place open. 125 a plate and a set menu. Food wasn't that impressive for the price tag, but wasn't terrible. Never saw our waitress again after getting drinks. Hair in the food, as well. I probably would try this place again during less busy hours due to all of the good reviews. I was disappointed as it was decorated beautifully and seemed to be busy, which is a good sign. Probably is just not a good place for very busy nights and holidays. read more

Came highly recommended and did not disappoint! Wonderful cocktails and delightful dinner. The service was spot on as well. The atmosphere definitely made the entire meal. Christmas lights and privacy for a very romantic feel. We brought the kids and they enjoyed soup and bread. No kids menu but they made us feel very welcome. This was our anniversary dinner and it did not disappoint. We will be back! read more

The second floor Cabaret is tailored for intimate theatre events. We were fortunate to be at a Christoper Peterson performance. For an hour and a half, and for only $26 plus two drink minimum, she channelled a pantheon of actresses and singers including Bette Davis, (who segued into a very creative and hilarious rendition of Rocky Horror's TimeWarp), Eartha Kitt, and Cher. Costumes came from a glamorous and obviously expensive, Vegas closet. read more

Stopped in for Sunday brunch. Nice setup with covered open air bar in front populated by locals. Good people watching as situated on Duval with high top tables overlooking the street. Food was good, Bloody Mary better. Cathy the waitress couldn't be nicer. read more

We saw Christopher Peterson's Eye-Cons show here. It was beyond excellent. We had such a great time. Sat front row center, so we were easy targets. He changes costume right on stage in front of the audience, and is such an excellent impersonator and entertainer. He does a meet and greet after the show. The venue is intimate and really nicely decorated. Top notch service. read more

Randy Roberts Live: Go. Go now. Go if you haven't been because that's crazy. She is lovely with so much talent and charm on stage. Not as racy as other drag shows (but still a few little innuendos) and a whole different level of costume and performance. All sung live - no lip syncing. I was pretty much blown away. Atmosphere: Classy little theater set-up - be warned, if you sit towards the front, you'll probably be part of the show. Gay, Lesbian, Heteros, families, couples - everyone was laughing and clapping along creating a perfect melting pot of backgrounds all enthralled by the same person. Downside: 2 drink minimum on top of $26 ticket. Not a big deal as we were drinking anyway. I guess you get what you pay for because this is easily the best drag show to see in Key West. I've been to 801 Bourbon and Aqua. Both are fun, but can get a little raunchy if you've got some more uh...sensitive types in your party. Bottom line: If you're looking to take mama out to her first drag show, check this one out. If you're a drag show aficionado, check this one out. From now on, I'll be a repeat visitor every trip to Key West read more

We had a fantastic dinner with great food and service. This facility is top notch from appointments to friendly staff. Our only disappointment was an experience at the Drag Show. Tickets were $32 per person and Randy Roberts' performance was spectacular. Unbeknownst to us was the requirement for a "2 drink minimum". After a very satisfying dinner and multiple drinks, we had no interest in purchasing drinks at the show and didn't expect the same given we paid to see this wonderful performance. Our recommendation for La Te Da is to carry on your class act and experience and make a change to the drink requirement at the show. read more

Wonderful experience! Randy Roberts show is about quality well planned entertainment! He provided several forms of entertainment: live interactive in good taste and video during costume changes. All staff: box office, technical crew, and wait staff feel like your experiencing an international equity level of quality production! Upon arrival, the venue is elegant with beautiful detailed trim molding and a beautiful bar with a few sought after and difficult to find wines and a variety of better alcohol. Randy provided a well rehearsed and thoughtfully planned performance with international professionalism few performers achieve with an intimate audience. My grandmother earned a PhD in Voice from Indiana Bloomington; therefore, when I compliment Randy Roberts' voice, I've heard some of the best vocalists globally. Randy Roberts keep up the wonderful work; your voice, intonation, breathing and obvious detailed rehearsing shows in your final product presented to audiences! Thank you for all your efforts including your amazing scripting which is funny, original and in good taste! The venue upstairs seats about 60-80 seats at tables; two drink minimum (non-alcohol also). Highly recommend! Also, restrooms are easily accessible near audience seating during the show; the Randy Robert's show is upstairs. read more

Best cabaret show in years. Christopher Peterson gets at 10. He makes Marlyn Monroe, Bette Midler, Liza Minnelli, Rita McEntire and Cher come alive. Mixed crowd and everyone welcomed. Met Christopher, the La Te Da owner, and he was very charming. We will definitely return next year. Thank you for a great night of entertainment. read more

Pretentious and Low Class. Bought tickets for the show and were misinformed about seating. When we tried to discuss it with the staff, they refused and were down right rude and condescending. We wound up leaving and disputing credit card charges. Cabaret? It's a drag show. Get over yourselves. read more

Had a blast at Sunday tea. A nice mix of young and old, gay and straight, locals and visitors. Everybody drinking and dancing. What fun! You must go! Had dinner there afterward and it was the best food in Key West!! Next time I will stay there. read more

We arrived here because someone recommended this place. After waiting for 15 minutes to someone come to see us and waiving waiters, finally a woman came to us and asking if we're ok. We asked to get water and menu, mentioned that we've been waiting awhile. She came back with a menu and said literally "I don't think it's a right place for you". We asked "Why?" She said "Because you seems high maintenance. It's a casual place". It's my birthday, and some stranger puts me down for no reason. I can't believe it read more

While the cabaret show was amazing and wonderful we did NOT appreciate being bullied into buying 2 drinks at their exorbitant prices during the show, honestly we probably would have bought drinks but being constantly reminded to buy the minimum was more than annoying. We had already bought drinks at the downstairs bar but that didn't count. Couple that with the seating bully and it left a bad impression of the location. Our friend walked to the bar for a drink and was informed no you have to only order from the server. I didn't want to get drunk so I called for a Diet Coke and the server said that would be $5 while the beer was$3.25. We will see the marvelous Christopher Peterson somewhere else thank you. read more

So we have been coming to La Te Da for about 20 yrs now. From the delightful years ago Sunday Brunches, to the weekday specials, to just silly nights just cause. My hubby and I are locals of 20 yrs (yes the year round kind). We have NEVER been treated like we were tonight!!! I am in shock. We ordered the Ribeye Special....(probably the most expensive item on the menu). We ordered it Medium Rare and our awesome bartender/server put the order in as requested. It came out 45 minutes later well over medium to well done. There was barely a hint of pink in it. We are not the type to send plates back but this was easily $80+ plate. We showed it to the bartender and she agreed (please understand she was awesome in all this). We agree to send it back. Next thing we know, Chris, the blonde manager with gold earrings, comes out and shames us and tells us it is medium rare. We try to be non-confrontational and say fine...just box it up as neither one of us want to eat it especially after what he did. Our neighbors at the bar now look at our plate and implore us to send it back and not pay as it is obviously wayyyy overcooked. Chris the manager comes back out and tells us we are wrong. This man needs to learn a bit about customer service to say the least. We paid our $130 tab and tipped the bartender $20 bc it certainly wasn't her fault. Our dogs are now the benefactor of a very overcooked Ribeye and I just got back from Winn Dixie and am now cooking my husband a proper steak at 10pm. ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS MANAGEMENT and this is seriously one of the only bad reviews I have ever written. read more

Recently,I spent a week's visit at La Te Da, and I can safely say that this was by far the most amazing hotel that I have ever stayed at in all of my travels around the world. The staff was so fabulously friendly, caring and dedicated to what they are doing for the people that are staying there. Live music each night inside the main building, that played out the windows that were open to their outdoor bar/restaurant that was so lovely, as it was located on one side to the street, and the other the edge of the pool. Most nights there is a live action drag cabaret happening upstairs with live singing Queens that put on a show like no other. The owners are very nice and lovely people, and very thankful to have met them. I am already looking forward to returning. This hotel offers everything one is going to need... not to mention the food is mouthwatering. The hotel is located on the less tourist side of Duval street which made it so much less overwhelming when there are cruise ships in town, but the hotel is located central enough that one is able to access everything that Key West has to offer. A short walk to the more touristy side of town and easy access to everything. I can safely state that this is the best hotel to stay at if you are going to be visiting Key West. read more

Overpriced. Host was nowhere to be found and had to wait. Arrived early for a 7 reservation, and even though the place was half empty, we had to wait. No locals discount. There were four tiny potatoes on my plate. 4 spears of asparagus, and overcooked chicken breast. $27. Just not impressive read more

Randy Roberts was incredible. Talented, funny with great crowd interaction. Reservations a must! Three star rating because downside is two drink minimum on top of 28.00 per admission. Made our one hour entertainment right at $100.00, after 20%gratuity automatically added(party of ten). Glad we saw Randy, but won't do it again. read more

Very rude. Turned us down with our service dog, while there was another dog sitting right inside. The owner walked passed us and said "You've got to me fu*king kidding me, that is not a service dog". I showed the hostess our registration for the dog and left. Will never give them my business after this. read more

This was our last stop for dining cuisine on a six day vacation of non stop fun that included the best restaurants. We had been here before. The first night to see Christopher's show upstairs and stumbled onto a trio called 3 Sum in the piano bar in our way our. Guess what? We loved that and came back again and again for four nights just for their act. We decided to try dinner there for our swan song and return to Boston. We made rezzy's for dinner and Randy Roberts show after and had the best dinner to start. My partner had the onion soup and a bolognese and I opted for an incredible salad and filet mignon. Randy's show upstairs after was perfect and surprise, surprise, the leS male singer of the trio was singing in the bar solo after. He was awesome. Check it out....We highly recommend! read more

La Te Da is the number one spot for anyone visiting Key West. It is the real taste of what the spirit of Key West from the owner and staff, to the cuisine, and the cabaret show. (Show is for all and will not disappoint). The restaurant's food is absolutely amazing. The people are genuinely friendly, welcoming, and know what classic customer service is about. The owner of this restaurant takes real pride in what is presented to his customers and the Key West traditions. La Te Da's cabaret show is world renowned and makes the night complete and unforgettable. This place embodies everything that is good in life. RANDY ROBERTS' show was unreal. He is a WORLD CLASS ENTERTAINER, talented, funny, and quick! After the show we came down stairs for dancing to the the singing of 3Sum. It's the same as having Diana Ross and Luther Van dross ten feet away. This will be a night you will never forget and one you will brag to your friends and family about. Trust me! A little more.... We ate here last year after our wedding and returned again this year to the same wonderful spirit that makes this place our favorite destination world wide. ...and we love to travel... take this review to heart, show up with a smile, and you will not be disappointed! Amazing food and drinks. A little pricey but well worth it. A must try is their crab cake salad with their champagne vinaigrette dressy....it's the Bomb! Their crispy orange duck was also delicious! The staff, were all friendly and attentive. Our waiter, Clifford was entertaining and gave great recommendations! We also attended the show featuring Randy Roberts. Never disappointed at La Te Da. Tonight the stuffed chicken which is light and flavorful. In past trips I've enjoyed the crab cakes, meatloaf and scampi. All good and worth the price. Wait staff is good but could be better, but not sure if it's a kitchen issue or what. I know they'll fix it. read more

The servers are also the entertainers, and perform solo every 15-20 mins or so. Some acts are cute, some are acrobatic, some are burlesque. Very cool. The drinks are delicious, 2 drinks are included per ticket. There's popcorn for free and small snacks for purchase (if you buy regular tickets. I think snacks are included if you buy VIP tickets). I was having a great experience here... until I came back one night later and an "entitled" female associated with the restaurant decided to rudely interrupt me as I was using the bathroom and told me to hurry up and fu**ing wipe. She continued to scream at me in the dining room saying "get the f out of the restaurant." The owner came over and told us to leave, not acknowledging the woman's behavior. Four of us ate dinner on first floor, delicious crab cakes, lots of crab ($46.00) , meatloaf perfectly seasoned, and steak. Loved the Caesar salad with garlic and fresh parmigiana . We went up stairs to see Christopher Peterson, femalee impersonator. Funny, personal , fabulous costume change , forgot he was a man . A fun energetic evening. Definitely will return when I return to key west. read more

i AM A LOCAL AND I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. I ordered the locals lunch special and the bartender asked me if I wanted shrimp in my Ceasar salad and I said sure, well when my bill came my 8.50 salad was now 15.50 and they gave me 3 lousy shrimp. When I said that wasn't very affordable she said "Well now you know!". read more

Worst espresso martini we ever had and the rudest "manager " . Three of us ordered them and didn't even drink them . Worst $68 ever spent on 3 drinks and the manager says you're in key west . I would never go there and don't recommend it to anyone. Martins two blocks away has amazing espresso martinis. read more

Saw Christopher Peterson's Eyecons show last week and I was hysterical! talented with a cutting wit, he had us roaring for the get go. Everyone on staff was attentive and pleasant and the venue was the perfect intimate setting. So happy we went and will do so again on the next visit!! read more
