We were invited here to a fixed menu supper with paired wines accompanying each course. €38 per person.
The staff were Mariella, with her brother and father (I think). We started around 1930 and the restaurant was already full. There were 20 people inside and that was capacity. There was also an outside/covered eating area with a TV going, but it was too cold for really anyone to hang out there that night.
The courses were meat & cheese paired with a Ripassa Valpolicella; polenta & sausage with Rubesco Rosso di Torgiano; hand made pasta with Campo Ai Sassi Rosso Montalcino; and salted steak w/ cheese & greens with Montelfalco Rosso.
Can't remember what that desert was. A little round lemon cake of some kind I think.
Each plate would come out for the whole restaurant and Mariella would explain what region it was from and a bit of the culture. She did the same thing for each wine with a bit of explanation why it was paired with the plate.
Flavors were good and they were just the right portion size so that we did feel like we ate too much.
Enjoyable evening, and we'll go again.
