A kind man (the dad of the place perhaps) took a tour with me through the trays explaining all the different savoury and sweet breads. I had trouble restraining myself! In the end, I chose a pineapple puff pastry, a molasses cookie, a chocolate Mexican bun, something called Kisses, another thing called Ears, as well as a buttery loaf fresh out of the oven, long enough to put any French loaf to shame. True to his word it tasted so buttery and fresh! My spouse and I were so impressed. Definitely will come here again. You can really sense the community, with regulars helping me to communicate with the mom as I could speak no Spanish.

My husband happened to find this place after our usual famous tamale place was closed on a Monday. I travel far for green tamales and on one Monday they happened to be closed. I called my husband to tell him I had no tamales for him. He quickly searched the area and found El Rincon. We ate these delicious tamales and I knew they were the real deal. When I drive through the north side of the city, I often see so many small taquerias and panaderias…read moreamong the many shops and stores. It's part of the character of our city and I'd love to stop at each one, but they're too numerous to even try to do that. But last week, I took my car in for repairs and right next to the Goodyear store was this gem that I decided to try while waiting for an Uber - which ended up being my brother who gave me a lift when I discovered that Uber prices at that time were three times higher than what I had previously paid. It was early in the afternoon and what attracted me was the tamale sign outside. Homemade tamales are a real treat to me, so I decided to try a small sampling and ended up with four different ones. Some chicken, some pork, one pretty hot ( I stayed away from ordering too many spicy ones as "hot" is widely interpreted, so I wanted to catch a glimpse of the definition of mild here first!). The tamales were good - glad I tried them. I also picked up some tamales for my brother's family along with a ham and cheese quesadilla for him - he's a bit of a lightweight when it comes to spicy food. But these items were among dozens of different offeringa the place had. Desserts aplenty and several varieties of tortas, all of which looked delicious. But my favorite part about the place was the staff. The young woman who helped me was pretty new to the place and had a cheerful and vibrant personality. Another woman who came out from the back and seemed to be an owner or manager also answered many of my questions and she was happy and helpful as well. Awesome, positive service experiences seem to be fewer and farther between these days, so when I come across one, I'm truly appreciative. This place opens at 4AM, so they're now on my "stop in" list when I'm on my way home from work in the morning.
