I grew up with Tex-Mex food from El Fenix in Dallas - especially their cheese enchiladas - so that has been the standard I have tended to use when comparing other Tex-Mex restaurants. This restaurant gets high marks from me! I ordered the Enchilada Dinner with cheese enchiladas, chili sauce, refried beans, and rice. Also, a margarita! The service was quick, the waitress was friendly, and the food was excellent.

We were excited to see Patron come to Jasper. Good Mexican food is sorely lacking in East Texas…read more Unfortunately, it still is. We first gave this place a try a few weeks ago, when they were newly open. My bride got beef fajitas, which appeared to be nothing more than unseasoned sirloin steak sliced thin. The meat was tough and flavorless. My carne guisada was edible; that's all I'll say about it. Since they were new (although they have other locations in East Texas), we decided to withhold judgment until we gave them another shot. Today, my bride got the mushroom chicken and I got the enchilada dinner with a taco and a cheese "puff." One thing both dishes had in common: bland, bland, bland. (I have to add: so is the salsa, and it's thin enough to drink through a straw.) and my cheese "puff" was just a small tortilla bowl full of queso. We go to Houston a LOT, so we know good Mexican food when we find it. Patron ain't it. They'll do well in Jasper because there's pitifully little competition. But they wouldn't last a weekend in a location with decent Mexican food nearby.

Now back to my order, I got the beef fajita with two eggs over, medium and hashbrowns. The beef had a strange taste to it. On my way out, the manager asked me how I enjoyed my meal. She saw that I hadn't eaten much of the beef fajitas. I explained to her that the beef had a strange taste, and she offered to remove it from my bill, which I declined. I enjoyed the Customer Service, which was excellent. I was promptly greeted upon entry into the building. So I give them an A+ for CUSTOMER SERVICE. Their salsa was excellent. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend the beef fajitas as I believe they were about to spoil when it was cooked leading to the foul taste I experienced. GN3

Something that stops me from coming are the prices....now I know nowadays things are expensive...but man, I personally think some of these prices are outrageous. I took my family of 3, and paid 55$, that's without the tip. I know its debatable, but I would come back a lot more often if it was cheaper! The place itself was very clean and well organized.
