I went to Old Ibiza town to see the sights and the ancient architecture. I stopped off at this place because the host was kind and said their paella was best. Now, I've been to Spain before. Last year I stayed in Barcelona and this year it was Ibiza. Every restaurant pushes the paella and sometimes, I feel, it loses it's flavor when everyone claims there's is the best when it's not. I kinda swore off on paella for a while but have this a shot. It was fairly pricey for 29euros per person for the lobster paella. I got it with a friend and they brought out one big pan with mussels, fish, mussels and 1 lobster split in half.
The rice was super tasty. We got 2 mussels each and within the rice there were pieces of fish, squid, and scallops. But! Buy! The lobster was So overcooked and rubbery and mushy. The texture wasn't that great which is why I couldn't give this place 5 stars. Lobster cooks very quickly but since it's cooked with the rice and all those other goodies, it probably cooks way longer than necessary, resulting in an overcooked lobster. Which is pretty much what we paid for.
I drank a cataluyan rose wine. It was light and refreshing. If I go back to Ibiza, I'd check this place out again but probably get the standard seafood paella not the lobster. read more
