So we got the "salad" but no tortilla shell as the server said they dont do tortilla shell for chicken fajita salad?!?!? We almost walked out because we waited for 10 minutes for flour tortilla. The food was okay I just got the chicken tortilla soup it had a lot of vegetables in it if you're into that. Very reasonable priced. I can't give much on the service because I didn't dine in but they did give me a fork to eat soup with which I thought was a bit strange. Minus one star because employees were smoking Mary J while taking out the trash. It was a little unprofessional as the restaurant was almost closed so that could've definitely waited. Most of the staff are younger. It's a regular restaurant nothing fancy but definitely not a hole in the wall type of ambiance. This is a nice Mexican restaurant. Service is good and the food is about what you would expect. I wouldn't say it's gourmet but did seem reasonably fresh and well prepared. We ate there on their lunch special, and the value was good. They have a lot of choices on the lunch menu and are able to customize things. They served a nice little desert that was automatically included in the meal. Overall, the dine-in wasn't too busy. The place was about half full and we were able to get right in. First time eating here as I am often trying new Mexican restaurants. This story if true was told to me today that the owner stole recipes from the LA Sierra Mecican and Grill in Dundee and opened this restaurant. We'll the food was overcooked, tortillas are dry, the tortilla chips are cheap, and the sauce was too runny. I eat good food and I can tell you that it is not worth the trip or the price. The restaurant in Dundee which I have been to twice is memorable to me because I had to go back . I did take remaining food home but giving it to the dog to not be wasteful. read more

On December 27, eight of us, including customers from Japan, descended on La Sierra after a long but successful day. Everyone enjoyed the food and our Japanese guests commented on the portion size - very big to them but there wasn't much food left at the end of the meal. Best service in town! Everyone is so nice and able to cater to your needs before you even ask! We had chips and salsa and waters and menus waiting for us before we sat down. Attentive staff, excellent hot food and service out of this world. Desserts came with our meal and they even switched out my beer for one I liked better. They have been open for a week, so clearly they have kinks to work out ..... that said... We ordered take-out tonight. Arrived as instructed and waited an additional 25 minutes for the order to be ready. No apologies, no real explanation. I got the distinct feeling they didn't start the order until I arrived. The green chile burritos were good. The shrimp cocktail was tasteless as was the salsa. The chile relleno was over cooked and under seasoned. I've eaten at the Dundee location (apparently not the same owners) for years and have generally been pleased. I was hoping this closer location would be as good. This was a great experience for the family staff was great and very constant asking if we were okay or if we needed anything else everyone is really nice meal was good for m very particular on my food in general and this was a pleasant experience ! Before this we went to LAGO CHAPALA and immediately got up and left due to poor service and poor higiene by far LA SIERRA SURPASS those expectations of mine ! The only thing I regret is the beer I order was Pacifico the largest mug and it tasted flat but I didn't wanted to say much since everyone was being super nice and they gave us desserts complements of the house !! Not a fan. I should have kept driving. It should have been a red flag when there was only one other couple in the restaurant at lunchtime. Yet, I tried it anyways. I am a believer that in trying a new place you always eat the same thing. I ordered a #6 - chicken taco and cheese enchilada. The chicken was dry and the taco shell is something you can buy at the grocery store. The enchilada was boring. I poured the salsa on it to give it some taste. Pretty sure the beans were a day old and the rice was tasteless and over cooked. I did give an extra star because the brought the entire table a dessert at the end that was a scoop of a great sorbet with a strawberry drizzle and a chip with cinnamon and sugar. Otherwise the food was subpar. Will I be back? No. There are plenty of other wonderful Mexican food restaurants locally. read more

For us, this was the best Mexican food in Yamhill county. We've lived here for 40 years; we've seen such food establishments come and go. We certainly hope this one remains. I read one complaint on Yelp that the margaritas were served in small mason jars. True. But, for most folks one of their La Sierra Margaritas is all you need. If you're driving, it may be more than you need. Taste was excellent. The food portions for lunch were adequate but hopefully a tad more for the dinner hour unless one orders more than one entree. Service was outstanding and food arrived quickly. There is no lard in the beans if that's important and the frijoles are outstanding. To top it all off, a free dessert was just a perfect ending to a perfect meal. We had Chili Relleno and Avocado tostado. read more

Additionally, when I asked for the meat choices for my dish I was told and picked one, and was not told it was extra. Some context, I live in So Cal so Mexican food is kind of my thing. This is barely average in comparison. The salsa was very watery and lacked any heat. The plates are large but lacked any bold flavors. The pollo asada had more onions than chicken which was very deceptive upon delivery. My wife and I both got the Chili Verde plates and the verde was again very watery. It lacked any real green cream look to it and therefore any real flavor. I didn't take photos as we were guests of friends and I didn't want to embarrass them. For Oregon it may be amazing, for the rest of us not so much. read more

Food that felt right out of the microwave (yuk), dried out rice(with NO FLAVOR), and so much more. They will NOT see us again that's for sure. We wanted to try them out, being that they were the closest Mexican in Newberg, but, we shall continue to drive to Sherwood and enjoy Mazatlan, or drive to Dundee and enjoy LA Sierra Restaurant there. It feels to me that this place is trying too hard to cater to unadventurous American palates who don't know what real Mexican food is. As others have noted, the service is top notch, if very slow. The food, however, is inexcusably bland. Lacking in salt, lime, cilantro, chili - all those things that make Mexican food so great. I got 2 different kinds of street tacos - came with tasteless guacamole, watery, tasteless salsa, unsalted beans, and even the tortillas around the tacos were tasteless and mushy. Highly disappointing, especially considering that everyone who works there is speaking in Spanish! I think they need to gather their courage and serve the true food of the homeland, and never turn back. I will say all the gringos in there seemed happy, except this one. read more

I went there for the first time last week. It is a Mexican sports bar, the selection of beer leaves much to be desired and the food is barely eatable. I ordered Chill Relleno, it was mostly covered with cheese, the chili still had the hard end on top. The salsa was watery, the refried beans had no flavor.
