I was about to do all my floral ordering from Sam's club until I FOUND THIS PLACE :) And I'm glad I did. Houston Flower Girls is the retail side of Westside Flower Exchange (who does wholesale only...sells flowers at wholesale prices to florists around town) So, basically with Houston Flower Girls, you'll get wholesale prices & be able to tailor your flowers to the types you want. The only catch is that you have to spend at least $250 & be able to pay cash ... Second, you'll have to do more research to know what types of flowers you want. They offer 3 Options: 1) Box-n-go--- Sam's/Costco style (order it & they'll give it to you in boxes) 2) DIY--- basically like #1 except they give you & your wedding party space + supplies + help to do your floral arrangements & cooler space to store them in 3) Combination-- a mixture of the above I worked with Mary Ann throughout the whole planning process. She was very sweet and patient & was able to answer all of my gazillion questions. Since I was planning from Dallas, we did alot of communication via phone/email & she was very quick to respond! She even sent me pictures when I was confused as to which flower was what. After you have a finalized list of flowers you want, HFG will send you a quote for the flowers you want. Since flower prices change weekly, they tend to overestimate your quote just in case the prices of the flowers you choose go up the week of your wedding (This is the most annoying part of the whole process because if you order 100 of a certain rose... and the price ranges within $1-$3... then the quote of $300 or $100 can change EVERYTHING about your flower order...so it's quite annoying....this is the only reason why this is not a five-star rating) --BUT Houston Flower GIrls does the best they can with what they're given & the price I was quoted was within 10% of what I paid. The week of the wedding, we picked up the flowers on Thursday morning for a Saturday afternoon wedding... they were in good condition, but definitely needed to be pruned & put in water. After being in water for just a few hours, all of the flowers perked up! By the time it was Saturday, they were all blooming & PERFECT! The quality of flowers you get is amazing!!! Not a single flower was rotted or damaged. And if you realize you didn't quite order enough, you can just pick up a few more from them directly. Tips: 1) try to do some research into flowers you like/don't like... bring pictures of flowers & colors you're looking for. Mary Ann is very knowledgeable about flowers & which ones last or don't last & which ones are costly/more budget friendly & will make good suggestions. their facebook page constantly has new pictures of flowers they have, so it's a good resource to start getting to know what flowers you like. 2) recruit lots of help for floral arrangements-- it will take longer than you think 3) buy good floral tools; they're pricey but worth it -- Houston Flower Girls sells rose dethorning tools, pruning shears, floral wire, gloves, floral tape, flower food, etc--- The tools I bought from them were better than the other ones I purchased from Walmart, etc. don't buy the cheap tools-- they will break & take up more of your time in going to get a second set of tools

I signed up for the Saturday morning bouquet class lead by Mary Ann. The class takes place in their floral warehouse. The class is very hands on and you take home what you make, which is really neat because you have something to show for what you learned. Mary Ann is a great teacher and was very patient as we tried to figure out how to handle the flowers and assemble them just so. She has lots of off the cuff tips and tricks that I don't think you can otherwise pick up by simply watching every youtube video available for bouquet making. Once you have taken a class with them, Mary Ann will assist you in ordering flowers so that you can create your own wedding flowers. They offer services from pick up and 100% DIY to creating arrangements in house with their assistance. I am just starting this process but will update the review once we have held the wedding. If their service continues to be as responsive and kind as it has been to date, I'm in for a real treat...not to mention saving 60%+ on what a florist would charge me to arrange and assemble these same arrangements.

It was better than we could have imagined! The flowers were delivered at the time requested and she even sent us pictures via text to make sure we were happy with everything.
