All were perfection. Two pasta courses were bolognese and truffle which melted in our mouths. Secondi of braised pork was heaven and outshined the pork sausage which was also very good. Finale was a light salad and what a meal! Our waitress offered us limoncello and que buono. We will be happy to return. We weren't very hungry because we had salami, cheese and bread while wine tasting in Montepulciano this afternoon. We split the first course--handmade pasta with a pork cheek ragu lightly seasoned with fennel and dusted with pecorino. I was happy to learn that the traditional pasta of Orvieto is made without egg-- just flour and water. It was very satisfying. For the second course, DH had the braised pork ribs in a ginger sauce. The meat fell off the bones into the luscious sauce. The flavors were strong, yet balanced. I would definitely order it. I had the Chianina beef, thinly sliced and drizzled with olive oil, lemon and pepper. A very flavorful but light beef dish that is served cold. For dessert, DH had the deconstructed tiramisu. He said it was wonderful. We finished with limoncello, a lemon liquor. A nice little cafe that is worth a visit.

We had the ravioli in pesto and gnocchi with a delicious red wine sauce, and some chicken skewers on a bed of greens. Everything was delicious. The prices were also very reasonable. The house red was a delicious Montefalco that was so easy to drink we got a second carafe. The staff were very nice, but the lost star is because the waitress could not remember which table had ordered which dish. Not which people at the table (that avoidable mistake happens all the time) but which party to deliver orders to.

They were very short when we asked questions about the menu and seemed like they just wanted us out of the restaurant. One of them cleared our table with a knife in her hand, and the blade came inches away from my face as she quickly reached for my plate. The one pasta with the small egg yoke in the middle is a pasta carbonara, and it was amazing. As you stir the pasta the egg cooks, giving a unique freshness. Of course the red tomato pasta is a traditional pasta, but the flavor was outstanding. Appetizers were a savory cannoli that just burst with flavor. The most unique item was a cheese stuffed squash blossom. Everything that passed our lips was unique and bursting with flavors. Servings are not American huge, instead they are Italian tasteful. Plenty to eat and still feel good. The restaurant also has an excellent wine cellar with local selections. We had a bottle of local white that was perfect for the meal and not too expensive at all. You can really taste the truffles in the pork tenderloin, but may be a touch too salty. The portions are quite large so sharing may be an option. Dolce: Delicious Profiterols. Another couple came in and sat at the table next to ours about 20 minutes aft6er we did and ordered, were served, ate and left before we got our main courses. It took nearly an hour to be asked what we wanted to eat. Granted, they were busy, but the answers are simple == either take some of the tables out or hire a waiter who has the slightest concept of what the task entails. Avoid this place. There is another restaurant about a mile down the road with efficient wait staff, an enormous list of very local wines, good food, and prices far less than the Torre Sangiovanni. I believe of the 50 or so diners, we were the only non-locals. That should tell you somellthing.
