I love supporting my salvadorean local businesses. I called to place a large order of pupusas and wanted extra curtido and tomato salsa for a good amount of pupusas I had ordered. When I got there I was greeted by the owner he was so happy and very talkative my order was ready and while there I ordered drinks kola champagne this is the staple soda of El Salvador . My only complaint when looking through my order was how very little curtido and salsa I received and I Paid extra but he told me I had plenty for the pupusas I ordered I said ok. But I was correct it was too little . Typically they put the sauce and curtido in a little plastic bag but not even half filled. The pupusas were on the smaller side that I'm used to but they were good. One thing that always throws me off is seeing clutter and things I touched were dirty meaning greasy and sticky. This place could really use a deep cleaning and de clutter. Overall the pupusas are average and on the small side curtido was ok was lacking salt and oregano. Still on the search for my go to spot. read more

This is one of our favorite joints lately. It's review #800 worthy. I've been stopping by this place for lunch to order pupusas and i've been back. Boy have i been back many times! I've been back several weekends in a row. This place is a bit rough around the edges; but it doesn't matter. I usually just take this togo. The pupusas here seem pretty authentic. It's a family run joint. There are usually two ladies back there always folding in pupusa dough and throwing them onto the flat tops. This place gets quite a bit of local traffic. I do recommend just calling in and taking it to go. Our favorite pupusas here are the all three: cheese, pork and beans. All of that for 1.59. Why would anyone go get fast food when you can have these amazing pupusas! My wife and I usually eat 6 of them. I'm a slob and i can eat about 4 of them. All six of them and it comes to about 13 bucks. The pupusas come with a slaw and you eat them with salsa as most pupusas do. P.s. parking on the street is ok as long as you don't park in front of the body shop. You might have to park around the corner on the street in front of the houses. read more

The place is very easy to miss, it's a small locally run Salvadoran restaurant with great papusas! When entering the restaurant it's a little space, if you want to dine in walk in and find a table and if you want take out I would call ahead. My friend and I ordered our food and was told a 15-20 minute wait, we waited for upwards to an hour. The papusas are great but the wait wasn't. read more

This place is so good I was inspired to write my first Yelp review. The ambiance leaves a lot to be desired, but the food does not. My party tried a variety of items and for the most part were not disappointed with any. We had the bean/cheese pupusa, the chicken and the cheese. All 3 were great! I had the picadillo gordita. Hubby had the seafood caldo. We enjoyed everything. The red and green salsas were spicy with great flavor. We also both liked the coleslaw. Small but good food! read more

I went to La Salvadorena today for the first time in search of a FABULOUS pupusa experience. YES!!! They were MUY, MUY, MUY Bueno!!! I've been to other restaurants specifically to try the pupusa and HANDS DOWN, La Salvadorena blows them all away. Don't go if you're looking for a charming atmosphere. Someone else described the atmosphere as "authentic"...That works. It's NOT your "run of the mill" restaurant, for sure. ONLY go if you're looking some some REALLY good food at a very reasonable price. I only had the pupusas so I can't speak to anything else, but they were well worth the 45 minute drive. I will add La Salvadorena to my list of "Texas Treasures". Job well done. I'm SO glad I found you. read more

Do not go here. The manager later charged more to my credit card than I had signed for. The first annoyance was that I ordered water with my meal and was given a bottle of water that ended up costing $2.50. Then after purposefully writing a $0 tip because the manager was also the waitress, my credit card summary later showed an extra $2 then what I signed on the final receipt. read more
