Stopped by J&D to show them (Paul) a damaged side view mirror, thinking that they'd order the part and I'd have to come back later in the week. No, instead Paul left his shop, drove to the parts store, came back and had his guys do the work. THis was at 4:30pm. I was out of there before 5:30. I was thrilled to have what I thought would be a several-day undertaking be completed in under an hour. I will be returning to this shop.

He typed out all the things he found with the car and the price was very reasonable. When we discussed the issues, his phone rang a few times, and I acknowledged he had a call coming in, but he focused on our conversation and made sure I got the answers I needed. He was courteous, fair, very reasonably priced and if I was more local I would definitely choose him as a mechanic. I am so grateful I found him today!

When they were done, I payed about $478 for a new intake manifold, about $937 for all new brake pads and rotors, and $136 for new brake fluid. Overall, I was very impressed with the service I received! Not only were the employees personable, but I was also given an honest assessment of what my car needed. I brought my car in because I was hearing unusual noises while driving. After checking it, I was told it only needed an oil change. Before I left, the owner went into the shop, came back, and added some type of oil to my car and asked me to return another day for the oil change, which I did a few days later. I barely drive my car, so immediately after the oil change I drove the few minutes home and parked it. Two days later, I needed to pick up my niece from school. As soon as I started driving, the car began shaking, jerking, and driving abnormally. I called the shop to explain what was happening, and instead of offering to inspect the vehicle or asking me to bring it back, I was told to take it to the dealership because they "don't do transmission oil." When I asked if I could bring the car back in for diagnosis, that request was avoided. From there, I ended up spending a significant amount of money trying to figure out what was wrong and repair the vehicle. The dealership later indicated that the oil level was beyond the recommended limit, which can cause mechanical strain and performance issues, and that improper servicing could contribute to serious engine-related problems. I returned to Manik Auto multiple times to try to explain the situation and seek answers, but each time I felt dismissed and not taken seriously. Instead of listening or offering any willingness to inspect the vehicle, the conversations became defensive. At one point, I was made to feel like I was wasting my time, and the interaction left me feeling intimidated rather than helped. What disturbed me most was how quickly my concerns were dismissed after I raised them. From my perspective, the immediate defensiveness and refusal to even inspect the vehicle made it feel like there was no willingness to take accountability or investigate what went wrong. That experience deeply affected my trust in the shop. To this day, I believe the service performed on my vehicle played a role in the transmission issues that followed. That is my honest opinion based on the timing of events and everything that occurred before and after the service. Before this experience, I had trusted Manik Auto with my vehicle and had recommended. I never expected to be treated this way when I returned with concerns about work that had been performed on my car. The financial loss and stress this situation caused have been significant. Mixed feelings because I forgot to take our change (which was sorted in a clear plastic case) out of the car before leaving it with them and now we are around $10 shorter in toll money.
