I went to get taco dinner. lady at the front text was on her Snapchat and told me to wait (needed more time to respond on messages on there haha). They don't have taco dinner so I ordered some tacos and rice. In all honesty, tacos are overpriced and not good. They do not use fresh tortilla and steak tacos weren't good. Health departments wet dream. Filthy and had the smell of despair. They should change the name from la Rosa to hold yer nosa. I was sick for 3 days after eating here. Boogers and food on the walls floors so sticky pulled my shoes off. One step up from eating out of a dumpster. Not to mention nothing but thugs inside. I'd eat off the ground before going back. From the outside, you might be a little apprehensive to go in and try the tacos. But as a guy who has traveled the globe eating at all kinds of taco stands, carts, trucks, and restaurants, this is a hidden gem. The Al Pastor is terrific but the Carne Asada and their Lomo is tops. Excellent chicken tacos too. I also love when the chips are freshly made to order and are perfectly prepared and not oily at all. The salsa verde is great but a little too hot for most. Service was top notch. Been their twice and plan on many more trips. read more

Stop No. 2 on my Elgin Taqueria Tour took me to La Rosa. When I went, there were a number of families and workers grabbing lunch, so I had high hopes for good grub. Unfortunately, it wasn't that great. I got my typical order of two al pastor tacos. On the plus side, the tacos were really big and packed with meat...two were more than enough for me. And don't get me wrong, the tacos were definitely tasty. However the flavor of the marinade was pretty bland (but they had an excellent green hot sauce that compensated). Also, the onions were cooked which took away some of their bite that I love so much. But the real problem was the tacos were too greasy (not good greasy, just greasy greasy). I may go back and give La Rosa a second chance, because I felt a lot of potential there. But with so many other choices in the area, if it's not great the next time I don't think I'll give them a third. read more

I've been going here since approximately 2007, the prime of my partying nights! And believe me, I know how it feels to be hungry, alcohol maxed and all you want is a damn good taco. It took a tip from the guys at White Pearl on McLean, my local pho place, to find this small, family run place, located in a former snack shop across from a trailer park. The slabs of meat roasting on the grill tell the whole story. It's the closest thing to Zacatacos or El Asadero I can find in Elgin. Cash only! read more

Food is great. I always drove pass this place to go to El Paraiso. I wondered why there were more people at this place. So I decide to try there food last week and the food is good. I love the food, hands down best tacos in elgin. Way better than Pariaso and comales. The only downsides is that it's cash only. They do have an atm, but why spend the money on the atm charge when that can go to the waitresses. Other complaint is the restaurant is cold in the winter. They need to turn up the heat and get one of those little rooms you put in front of the door to help with keeping it warm. read more
