Skinny burrito express more like it. Tried tacos from here half a year ago and they were decent. Today, I wanted to try their burrito and see how it stacks up against other noteworthy Mexican staples in this area (los burritos / el rodeo / panchos) Seems to be more expensive than their competitors while being the saddest burrito ever. Great food! Torta was very good. I got the steak and my boyfriend got the chicken torta, the meat was very flavorful and the bread was super toasty but soft enough to eat. Cooked very quickly I'd say it took less than 5 minutes for both meals and the customers service was excellent. The fries were super good and not too salty. The interior was clean and very organized. Had lunch with wife on a Saturday. Place empty. Greeted immediately. Both of us purchased the taco dinner with chips and salsa. Ambiance was fine, service was great. Food, meh. Steak tacos, I hate those fatty parts you can't chew that are in this type of meat. It's like all taco places use the same meat except for the expensive Latino restaurants. I've been all through Pilsen and west Chicago. The good steak meat is gone. Salsa and chips, Ill pass. Tomato based salsa and chips that were the golden crispy type. Not what I prefer. Mannys Burrito Express in Schaumburg is all right with me. It's a small restaurant with a few tables on the inside. Order at the counter, wait a few minutes, pick up your meal when called. I love tex-mex and sadly this is not quite that. Still, the portion sizes are generous relative to the price. Their huge burrito meal hit the spot and I still had rice and beans left. I had a hearty beef burrito and there was enough cheese and sour cream to provide some rich and savory flavors. The side of rice was nice as well as the refried beans. These sides maintained there place as sides and nothing more. I returned a couple of weeks later and had the chicken fajita dinner. Having fajitas in a wet sauce was something new to me. They looked more flavorful than they actually taste, but I still enjoyed them. The last thing I tried was the King Burrito. Not a fan of french fries in my burrito and now I know. Fortunately, I can count on Mannys to provide a solid Mexican meal when I am hungry. read more

First time customer. I was driving by and since I remembered seen rave reviews, I decided to pickup something for dinner. I was the only customer at the restaurant. A young lady stopped reading her book to take my order. She seemed bothered by my interruption. She did not say a word other than the total and whether I wanted to pay cash or credit card. The restaurant itself was pretty clean. No loud music. The TV was on. When I got home (Five minutes away), the food was barely warm. For some strange reason, there were four French fries in my beans. The meat (Carne asada) did not appeared to have been grilled while I was there. It took them five minutes on my order, good (Fast service) or bad (Precooked) depending how you want to look at it. So I don't know how long they had it. The worse part, under my meat, I discovered what appeared to be chilaquiles. Funny, I had not ordered chilaquiles! But then I realized that it was probably the enchilada that was supposed to come with the dinner. Were they left over chilaquiles, or did the enchilada get cut up into stripes (Maybe another 'specialty of the house' like four fries on beans)? I just do not know. I ended up with a feeling I received left overs from their lunch hour. I lived in Mexico for twenty years and I eat Mexican food a lot, both at home and at restaurants, so I am not a novice. Anyway, that was the story of my first and last visit to Manny's Burrito Express. I hope you have a better experience than I did. Note: Forgot to mention that it is a pretty pricey place. Absolutely phenomenal experience! It was our first time here and the employees helped us pick out what to eat. Super polite and helpful! We got the Kind Burritos and they were incredible. Instead it was chewy pieces of pork fat with no meat. My husband got the steak and said he also had fatty pieces of meat. I came here today for lunch. For some reason I expected this place to be cold inside, but it was warm and cozy inside! I ordered two carne asada tacos Mexican style (onions and cilantro). They were $2.50 each which to be is a bit pricey for tacos, but I know that with COVID some places had to raise prices. The guy asked if I wanted salsa, and I said mild salsa. I got my tacos quickly and they were fresh. The tacos came with the salsa as I asked, along with 2 lime slices and napkins. The tacos were really hot but really good! I decided to wait to eat the second taco because of how hot the first one was. I always come to Mannys when I am craving their shrimp tacos! I'm not gonna lie they probably the highlight of this place. Just perfect! The place in itself is a small restaurant with about 10 tables. The person taking my order is a lady (mostly) she is very kind and patient with my indecisive nature! The tacos are cheaply priced at about ~ $2 per taco. The chicken tacos in my opinion lack a little bit of flavour. All the ingredients that go with it are very Fresh (including the chicken itself). The shrimp tacos are fantastic (as I rightly mentioned at the start of my review lol). I have also had the tilapia tacos and they are also equally great. The burrito is like any other burrito - nothing special about it. You could get one made better at chipotle. All in all, the place is great and I am their frequent customer. Every family needs a go-to Mexican joint. My family found ours in Manny's. We've been coming here since it's opened and you know exactly what you're getting- attentive staff, fast service, and tasty food at a reasonable price. If you've read other reviews you already know their fish and shrimp tacos set them apart from other restaurants in the area. Would give them the 5 stars but on this particular night something seemed just a little off with my wife's beef torta, as if a little too much oil was used as it soaked in to the sandwich. However, my 11 year old son who barely eats devoured his steak torta and I thoroughly enjoyed my burrito and taco. Ambiance: Small and quaint, humble with about 8 booths inside to choose from. Located within a stripmall.. kind of a hole in the wall look, but decorated with Mexican decor to give a feel of cozy, that's ALMOST there. Service: Young man at the counter was extremely friendly and helpful. He offered knowledge to the menu and explained whatever questions he answered well. Pleasant and personable, but very professional Food: I ordered the taco dinner with rice and refried beans.. i had the steak, mango fish and shrimp taco... with chips and salsa. Chips were unsalted, so i had to hook them up when i got home.. they weren't very good at first, but once i added salt htey were good. My favorite taco was the shrimp taco. Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo good. Hit the spot! Steak taco was decent with cilantro and onion... and i enjoyed the mango fish taco (deep fried tilapia with mango).
