Bellinis Brighouse Review
Staff told me to Fuck Off - Family Friendly? - Far From It....
"Waiter told me to just FUCK OFF" In front of my two year old son!!
My family and I have been visiting this restaurant for years. My grandparents visit at least once a month. On this occasion we where visiting to celebrate a double birthday with a party of 12. This included 9 Adults, an 8 year old, 2 year old and a 6 month old.
We arrived at 18:30 to a swarm of other diners attending for seemingly the same reservation time. We where seated relatively quickly and up until the point of our orders being taken the waiting staff where attentive enough.
The food arrived without too much delay and was mediocre at best, its all described as fresh etc, however I doubt much of it is and we generally prepare and eat better quality food at home.
Bellinis touts its self as a family / child friendly establishment, however we have not had an experience that reflects this.
There are no baby changing facilities what so ever, the serving staff suggested we change our 6 month old daughter in between the two sinks in the ladies bathroom, not the most hygienic, safe or convenient of places.
Towards the end of our evening (circa 20:15) as we where just finishing up the deserts and coffee's it came to light that the people seated on the table behind us where rather disgruntled that we had a tired and slightly "narky" 6 month old child causing a small fuss. After 10 minutes of the death stare from this other table we remarked to them that it was a family restaurant and we would be leaving soon, but they could always move to a table further away in the meantime. Then all hell broke loose! We where presented with a foul mouthed rebuke all in front of our children. One of the haggard and bitter 50 somethings from the other table (who I overheard outside talking about her cocain addicted daughter and son in law) also felt it appropriate to request to fight the mother of the 8 year old in our group and that she would be waiting in the car park for her..
We raised this issue with the waiting staff who came over to calm the situation, which, did not go overly well. However, the table causing the fuss where not asked to leave nor asked to keep their opinions to them selves.
When I raised this issue yet again with the staff as we where leaving, his rebuttal was simply "Well YOU are leaving now anyway" - To which my reply was of course "and we won't be coming back"... He then thought it appropriate to say "JUST FUCK OFF THEN" as we left (in front of my 2 year old son).
If you don't mind mediocre food and poor, slow service, being sworn at and being made to feel like a second class citizen if you have children with you - Then this is most certainly the place for you.
If, however, you would prefer a nice atmosphere, good food and a truly family friendly environment then one might suggest Prego just across the road.
AVOID like the plague. read more
