The food arrived a tad late at 20.46 (11 minutes late) and was pretty warm (not hot, but heated to an acceptable level). The food itself was OK. The base on the pizza had a 'pancake' sort of taste/texture to it which I'm not a fan of (prefer the traditional stonebaked style myself). The chips could do with a bit of seasoning as they were quite plain, but the garlic bread was good. Overall, it was pretty average. Nothing to write home about, but you could do a lot worse.

Prices are average, relatively cheap based on the size of your order. Nothing much to say, but the staff are nice and welcoming, there is one seat while waiting for your order, but the maximum waiting time I've ever experienced was 3 minutes. The standing room is very small while you wait for your order to make room for a large counter. You have to stand in the doorway sometimes. The opening times are convenient and the food is tasty and the chips were quite dull as not enough salt/seasoning was added.

Pizza Express - GF Dough Balls

This is a good Pizza Express location, located in Junction 27 Retail Park in Birstall, just off the…read moreM62 and a short drive away from Leeds city centre. The restaurant is large, with a good amount of seating, including a fair number of booths, there is also some seating outdoors. Parking is easy, being a retail park location, you can park right outside the restaurant. I like the open kitchen which is circular, meaning you get a view from wherever you are sitting, the interior is pretty typical of Pizza Express, which I like. The staff were very friendly and happy to help, they addressed an issue with checking in via the app quickly (The previous table had not been cleared) The menu is the same as any other Pizza Express, I opted for a gluten-free Pollo Forza pizza, with gluten-free dough balls. Food arrived in good time and was cooked well, I did have to ask for extra garlic butter to go with the dough balls but this was brought over without a fuss. The chicken on the pizza was especially tasty with the smoked chilli chicken and the hot peppers, it was spicy but not too spicy to take away the rest of the bold flavours, which was good. The other members of my party shared a Romana base La Reine pizza and were very complimentary regarding the base being light, thin and crispy. They also enjoyed their apple juice, while I had bottled water - the Acqua Panna still water is very good! PRO TIP: If you're dining in, be sure to download and use the Pizza Express app, the rewards available are great and depending on your tier status you can get a bunch of free stuff including dough balls, a soft drink, large bottled water and a Romana pizza upgrade. I managed to save over £20 on my most recent trip. The prices are a tad expensive for a chain Italian without these offers, but with their loyalty scheme, it becomes very good value for money. A good Pizza Express location that I would certainly return to, and the perfect place to kickstart my reviews for the new year! 4*

Before I mention the Restaurant just a brief word about Redbrick Mill itself. Redbrick consists of…read morefour floors of furniture, accessories, art, cookware and gifts as well as four cafes. It is a truly fantastic place to while away a wet Sunday afternoon or if you have to find a gift for someone special - there is no 'tat' here and all items are from renowned names! Out of the four places to eat, Casbah is my favourite one. Ideal for a quick snack (my kids love the nachos) or a lunch platter for people with a huge appetite or even a cup of tea accompanied by one of a large selection of cakes. Yesterday I had a seafood platter which consisted of king prawns, feta cheese, patchwork mackerel pate, salmon, black and green olives, some healthy looking green leaves (which I didn't eat but was told that they were very nice) and two large chunks of rustic bread. More than enough for two people to share. Patchwork pate is truly amazing and if any of you have ever eaten any of their pates then you'll know what I mean - it is nothing like supermarket pate and I refuse to buy any pate from a supermarket nowadays! Anyway, being a bit of a science geek, I'm not very good at descriptive writing so I'll include a link below where you'll see some pictures of the restaurant, and I'll end by saying that I am a regular visitor to Casbah and have never had a poor experience. Well deserving of its five stars. http://www.redbrickmill.co.uk/home/cafes/cafe_casbah
