This is an excellent restaurant in town! We came here at the suggestion of a coworker and we were not disappointed! I had the gambas y pescado dish prepared in the style of al mojo de ajo. I asked ahead of time what type of fish they use and they told me it was pollock. I was pleasantly surprised at the generous portion of seafood on my plate upon arrival and also it was delicious! Fernando Ruiz was my waiter, very professional & quick to answer my questions about the menu. I asked & received valuable advice on appetizers, alcoholic drinks, and my meal. He was able to communicate his thoughts to myself and my strictly english speaking partner. The ambience was inviting and clean, and so I felt comfortable while eating. This place is very over priced when you consider the quality of there food. I order a tampiqueña plate and was very disappointed. Very bland and they gave me two fried tacos without cheese when it was supposed to be two quesadillas. They said that's what they call quesadillas. After pretty much eating Mexican food every meal while traveling in Laredo, my associates and I were looking for a change and wanted some seafood. Welp, thanks to yelpers out there we stumbled on this place. This place is decent. The menu is a little eclectic... Mexican, Italian, American? So i get a little weary when there are too many selections on the menu. So since our group was going for seafood, that's what most of us had and the food was just ok. Not bad, not spectacular, and not too memorable, but just ok. The ceviche didn't have enough acid in it. It was made from fake crab and frozen shrimp. After i mixed some hot sauce and squeezed half a lime into it... it tasted better. The tostada ceviche was also very dry and needed the lime and hot sauce as well. We are pretty close to Mexico and we were hoping for some authentic Mexican-style ceviche and were sorely disappointed :( Hopefully it was just because we were there on an off night? Someone had the mahi and they liked it, along with the teriyaki chicken. I also had the coconut shrimp appetizer which was good, but also seemed like it was defrosted . Customer service was really good but the food was a big let down. The rice was unseasoned, the shrimp and fish filets were unseasoned, even the fried fish and shrimp portions were unseasoned. I went there with my family a couple days ago and ordered the Rockefeller fish. It came with cold slaw, baked potato and a piece of garlic bread. The portion was big and the dish was 10.99$. The cold slaw tasted like it was filled with sugar, could not take more than 2 bites of it. The baked potato was okay and the fish was just decent. There was no real flavor that was memorable and I do not plan on going back. Total we ordered three dishes and the total was around 40$, so it was kind of pricey. I love to come here when I want seafood. They serve a variety of dishes (seafood,italian, sushi, and steaks). My favorite plate is the fish and shrimp a la roca feller. The creamy spinach sauce poured over the fish and shrimp gives it an amazing taste. All the flavors are harmonious! Try it out and taste for yourselves! read more

It is a nice place to eat. They really modernized it. I went with my boyfriend and actually had two entrees for $20. Service was good. They are very polite and a man, I think it was the manager, was always on the servers to attend to the customers. Good service and good food. Good place to go and eat. I return there all the time. Whenever I come to Laredo, I always make a special trip to eat here. I read an earlier review and it was dead on. The atmosphere is modern and clean, the service is usually dead on - high marks for Laredo, where ordering your meal can be, how can I say, challenging at some places. First off this place is unnecessarily cold in here. The atmosphere is really bland and unoriginal, quite gloomy. It looks like as if this place has been lost in time, and I don't mean that in a good way. The music is sounds like rejected cover artist from the eighties who never made it out of their hometown. Again the music just adds to the extremely gloomy atmosphere. The staff is quite ditzy with really crappy attentive skills. Did I mention this place is like the polar ice caps?? Food here was awful. Two week old freezer burn is hard to mask, don't matter how much sauce you dump on the plate. Please don't insult Italian food by calling this place Italian. Had about ¼ of my meal and was sick for the next few days. Definitely would advise avoiding this place. read more

It was my girlfriends mothers birthday this past Sunday so we chose to have seafood which I had the fried shrimp entre, the playe was very good and there were no complications with our order our waitress was very attentive to us and there were no problems though she did not take the dirty plates off our table. I came at 6, to happy hour. My draft beer was icy and heavenly. I ordered shrimp tostadas: perfection! The tostadas were hot just out of the fryer and the ceviche SUPER fresh and plentiful, I ate the 2 tostadas and some crackers with the overflow from the ceviche. Of course I twitched the flavors with salt, lime and other salsas (I always do) and I was in heaven. I also ordered the "quesadilla from the sea" and it was great. I couldn't possibly eat more, so that was a wrap. My server Adrian was prompt and corteous. I got exactly what I wanted: Seafoood with Mexican flair. Very nice restaurant. Good atmosphere but it does get packed during lunch so you might want to get there early. It's a seafood and Mexican food restaurant. I had the butter lemon filet which comes with a side of rice, 1/4 of a (kind of burnt) baked potato and cole slaw. The actual filet was really good (much better than the one I had at El Pescador). There are plenty of other dishes available during lunch including Mexican dishes. The service was good an was actually surprised as to how fast our orders were served. Place is decent.. Waitress quickly tried to fix the dish.. Shrimp.augratin with shells and feet left o the shrimp..( I guess the cook was in a hurry and hoped no one would say anything..) With my husband and I being new to Laredo, we try different restaurants every weekend...LaRoca has become our favorite BY FAR!! I had this restaurant like: "a must place you need to go" when you visit Laredo, in the past most of the trips we did there was because this restaurant. However, I can claim the title for "Customer disappointed" now. As I said before I was there every single time with my whole family and even the food is really good this time something weird happened. I will add that every time I order the same... ALWAYS... Rockefeller Oysters, a shrimp cocktail, chicken strips and the famous lemonade. But I usually paid 20 to 25 USD tops. Well, this time, they charged me $43.83 USD because they changed in the menu that Oysters are sold at market price, and I agreed if someone should tell me about it. They didn't say anything and when the bill arrived, and I tried to talk with the waitress and the manager there, they were laughing and getting fun because I didn't look at the menu... Come on guys, I was starving and a warning about could change my experience, and that it's frustrated because in all places customer is first and they could give a 5% off and maybe I won't be as upset as I'm now, but their attitude was rude, I think that they were even racist, did that happen because I'm Mexican or what?
