The family googled a local Mexican restaurant and came up with Mazatlan Mexican Grill. We went there on a Saturday afternoon and were greeted warmly by the staff. My aunt is one of the best cooks in our family and SHE was raving about their complimentary refried beans appetizer that they serve with chips. But the pièce de résistance was the food itself. My chicken was seasoned perfectly as well as the wife and aunt. This is a place that we will definitely be visiting again. RUN, DO NOT WALK to Mazatlan Mexican Grill and you can thank me later.

Over the years, I've vacationed in Mexico and worked for Big Sugar in Belle Glade, so I'm no stranger to authentic Mexican cuisine. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted with a warm smile and a friendly "¡Hola!"--spoken w passion. Luckily, I know enough conversational Spanish to keep up, and I was seated near the front of the restaurant. The colorful menu practically told me what to order: Sopa de Camarones, Birria Tacos, and a fresh Jugo de Melón (watermelon juice). The waitress was incredibly welcoming and soon returned with a basket of warm tortilla chips and three kinds of salsa. That's when I knew--I had found the real deal. One salsa was mild, the second had a medium kick, and the third--an orange one--was pure fire . I laughed to myself and thought, "Yup, this is going to be good." And it was. All three salsas were absolutely delicious. Then came the food: a steaming bowl of shrimp soup and a plate of mouthwatering birria tacos. The smell alone made my stomach growl. The shrimp broth was rich and flavorful--absolutely hypnotic. I'd order it again without hesitation. As for the tacos? I smothered them in the green salsa and devoured them so fast, it was like I was drinking them. I was that hungry--and they were that good. This was the first truly authentic Mexican meal I've had since leaving South Florida. I'll definitely be coming back.
