We booked a reservation for this restaurant 4 weeks in advance of our scheduled visit to Bellagio based on the ratings on Trip Advisor, which are now actually bringing to light the true rating they should receive. (Bad food and service.) When we arrived for our dinner, which was to be special since it would be one of the last evenings of our trip, we were shown our "reserved" table. The view from this table was dismal as it looked directly at a boat rental business and not beautiful Lake Como. The tables with that view were reserved for parties of 4, not for us we we told. We left and went to another restaurant. I will say this. Lake Como is beautiful! Don't stay or visit Bellagio, it is a tourist trap. We stayed across the lake in Candenabbia which was quiet and peaceful. Overall the food found in this area is sub-par. If you want good food go to Tuscany, Venice or Amalfi. read more

The staff is outstanding and the view can't be beat. If you get the chance to sit with Christiano, we recommend that you do. I know the lake fish is their specialty and I am going to tread lightly here so as not to grossly offend the entirety of the Como region... Having had the great fortune to have visited Alaska and fished while there and to have called the Puget Sound my home for the past 10 years, I know where fish and shellfish are concerned, less is more. If you MUST poach in oil, marinade or fry your fish, then it probably should be a feeder fish for a more delicious fish. This is the case for the missoltini lake fish here at Como. For comparison sake I would equate it to an anchovy or sardine. Case in point, I like both of those fishes 10x more and more importantly know how to utilize them in a proper way. After all, can you imagine a stellar caesar dressing without anchovies?!? If I grew up here, I might have developed a taste for these little salty, oily, fish. If only a reminder of growing up or a taste of home. But I didn't so I never developed a love of these little beasts. I truly believe their sole purpose (no punny here) should be to sustain the larger lovelies that grace these deep waters. So, we asked for the best representation of lake fish and were given the appetizer selection. Nearly every offering on the plate wasn't to our liking, save for the tiniest piece of smoked salmon. I tried the Campari Spritz and also found that I did not care for that either. So, two items checked off my list as Not For Me but I am a firm believer that sometimes knowing what you don't like is almost as important as knowing what you do. 1 point off for very weak internet that caused problems with the credit card processing. 1 point off for charging me for the wretched Campari drink even though it was based on server suggestion and replacement alchohol was ordered. read more

As other reviews have explained, you're paying for the view. The view is truly beautiful but no need to have a meal here in order to see this great view. Just go for a walk around the restaurant on the break wall and take the stairs down to the water. The food is sub-par (except the spaghetti which was very good) and the service is pretty terrible- no one ever checked to see if we liked our food, no fresh pepper (even though other tables got it), we had to ask for more wine and everyone was rude. Each waiter seemed annoyed with our presence and acted like we were bothering them. The cheese plate was pathetic and I could have made better, more flavorful fish at home. The atmosphere and views here are incredible! Our neighboring Airbnb visitors recommended this place to us for dinner and we saved it for our last night there as something special! Is this my first one star review? I would say La Punta is in my top 3 worst ever experiences. We came here with a tour group, were seated quickly, had our order taken by Server A, and food was promptly brought out by Server B. We ordered fish both grilled and sautéed, and spinach. They were both so bland and unappetizing, I only ate about 1/4 of my meal (and when I'm hungry, I'll honestly eat just about anything). No one comes by to check on us. A man in a floral shirt checked on multiple tables around us, we were ignored. Server B comes by after some time when we ask for the bill and a manager. They send over another server who is laughing. Look, I get that things are different regionally, but at least grab the head waiter. Server A comes over and says "Who didn't ask how your meal was? That little guy (pointing to Server B)? He's going to be fired in 17 days." What does that even mean? Who says that? Who tells a guest that? Server B comes by and offered a sincere apology, and unfortunately I think he was forced to take the blame for a situation that was not entirely his fault. Although they removed my fish from the bill, we left feeling like they just didn't get it. Maybe they don't care because they know the tour company who took us there will be dropping off another bus full of unsuspecting guests tomorrow anyway. read more

At the close of a beautiful 4 days and 3 nights in Bellagio, staying at the wonderful Hotel Belvedere and exploring the picturesque towns, abbeys, and gardens -- we inquired around for the perfect restaurant and dinner to cap our Como experience... And landed at the worst restaurant experience we have had in Europe: La Punta of Bellagio, Como Italy. In short: - the restaurant could not find our reservation which I made personally by phone days in advance - from the moment we arrived it was clear the restaurant was rushing our party of 5 through dinner to maximize our bill and minimize our time enjoying the meal - we ordered three courses (antipasti, primi, secondi) - they all arrived at once (!) with apologies from our server that the kitchen was "in a hurry" - the food came so fast there was no room for the plates on the table - the food was not just disappointing, it was inedible. Even simple dishes (prosciutto e melone) were clearly plated hours before dinner and had been sitting -- drying out and getting soggy at the same time - we asked for a wine list and our waiter came back to the table with an open bottle of a "local favorite" white - I asked again for the list. She set the bottle and 5 glasses down and walked away. We didn't drink the wine and had to request it be removed from our bill. - once all courses arrived (at once), we never saw our waiter again - she was reassigned to another overwhelmed area of the restaurant In short, the service and food were a disaster. What a sad waste of a beautiful location and potential. With so many great places in and around Bellagio (Barchetta, Alle Darsene) - don't bother with this place. Tries to take advantage of tourists...but didn't get us! Visited La Punta on 7/14/2019. Pasta dishes were just okay, however, my husband did enjoy his fish. As for service- awful. Wait staff presents as they are doing you a favor. A table of 8 foreigners behind us were complaining that one of their meals had never come and we overheard the waiter say "ladies you're on holiday- relax." I found it odd to see them pay with a 500 note (I later understood why). Fast forward to our table- after a subpar meal, poor service having to ask several times for the check we were told "their credit card machine was down." We went through the motions- came over with the machine- points to "offline" and says "see." Told him, sorry we only have credit cards. Told us- "we'd have to wait to see if it comes back on- and it may be awhile." Told him we had time... This is apparently a scam they play with tourists (attempting to avoid credit card service charges). Waited 10 minutes (they were playing the slow down game) and had to asked 2 more times if they would try again... once again, it read off line.... Said "their phone lines were down," asked to speak to the manager- and both the waiter and manager are now going to school me as to how to travel- "to always have cash and you can't eat for free!" How rude. Not our problem, theirs- told them we could pay by credit card or apple pay... minutes later- the machine miraculously worked. By the way, we had cash and euros the whole time- just chose not to use it, as I refuse to be taken advantage of. If a restaurant posts cash only, it is my choice to eat there. In this case I would have happily obliged had they not been deceitful and scamming about it. Of course, on our way I out- the same routine with the "sorry- the credit card machine is down"... was playing out at another table. Go elsewhere! read more

The food is good! More expensive than other restaurants in Bellagio and the food isn't any better. It is more secluded than the other restaurants but you have to have a good table as theres a boat rental place that a lot of tables are looking at that isn't pretty. Definitely better views at the water front properties on lake Bellagio. They say you need reservations but the whole time we were there only a few other couples arrived, most tables were empty. read more

My wife and I were married in Lake Como on June 29th. Our Wedding planner (Sally from WeddingBox Lake Como) set us up with a 32-person rehearsal dinner at La Punta for the night before the wedding. La Punta is a 10 minute walk from the boat dock in Bellagio (turn left and follow the main street). When you arrive from the street, you actually walk up the back of the restaurant - there are a couple of signs, but rest assured that you will eventually see the restaurant below the street and towards the water. You will then have to walk down a cute little windy cobblestone stairway or you can follow street down and around the side. There is a beautiful grassy area with shade trees and benches that the guests could relax at before dinner. The kids liked it because they could run around (we arrived a little early). When we arrived, we were taken to a private table in the back that overlooked the lake. The grounds were immaculately maintained and everywhere you looked was like a picture out of a movie. When we arrived, we ordered the wine for the table; the food menu had been pre-selected. The waiter, Niko was very entertaining and spoke perfect English. He helped us with the wine, which was very good and wound up costing around 25 euro per bottle. We also got a very large bottle of well-priced Chianti Classico for 160 euro; Niko presented us with this very large bottle in its own wooden case before the primi and it was a huge hit with our guests - we drank the whole bottle then brought the bottle and case back to the states with us. At the end of the night, we were able to take home the unfinished bottles of wine and water, which came in handy later on at the hotel. We chose caprese salad for our antipasti, meat lasagne for our primi piatti and the de-boned "Lavarello" fish in butter and sage for our secondi (Lavarello is an excellent local, flaky white fish). The children were served two courses of similar food, but prepared in more kid-friendly ways. We finished with espresso and opted to leave out the dessert so we could casually walk back to the boat dock and get gelato. Note that the last boat to Lenno from Bellagio was at 7:40pm. By sitting down to eat at 5:30pm, although a little early for our liking, we had plenty of time to get gelato and arrive back at the boat dock on time. The food and the view were incredible. All in all, the meal was VERY affordable, which was one of our requirements, and the experience was priceless. read more

Ristorante La Punta was the perfect ending punctuation to our rather relaxing and wonderful northern Italian trip. We had one night in Bellagio before flying out of Milan, and we wanted to try a place off the beaten path. It was July, the breeze was blowing gently from the lake and the walk from the center of town was romantic and quaint, on a quiet road that winds around the lake. Once you arrive at the restaurant you can request to be seated on the patio, and we were lucky enough to be seated directly in the center with Lake Como spread out before us. The wait staff was charming and attentive. We did have 3 different waiters throughout service, which was a bit disarming but overall it worked out well -- but only because each of them injected a bit of their own personality to their portion. The atmosphere was extremely relaxing. There is nothing more perfect than sipping a nice white wine, eating Lavarello (local white fish) and gazing out at Lake Como with the sun setting. The food complimented the environment perfectly. It was well timed, artfully prepared and delicately flavored. After dinner we took a walk on the pier which is situated 50 yards from the restaurant, and watched the quiet dusk settle into night. We couldn't have asked for a better way to end our last night in Italy. read more

My husband, who never leaves food on the table, only ate half of his chicken because it was so dry. Pasta dishes are fine, but no better than what you can get anywhere else for half the price.
