This is a restaurant with rooms in Yeovil. It's about 20 mins walk from the town centre but about 5…read moremins in a cab and on a quite street close to a main road with a morrisons. We stayed the night here and also had dinner. A nice touch was the owner ringing us the night before to check if we wished to dine because they were nearly fully booked. The rooms were really large and very well decorated, almost to malmaison standards but with a warmer feel. The food was very nice. Traditional but with a European twist - very nice lamb and steaks were had, along with a bottle of champagne to celebrate a friend's birthday. The owner came and told us all about the specials and the staff were attentive and friendly. Our favourite moment was when coffees arrived and we were presented with a 'coffee garnish' which was a small mousse type thing! I am dying to have an excuse to go back to Yeovil so I can take someone to stay here. Very much recommended.

You'd have thought being just up the hill from one of the biggest employers in the area with over 3000 employees it would be heaving. The last time I eat here was at a leaving do - I know I was a little bit late and you had my pre-order, but was there any reason why you had to cook it and then leave it on the hot-counter for me until I arrived? Nothing worse than dried, over-cooked salmon and prawn risotto. My theory is the chef is used to doing large banquets (judging by all the pictures of himself all over the restaurant) and thinks he's Ramsey. Hot tip - people who are number one rarely need to shout about it, especially in the restaurant trade. I fear the chef may have lost any degree of humility which would allow him to improve. Trying to be positive, the Ciabattas and salads are fine, but then you've got to be pretty special to mess that sort of food up.

I had already booked for 13:00, but then wanted to change to the evening, but fully booked, so kept to the original booking. Sat near the window, which was open and a view over the sea. There was an error on the bill but this was quickly rectified. we had: Drinks: Aperol Spritz - £5.95 3 bottles of coke - £8.25 A pint of Kronenbourg - £4.25 A bottle of Viognier - £19.95 A large (250ml) glass of Malbec - £8.95 Food: 1 x Two fixed price lunch courses - £10.95 Tartes Flambées - Traditionnelle (My son hadn't realised that they used goats' cheese, and not to his liking) Ice Cream (Selection) 3 x Three fixed 3 x Dock Meatballs (only two meatballs, but delicious) Poulet au citron Steak Frites (supplement £1.00) Rump Steak (supplement £3.95) Crème Brulee Coupe blanche au chocolat Lemon Tart Friendly staff, and great food.

Two courses for £11, three courses for £13, and you have a wide variety of options. We started by sharing some marinated olives and luscious chorizo bites soaked in honey. The whole roasted garlic bulb was delicious too, though really overpriced given the size and how much garlic costs. For my appetizer, I got the warm salad of roasted beetroot with goat cheese and candied walnuts. It was small, but delicious. The ingredients were warm and fragrant, and the flavors went wonderfully together. My salmon entree was lovely too - simple and fresh, with french beans and a light butter sauce. All the lunches come with potatoes and vegetables. I didn't think much of the fries - not warm enough or crispy enough - but the roasted potatoes were very nice. Because someone in our party had their food come out late, we were given lots of extra sides and her meal was taken off the bill, a great way to handle it. Several of us got dessert - the creme brûlée was a simple, classic version of the dish, and very tasty. Such a great deal for all that food! I was a bit dissatisfied with the service, although our server was friendly, helpful, and warm, it was incredibly slow. We were there for hours! It took so long for each course to come out. We had our empty appetizer plates in front of us for 15 minutes before they were removed, and it took even longer before the entrees came out. Still, because the food and atmosphere was so nice (great views out the big front windows), I can't fault them too much! Wouldn't keep me from returning at all, just don't go if you're in a hurry!
