This is a restaurant with rooms in Yeovil. It's about 20 mins walk from the town centre but about 5…read moremins in a cab and on a quite street close to a main road with a morrisons. We stayed the night here and also had dinner. A nice touch was the owner ringing us the night before to check if we wished to dine because they were nearly fully booked. The rooms were really large and very well decorated, almost to malmaison standards but with a warmer feel. The food was very nice. Traditional but with a European twist - very nice lamb and steaks were had, along with a bottle of champagne to celebrate a friend's birthday. The owner came and told us all about the specials and the staff were attentive and friendly. Our favourite moment was when coffees arrived and we were presented with a 'coffee garnish' which was a small mousse type thing! I am dying to have an excuse to go back to Yeovil so I can take someone to stay here. Very much recommended.

I've been here a few times now. This place continually fails to impress, despite potential to do…read morebrilliantly. You'd have thought being just up the hill from one of the biggest employers in the area with over 3000 employees it would be heaving. The last time I eat here was at a leaving do - I know I was a little bit late and you had my pre-order, but was there any reason why you had to cook it and then leave it on the hot-counter for me until I arrived? Nothing worse than dried, over-cooked salmon and prawn risotto. My theory is the chef is used to doing large banquets (judging by all the pictures of himself all over the restaurant) and thinks he's Ramsey. Hot tip - people who are number one rarely need to shout about it, especially in the restaurant trade. I fear the chef may have lost any degree of humility which would allow him to improve. Trying to be positive, the Ciabattas and salads are fine, but then you've got to be pretty special to mess that sort of food up.

I went here with the family on a Saturday night. I called ahead and booked a table…read more Upon entering the table we were greeted immediately, by two smiling waitresses. One with menus and the other with the reservation list. Seated straight away, drinks ordered and delivered all within minutes. Boom. No faffing around which was spot on. We placed our orders and it wasn't long until our starters came out. The halloumi and sausage went down well, as did the calamari. I have to say that the potato kofte although tasty enough was rather dry and only like warm. Not that happy with it to be honest. The mains all then came out and were good to be fair. The mixed grills were appetising and done rather well, chicken shush was yummy and the tiger prawns were piled up high and tasty. The waitress we had was a poppet, and really rather amusing. So was all over it, and we didn't have to once try and grab attention or wait for drinks. Not that she was overbearing either, didn't notice she was there really but every thing was just spot on service wise. The decor from the first step (toilets are upstairs part from the disabled one), is really shoddy, grimy and not good. The grease on the steps you can feel underfoot, the pint has scuffs and handprints all over, chipped and dirty. They have two single toilets which both male and females can use. To that end, the toilet seat was always up and there were pee stains on the seat, so I ended up hovering over! There has been precious units in the bathroom that have drilled holes and different coloured paint. Such a shame as the first step up just lets the place down. However, in summary, in the main, good food, excellent service, ignore the decor and pee and I'll be most definitely returning. A welcome addition to the Barbican/Plymouth offerings.
