Amazing food but consistantly forgetting our order and very slow and asking us what our order was. Wish it was better...

A sandwich and soup combo runs for about 14-15$ and the sandwiches are delicious, healthy and fresh. They have about 10 different sandwiches to choose from plus you can build your own. Fantastic healthy lunch option for people working close by, it is albeit a little pricier than other lunch options in the area.

Before I came here, all of my coworkers were HYPING this place. Curious I went on a Friday! And then promptly walked back to the car because it was THAT busy. I decided to try this place again the next week after on a Monday at lunch, and it was much, much better. So tip: don't come here on a Friday lunch. It's a pretty small area with a few tables to dine in. Usually these are taken by fancy work people so go in with the expectation that you might have to bring your food back to the office and make those coworkers j e a l o u s. Upon entering, there's two areas to wait; one for salads and the other to sandwiches. I ordered the chicken avocado wrap and my boyfriend ordered the seared tuna sandwich (something fancy like that). They come with a salad and/or soup too so you can be EXTRA fancy and pompous when ordering your nice, healthy lunch. For the both of us with drinks, it came up to around $35 (goodbye money) and we got our food pretty quickly. I do have to say that the food is AMAZING! I don't know how they do it but there's legit magic in the food they make. The chicken avocado was great but I would recommended that tender seared tuna if you are feeling boujee enough. So yeah, 10/10 would recommend if you're feeling boujee health nutty, but be wary of coming there on a Friday and the week before you get paid!

Tips: - The porchetta sandwich is divine!…read more- Biggies is beside Pizza Pizza and a few doors down from Kung Fu Tea. A recent Yelp elite experience put Biggies Gourmet Foods on my radar. For years, I have visited this plaza that has Biggies, but never noticed it until now. Biggies used to be called Porchetta Roll. I dropped by after work on a Wednesday. It was roughly 2:30 pm. This eatery is roughly a ten-minute drive from my workplace. It's in a plaza that I visit regularly. It has Cora, Kung Fu Tea, and Lezzet Shawarma that I like. It's easier to look for Pizza Pizza. Next to the orange sign is Biggies. I found an available parking spot fairly close to Biggies. I backed into the spot and walked over to the eatery. A female customer was ahead of me. She picked up an order and left. The nice man behind the counter cheerfully said hi. I reciprocated. He asked me what I'd like. I had looked at the list of sandwiches and mini meals before dropping by. I had the porchetta sandwich on my mind. After all, if it was a part of the original name, it must be good, right? He went ahead and made my sandwich. I saw him lightly toast what looked like a kaiser bun. The place smelled good. The porchetta is roasted for a good twelve hours. It has garlic aioli, mustard, sautéed onions, and arugula. He saw me looking at the Biggies cap. I loved it so much with the cute bear logo. I let him know that I'd be back for it and the meatball sandwich. The photo alone of this sandwich made me salivate hard. He handed me my sandwich in a paper bag. I thanked him and wished him a great day. He hoped that I'd like the sandwich. I left and headed to my car. I was still stuffed from lunch. I ended up running a bunch of errands before heading home. I had this sandwich as a snack watching the Winnipeg Jets game. This sandwich was massive! The man had wrapped the sandwich such that it was upside down with the arugula at the bottom of the top bun. It was interesting. I loved how tender the porchetta was. It was so flavourful and yummy. The garlic aioli and mustard were the perfect pairing of condiments for this sandwich. I loved the sautéed onions that brought out the natural pork flavour while providing some sweetness. I normally don't like using arugula in salads or anything because it tends to overpower everything with its peppery, bitter, nutty taste. I feel like the baby arugula chosen for this sandwich wasn't as in-your-face in boldness as it can be. It was a light peppery flavour that worked well with the other ingredients. This sandwich was so good. I am still thinking about how awesome it was. The porchetta sandwich goes for $12. It is packed with a lot of love. I'd definitely return and get another one. It's worth it, as the sandwich is massive. I had a great experience at Biggies. I'll be back for more good eats. (110)

I ordered a small 6oz grilled chicken plate (42g protein), with potatoes, caesar salad, and biggie's sauce. First off, the portions are MASSIVE. I was so full and had so much leftover potatoes after my meal, even though everything was delicious and I was straight inhaling it all. The chicken was brined, seasoned, and grilled to perfection-- I also don't typically go for chicken as my first choice of protein but this breast was JUICYYY. And with the biggie's sauce? Total flavor bomb. Caesar salad was just as expected, it added freshness and tang paired with the chicken and potatoes. The place is small, but clean and has a decent amount of seating available. The guy at the front was super friendly and gave great recommendations on what to pair my chicken with. I also really liked the music they put on, whoever was on aux has a great taste! The location and exterior of biggie's is unsuspecting for the quality of food they serve so it definitely classifies as a hidden/local gem. If you're a gym rat or in need of a balanced, filling meal that won't leave you feeling bloated or disgusting, I highly recommend their plates. However I will definitely be back to try their porchetta and fried stuff. 10/10 spot.

I have fond memories of eating veal sandwiches. My dad use to get these long veal sandwiches from a…read morefood truck that would stop by his workplace years ago. He brought one home and I devoured it. The bun was soft, the veal was breaded and tender, the marinara sauce was fresh, and it had onions, peppers, and mushrooms that made it the best sandwich. He bought them for me late in my high school and all through my undergraduate years. I moved away. He retired. Veal sandwiches died. Coming back to the GTA, the best veal sandwich I have had is from California Sandwiches. This location is the closest one to my workplace. On Saturday, I had to go into the office and stopped by this location to grab a bite before getting down to work. This location is on Dixie, just north of the 401. You expect tired, hungry truckers around this area on a Saturday. Then, you have folks like me. I wanted a veal sandwich and was hungry. Parking in front of the eatery is limited. I got a spot out of the possible five available. There is also a back entrance where there is more parking. I walked in. There was a woman ahead of me ordering three sandwiches. I already knew what I wanted. This California Sandwiches looks dated from the outside, but is pretty decent inside. I finally got to place my order for a veal sandwich with mushrooms. Technology-wise, the woman took my order down on small pieces of paper. The only modern thing seemed to be the debit machine. Judging by the sign where it said it accepted cash, scribbled in pen underneath was debit. I was armed with both and paid with cash. Everyone there seemed to be Italian. I liked the homey vibe. She asked if I wanted anything else. I got a bottled diet Dr. Pepper. I found out later on that there was San Pellegrino. Oh, well. I'll get that next time. This California Sandwiches is a bit different. You can buy bottles of marinara sauce to take home. Fish and chips are on the menu. If you can fit poutine in your tummy with your sandwich, it's available. Finally, if you feel like pasta, you can get some here. I loved all the choices. It took a bit of time to get my order. There were three orders ahead of mine. Finally, my sandwich was ready. The woman who prepared asked whether I was dining in. I was. No tray. Just the sandwich wrapped in paper was handed to me. I loved all of it! The woman called me sweetie when she handed me my sandwich. It was endearing. I happily sat down and looked forward to chowing down. Why do I love California Sandwiches? The veal is larger than the bun. I opened my sandwich up and felt so happy looking at such beauty. It came with lots of napkins. You need all of them! I took my first bite. I was in heaven. The veal was tender. The breading was perfect. It was light and yummy. I loved the marinara sauce with little chunks of onion. Finally, all those sliced mushrooms got my seal of approval. The yummy bun held everything together. Some have complained that it's expensive to get a sandwich here. With taxes, my sandwich with mushrooms and a bottled drink came up to $14.50. Considering that my sandwich was huge, packed with goodness, and I didn't eat anything until dinner, it's all worth it to me. It does get messy eating this sandwich. After I was done, I washed my hands in the women's washroom. It has two stalls. It was clean. It's dated, but everything works. I'd come back here again for another yummy veal sandwich. It's good reliving good memories while creating new ones. (169)

Finally! Jimmy Johns is in Ontario, and it's in my neighborhood, too sweet!…read more My first exposure to Jimmy Johns was when i got sent to Minneapolis St Paul (USA) and Jimmy Johns was across the street from my hotel. Came here on a super rainy day and was instantly annoyed with the layout of the restaurant in comparison to the parking lot, I feel like them retrofitting into this space, really didn't do them any favors, when I trekked through grass and mud to get to the door, I realized I parked on the wrong side of the building, even worse as you only have a walk way for one side? We finally got into the restaurant, and out of the rain and instantly the smell brought me back to both visits at MSP. a lot has changed in my diet where 80% of the menu I can't enjoy anymore. they also offer a toasted subs now, and I got one of the few items that wasn't available for this option, of course! Service was great, order was placed and we were in and out in ten minutes or so. The bread is absolutely killer, took me back to seven years ago, in MSP crazy good flavor and freshness for a throw back The parking lot is a huge negative for this spot, and warrants me not making this a five/five situation. being across from the mall, plus Home Depot/Wal-Mart and a bunch of smaller stores and restaurants in the mix, to get in and out of this section is nuts, and much like this super rainy night, not a lot of dedicated parking for Jimmy Johns Definitely an experience everyone should try, wish it was in the mall instead will be back!

Of course we know Firehouse subs is one of the elites but I always feel like doo doo after eating a Firehouse sub. None of that at a Jimmy Johns though! I felt great! Lol I ordered a 6 inch (Regular) Italian Night Club and added Jimmy peppers, which are essentially banana peppers but better. Such a great sub and all the flavours pop and work. The meat tastes like quality and they're not stingy (cough *subway* cough). I added some mustard on some of the bites and that made everything pop even more. Bread was nice and soft but not soggy. A great sub, all around. The service was extremely friendly and knowledgeable as well. Sorry Firehouse, I'm a Jimmy John's girl now!
