This is Mangu, (mashed plantains), fried eggs, queso frito, (similar to fried cheese curds), pickled red onions and fried Dominican salami. This dish was under par! The Mangu tasted mostly like margarine, (oily) not buttery. They served it with 1 fried egg which normally is served with 2 to 3 eggs. The salami consisted of 2 pieces so thin that they fit in between the slots of the fork prongs. The fried cheese was descent but the portion like wise was small. It was 1 piece of cheese cut in half. Similarly, the portion of the pickled onions was small. Around 3 to 5 small rings of onion.

When we got in, the children settled and ready to eat, the food was still super hot and the seafood was PERFECTLY cooked. Shrimp were tender and not over cooked, the clams were expertly cleaned, not a grain of sand and again perfectly cooked. My son, he got the meatball. We don't order out meatballs because all meatballs pail in comparison to my mother's recipe which I make for them. But let me tell you, these meatballs were amazing. Actual flavor, not just breadcrumbs and meat. Extremely well executed entrees. You could not ask for anything better. Although I have been to this place before back in March of 2020 and was pleasantly surprised, our…read moreexperience on Father's Day was absolutely horrible. I made a reservation at my husbands request. The reservation was for 6 -1/2 people (my granddaughter who is 11 months) at 5pm. I asked for a table upstairs and when I arrived they tried to sit us in the bar area. I informed the woman who was at the front I had asked for a table upstairs and her exact words to me were "ok bye" and she handed me off to a young gentleman (Harrison). That was the 1st mistake she made. He brought us upstairs and the room was very warm. We assumed it was because they hadn't turned the AC on but when we looked it was on 62. We opted to stay up there because by that time they had given away the table that they were trying to offer us. I am not exaggerating when I say we were left upstairs for over 40 minutes before he came back to ask if we wanted drinks or appetizers. Not his fault because it appeared this woman was too busy yapping it up with some older man who was at the bar and the younger woman was just there. Harrison was doing the doordash orders, and everything else. I asked if someone was going to come up soon and this woman with reddish hair with attitude said "umm, yeah". 2nd mistake she made. I went back upstairs and our waiter came back up about 10 minutes later. He took our orders and was left to manage us alone. Overall I think he did the best he could, but there is absolutely NO REASON AT ALL it should have taken 2-1/2 hours for us to order/eat. We didn't order anything complicated, but it seems like everyone downstairs was being tended to while we were just left upstairs in the heat. Having to have my son go downstairs and ask for the check and food containers, is also ridiculous -3rd mistake!! Again, Harrison was great and we do not blame him at all, but this young gentleman should have been given help from the beginning instead of having him do every damn thing. Extremely disappointed and am pretty sure the owners of this place have no idea what their manager does and they seriously need to re-think who they have greeting and TRAIN them properly. She is lucky I didn't lose it on her with the way she responded to me when I asked if someone was going to come up soon. She is absolutely, HORRIBLE. The service was EXTREMELY slow, even though there were BARELY any people there when we walked in. We are locals and we will never go back.

She asked if it was better and walked away as she was asking that. I ordered shrimp fra diavolo. The sauce was watery. She brought it back to the kitchen to actually have sauce put on my dish. Again, as she asked if it was ok, she started walking away. I told her it was adequate. A good waitress would have asked if I'd rather have something else. The Caesar salad that came with my entree had stale croutons. Go to Stefano's in Fishkill or Il Cenacola for far superior Italian food.

This will be a long review because we ended up coming here three times during our stay! Upon arriving, the decor was pretty good! Had great PR theme! Based on the menu, it was a Jamaican and PR fusion! We also noticed trophies in front of the window of best empanadas and also 2nd place for best empanadas! We were greeted by the owner who was funny and welcoming! As part of the first visit, we ordered a few empanadas; chick pea, vegan chicken, vegan bbq beef, vegan chorizo, and guava with cream cheese! They were all amazing! So good that my girlfriend and I decided to come back for dinner the same day for dinner! When we came back, the owner was happy to see us again! We ordered the Latin grill chicken asada with rice and beans, and vegan meatballs with rice and beans! Both plates were full of flavor! The chicken had a very nice spice to eat! The next day, I came alone while my girlfriend was attending a course and ordered the breakfast special which was three eggs with sausage and cheese on a roll! The owner hooked up the sandwich by adding an extra sausage to the sandwich! This meal came with a free coffee and only cost $4.50! A sandwich like this back in NYC would've cost me easily $20! This deal was great! I ended up ordering empanadas to take home for my girlfriend since she loved them! Our experience does not compare to any of the experiences we had before! The owner is a great man with a good heart! He shared his stories growing up in the Bronx and living in Newburgh for the last 25 years! He explained how his business was booming before then went through difficulties due to disloyal staff and bad cooking! He has been working everyday for the last 6 months building his business back to where it was before all the issues! For a man to work everyday and still have the patience and dedication to his brand shows what a lot of places have been missing! If you are in the Newburgh area or visiting the area, I highly recommend coming to this place! Show some love to an owner dedicated to his passion and commitment!
