We are sitting outside on a beautiful sunny Sunday evening. There's an ancient knarly old tree that goes up through the balcony. There are beautiful ferns and foliage everywhere. The place is busy without being packed so there was room to sit down. We were greeted immediately but waited longer than usual to get our drink order and food order in. They bring you chips and things to put on them, my friend says the green salsa is spicy. I took her word for it and did not try it. Our food took a long time to come out. I got bacon wrapped shrimp stuffed with cheese which was delicious. My friend got the whole fish fried and said it was fried a little too hard. My Margaritas are delicious! read more

Excellent service, food was delicious and very well priced. Location is also good, a lot to watch and people walking by. We went back twice so that says a lot. The first time I got rib eye and asked medium rare, I think he thought I said rare, it was a little blue, I still ate it and it was still good. The waiter was very good to us and helped us with the menu since we couldn't understand.I was surprised they played hip hop music. It was a nice indoor/outdoor seating. We flew back from Cuba and I was DYING for fish. And yes, there is fish in Cuba but it's more expensive due to tourist demand. We decided to check out this place and it was pretty good. Huge menu and excellent service. I had the stuffed filet which was good. It was a little on the fishy side but overall decent. My bf had a filet with garlic which was also good. We were spoiled by fresh caught fish during our trip so now our standards are way too high! Prices were decent, 150ish a plate so about $8 USD. We also had shots and they were about 70 pesos each. There were TONS of mosquitos so we had to move inside after a while. They have bug spray if you ask for it :). Also their chipotle sauce is amazing!! read more

OK food. Nothing to brag about. Hubs and I stopped in before catching the ferry. It was early lunch time on a Sunday so maybe that had something to do with the fact it was empty and food was subpar. Food was a bit bland. Octopus I ordered was a bit tough and flavorless. Staff are super attentive and friendly. This place has biodegradable straws that at first look and feel like someone drank very sugary ice tea and it dried up inside the straw. LOL but yeah. Good for something quick. read more

Service was great! Our waiter was wonderful even with our language barrier. We ordered the shrimp burger and the BBQ burger, both amazing. They had phenomenal guacamole with shrimp! Their mango sauce is also great. We got a 3L beer tower which came out to about 8 and a half beers for 10$ American- great price! We sat on the porch, it was fun but also relaxing. Authentic place right in front of Plaza de Toros in Downtown. We've red a lot of different opinions about this place and decided to visit it. And we were right. Came to check out La Playita, and was fairly disappointed . I read the reviews on this place and it seemed worth checking out. Food was not that good. Mediocre, nothing out of the ordinary to rave about. The Tacos Del Mar down the street from us and just around the block was way better. We were sad we didn't enjoy our food as much. Scenery was nice , outside seating was nice, staff was nice. The food was just not it sis. read more

Had a terrible experience at this restaurant. We had a server named Bianca who also claimed to be the manager and owner. There was a language barrier and we asked her what a dish contained. She named just shrimp and octopus. When the entree arrived it had no shrimp but a lot of other stuff like mussels and clams, which I don't eat. I told her to take it back and ordered something else. The final bill still had the food I sent back and she wouldn't take it off the bill and instead started arguing with us. Her attitude was just mean, unfriendly and even racist as she made comments about our ethnicity when one of us said we are vegetarian. I'm never going back here. The food wasn't even that good, way better options for seafood in Cancun. They even overcharged for my kids meals which is just not right. read more

Terrible, terrible place. The service was super bad. This woman called "Bianca" served us. She was super rude. The food was sub par. We went there because we read the good reviews so we were terribly disappointed. I am not one to leave bad reviews for no reason, but this place was really bad. "Bianca", who also claimed to be the owner of the restaurant when we asked to speak to a manager, charged us for a dish that we had sent back. If the owner is reading this please train your staff to be better behaved with customers. Also your employees are claiming to own your restaurant! Maybe it's a US thing that we expect better service? I am not quite sure why this restaurant has good reviews with bad seafood (only the chicken was passable) and the extremely poor service. I would never go back there and will definitely recommend that this place be skipped. Tons of better places to eat at in Cancun!
