This is a cute, small, intimate little place with some tables, a set of comfy chairs, and a bar. There might have been some kind of group room in the back, I just saw people coming out of it, but we sat at the bar and enjoyed the ambiance. The bartender there was very personable, chatting with all the customers and open to making recommendations. I enjoyed a lovely port that was reasonably priced, and my study-mate got a canned beer from the fridge section (happy hour pricing was great). This was a very cute place with a good variety of wine options, plus items for the non-wine drinkers (albeit not a ton). This was a fun place and I would definitely stop in here again. Glad we found it!

We didn't indulge in any food here, but the menu offerings did look tasty. There are specials throughout the week, so be sure to check online to take advantage. My friend got a wine flight, with some helpful input from our server as to her preferences so he could steer her well. He was attentive and friendly, but also seemed to balance well the idea that we were there to enjoy some wine and talk because it had been a while since we had been able to see each other. Refreshed beverages were prompt after we asked, and we didn't need to say much about our water- he made sure that was full! Overall, greatly enjoyed, and always prefer to find a locally owned, well run wine bar, which Zin seemed to be!

To accompany our happy hour wines my son and I ordered two of his favorite things: Mixed Mediterranean Olives ($5.50) and a Spanish cheese ($9). Perhaps I've spent too long in the Bay Area or perhaps they do things differently in Arkansas but the mountainous bowl of olives that arrived at our table sparked utter joy. This wasn't 5, 10, or even 15 olives; I think it might've been a whole jar's worth. It was not only amusing, but an utter delight. One hundred percent chance of a return visit for the olives alone. We followed with the Spanish cheese and more wine but there was no getting beyond the olives. That's what we'd be talking about. Forever. By the Glass has a good happy hour ($5/glass for selected wine) which pertains only to the wines. It's a low-key, comfortable, unpretentious spot that's received recognition as the best bar, the best wine bar, the best trendy bar, and the best happy hour bar from a variety of publications. During my visit it was quiet and welcoming, an environment I'd feel equally comfortable in either solo or with friends. If you like wine, "By the Glass" is a good find. If you like olives it's even better.

He personally showed up at our doorstep, made sure we had our dinner, and helped resolve all of the electronic ordering issues. That level of customer service is incredibly rare. Carl is amazing! And then we tasted the food--and somehow it matched the service. The entrée was fabulous. The combination of the protein, cheese, and pasta was delicious, but then came the bread and butter. Oh my goodness, the bread and butter! I normally avoid bread and eat very few carbs, but I ate every bit of it. The bread was wonderful, and the butter took it to another level. Everything was delicious, and nothing was left behind. Exceptional food paired with truly exceptional service. Thank you, Carl, for turning what could have been a frustrating ordering experience into such a wonderful evening. We will absolutely be back!

The whole thing was a big disappointment. I had the spaghetti and meatballs. The meatballs were obviously leftover. They were hard and dry. After tasting a meatball, I didnt eat them. The meat sauce was ok, but flooded the dish and smothered the pasta. My wife's pasta dish was just OK. Actually, the server pointed out a guy in the kitchen and said he was a Michelin rated chef...sorry, but no way. Doing a search, I read that there are no Michelin rated chefs in Hot Springs. I ordered an expensive glass of red wine and it was served in a small white wine glass. Anyway, I'm not going to waste my time bashing J&S. I think I've made myself clear. It was a total disappointment and a waste of $120.00. Obviously, we wont be going back.

Because of the great experience I had at lunch, I decided to take my wife there on Thursday night for dinner. Let me be clear: Dinner was a hit! I will start with the Atmosphere. I will be honest, the atmosphere is nice enough. The place is clean for sure. It is not as comfortable a place as some and is reminiscent of many restaurants I have been to. By that I mean, it is almost formulaic in it's set up. Nothing about it is unique or screams Arkansas or Little Rock to me. That is OK, I just want to be clear about the ambiance of the place. I still would give it a four out of five stars on ambiance. That said, it only gets better from here! For starters, we shared the fried green tomatoes with shrimp appetizer, and it was superb! As good as any you will find in NOLA and definitely the best in Arkansas. I highly recommend. For our main courses, my wife had the bacon wrapped filet and I had the rib-eye. We had never tried Samantha's steaks before and I hate to think what all we have been missing because our steaks were cooked to perfection and tasted amazing. We shared a side of cheese grits and couldn't had a better meal! For our dessert, we shared a slice of their key lime pie, and again, it was wonderful. A strong five star rating for the food here at Samantha's for sure. As good as the food was, our server Taylor was about the best I have seen in Little Rock since the days of Ashley's at the Capitol hotel. Every dish we ordered that I just described was a recommendation from Taylor. I love it when someone knows their stuff and she was super knowledgeable, with just the right amount of tending to us. Not too much looking over our shoulder every two minutes, but always there when we needed her. Samantha's is lucky to have her on their team. Another strong five star rating regarding service. Can't wait to go back. I feel like they are hitting their stride at Samantha's!

Lastly, what ended up being a "concept" of key lime pie. Presentation glorious, a dinner sized plate decorated with swirls and a decent size helping of a sweet item. Well, I am happy to report that it IS true, that Petit & Keet is an outstanding restaurant. We made it in, in time for their terrific happy hour at the bar. Packed at 5:00 PM on a Tuesday (who woulda thunk that?) we were able to squeeze in and jump in on their goodies. The HH Menu was so appealing we would up just tasting several things; for starters, their signature frozen drink, the Peechy Keet, was absolutely phenomenal (it might also be because it was over 100 degrees outside). Not too sweet, nicely fruity and packing a punch. The Crudites was atypical with a larger assortment of veggies (including some tasty Sheshido peppers) and a really, unique and delish hummus. Next up; the Tuna Tostada. This could actually be my favorite item on the menu; sashimi grade tuna on a larger Tostada, perfectly marinated. Yummy. We topped things off with the Empanadas' that were also delectable; plenty of filling, not overly fried so as to be firm but chewable. I can't believe we wound up being stuffed, and sadly, it prevented us from diving into what looked like some wonderful entrees. Next time! A special note to the management; your bartender (sorry, her name escapes me, but she's in the pic with my wife and me) was as phenomenal as the food & drink (and the decor; sorry I hadn't mentioned that before, but it is a lovely space). She was everything (and more) for what someone behind the bar should be, an expert concotionist, professional, fun (and funny) and on top of everything at a packed bar/restaurant. Can you say "deserves a raise" with me? Also, loved the story of the place on the menu. It feels great to see a local place like Petit and Keet deliver top notch food, service and environment.
