Traveling through and decided to stop for a sit down dinner and received phenomenal food and service! The pizza was delicious with fresh ingredients, but we did wish the crust wasn't as soft (which is why they would have received 4.5). We got the fried risotto balls and biancaneve for appetizers and were very satisfied! As others have mentioned, we walked in and saw signs that said order up front and then they told us to pick a table before we ordered so that was confusing but definitely not a big deal to us. Not much is open on Sundays in Springfield, but here was and had good reviews so we came for lunch. All three of us ordered pizzas and shared a slice with the others, so I was able to try the fig and prosciutto, margherita, and vesuvio. I enjoyed all of them, but would only order the latter two again. There wasn't anything wrong with the fig and prosciutto, I just thought the other two were better. I also had a strawberry soda that was okay but also not worth ordering again. You order at the counter and your food gets brought out, so there wasn't the traditional service. But someone came by to see if we were enjoying our meals, which was nice. This is a good choice if in the area. read more

Oh my goodness was the food delicious! I last visited this restaurant pre-Covid and our group had such TERRIBLE SERVICE I've never returned. Gave them a second chance tonight since they have made it all this time. Food was OUTSTANDING! However, I was taken aback by having to order at the counter. And then, after our appetizers they forgot our pizza. Multiple excuses were given, but no retribution was made. We watched pizza after pizza be delivered to tables who ordered after us. We ended up taking it to go and being late for our event at the Hoogland down the street. Very DISAPPOINTED to have bad service yet again. Their web site says they have Vegan Cheese as an option. I call and an Indian lady answers. On 3 separate occasions, I request "vegan cheese." She says yes yes. I pay $15 for the pizza and halfway back to school, I open the box and it looks like real cheese. I call back and a man answers and says they've never had vegan cheese. I explain that it's on the menu on their official web site which has their phone number and address and that I told the lady vegan multiple times and she said yes. Thought we would check out someplace different this weekend. Had a great pizza and a salad. They have some local brews available as well as non alcoholic drinks including espresso. Great food and nice atmosphere. Owner is super nice! You can bring drinks from Terra Ferment or order pizza and they will deliver food to there there too. I almost gave this place 0 stars, because the first 4 times I visited I was unable to order what I wanted or unable to get waited on. I had spoken to the owner before, really nice guy and prides himself on serving authentic Italian food & specifically pizzas, so I had to try the food before I posted...well I finally had one and man they nailed it. Authentic, crisp, light, flavorful, all of the above. These are authentic brick oven Italian pies, and worth the wait. Service can be a little slow, but I give him a lot of respect for staying open late on weeknights and Sundays while the rest of downtown is dead. So far we've only had the pizza and often (but not always) as takeout. They do a great selection of pretty authentic Italian-style pizza--delicate crust, range of toppings (i,e. not all tomato sauce & moz). We got a salad once--the take out portion was kind of small, but good ingredients & dressing. Wine by the glass or carafe was fine. Super pleasant service--feels like a small family place. We were in town for youth hockey and wanted to try a local spot for some pizza. Our hotel was close and yelp had some good reviews. Short of it, we ordered a couple pizzas which were great. A couple things to note: 1. If eating in, you order at the register then they give you a number so you can go seat yourself. 2. If you want to order to go, I suggest calling them first and making the order. We were a bit confused to start, and decided to simply order the pizzas to go since the hotel was so close. After ordering (and providing my name) we sat to the side, but still in view, to wait. After 30min of sitting (and both servers seeing us waiting) I had to walk up to the same register attendee who acted like he had never seen us before. Once I asked for the status of our food, he goes back and brings it out to us. The pizzas were warm, but barely. So they had been ready for awhile. Again, the pizza was good. Everyone seemed nice. The food portions for pasta were small. The ambiance is lacking, and you grab your drink out of a fridge. That should've been my sign. The service was poor. SO glad I stopped in! I chose the 'pick two' for $10 lunch special, which included an entree, salad, and fountain drink. My food - smoked salmon over bow tie pasta and a berry/spinach salad - was delivered promptly to my table, and had the added bonuses of warm crusty bread, dipping oil, and grated parmesan. Everything was delicious; it was an excellent lunch with great service for a bargain price. My only regret is not trying this place sooner! I hope they never close! Truly the first time I've had authentic Italian - absolutely incredible. The food is absolutely incomparable - I highly recommend the Napoli pizza - every component is perfection and balanced. The cannoloni was also delicious and buttery. The bread with cheese and sauce for an appetizer is delicious - my husband raves about it. We also got the Tiramisu (yum!) and the blueberry cheesecake (pretty good but kind of grainy). Michael and the other fella working the front was great and personable and friendly. Cute little place - you do have to order at the counter then find a seat. If you're looking for delicious and genuine Italian cuisine that won't break the bank, this is place to go in Springfield. I found this place because it is within walking distance of the Abraham Lincoln Doubletree hotel. It has a very warm family atmosphere. I was here with five other people, four of them visiting from outside of the country and who were looking for good Italian food. For appetizers, we had the shrimp scampi which was very flavorful. We also had freshly baked bread that was soft and went well with the olive oil. The main courses varied; some had the lasagna while others had the traditional carbonara pasta and the mushroom ravioli. I had the monthly special, salmon carbonara pasta. Everything tasted awesome and you could tell that it was made with love. My friends were very impressed with the wine selection and enjoyed a red wine from Italy to go with their meal. As an extra treat, the chef herself (she's from Sicily) came out to greet us and treated us with freshly made cannoli. The owner and the server were super cool as well and really took pride in making sure that we had an excellent experience. I'm not sure when I'll be back in Springfield again, but when I do, I'm definitely coming back here and trying the pizza. read more

Came during the lunch hour and so glad we came in! The service is impeccable and I hear its a restaurant where its common to see the owner greeting folks. It comes with the benefits of quick service of a fast food joint but all the flavors and ambience of a sit-down restaurant. Ordered the Alfredo Linguini and Lamb Gyro. During lunch you can do the pick 2 for 10$ so its a great value for the amount of food you can get. I was satisfied with the meal would just add to prepare yourself on the amount of cream in the Linguini. I recommend adding on some protein when you order! The pita bread and sauce hit the spot. My family and I drove into Springfield on a Friday night. I called La Piazza To see if they had in house dining During the COVID-19 pandemic and also to see if they were busy. The restaurant is walking distance from our hotel. Not only did they have the dining room open, our table was ready when we got there. While we were there we were treated like we were royalty. This place is a gem. Very casual. Not expensive. They do a good business with takeout pizza so don't let the quieter dining room fool you. The bread looked and smelled fresh and gorgeous although I didn't eat any despite being offered a lovely plate of complementary bread with accoutrements. Had a salad and meatballs and the food was well crafted and plated purposefully. Served by ?HS/college?students over summer months and they were all professional and great.
