Since I was in high school, I have been enjoying La Piazza at multiple locations. I'm originally from Plainview and that location was walking distance from my school. It was a frequent lunch stop where I would get a chicken marsala and focaccia slice. 20 years later, I live in Merrick and enjoy the location here as well. I'm happy to say the marsala slice is still a menu highlight, but can't seem to get there when they have the focaccia (if they still do). Everyone talks about their buffalo chicken slice, which is very tasty, but there needs to be more love for their veggie slice, which is one of the best I've ever had. Under a layer of baked broccoli, peppers, mushrooms is this baked creamy texture of cheese and then their delicious sturdy crust. I could eat here every day. The resurrection of their focaccia slice would bring this 4 star review to a five. read more

Really good food. Fast service even tho the place was packed. They did not rushed us and we were a group of 7. We will be coming back very soon. I have a very fresh and we'll seasoned chicken parmesano with spaghetti. Didn't take a picture because could wait to eat it. read more

This restaurant used to be my go to when I was in town. Sadly not anymore. Recently there and normally it is noisy but this particular night was ridiculous We waited over 45minutes for a salad and chicken parm. I asked the waitress to please pack it up we needed to go I couldn't stand the volume and needed to leave. To our surprise they charged $1.75 to chop a salad that wasn't chopped. Normally we would have ordered a fish dish so I wasn't aware of the overpriced salad and chicken parm. read more

Ate here for the first time today and it was very good. We were seated promptly upon arrival. Place seems to have a good lunch crowd and we just beat it the rush. The hostess was very pleasant and the waitress Rachel was absolutely wonderful. Very professional and helpful. The food was awesome and they are very accommodating with requests. I have been a customer for years when my sister and brother in law introduced me many years ago. Reminds me of the good ole' days with them. I love their calzones which are filled with ricotta and any topping that I request (in some restaurants it is hard to actually find the ricotta and toppings in the calzone! Big miss ). The pizza is delicious and full of toppings. My absolute favorite is the Pene ala Vodka. I take out so I cannot comment on service, but the food hits the spot for my cravings of authentic NY pizza. Great addition to the neighborhood. Iconic "not your average" pizza place. Elevated surroundings and creative pies, both brick oven and regular, are loaded with freshness and quality. Salads are terrific but pricey. Pastas are sometimes watery and "limp" so consider ordering them al dente. read more

I want to give them 5 stars because the food is so good but the service is not good at all. Came here for lunch today and had to wait over 40 minutes for my food. Who new a chicken parm hero took so long to make. Very disappointing. Hopefully they can improve their service. read more

The pizza is definitely better than the food. The behind the counter service is very quick and friendly. My favorite thing to get is the buffalo chicken slice. The decor is excellent. For Long Island pizza it's pretty good but a little pricey for what your getting. Loud atmosphere. Parking creates an unsafe environment. Was trying to park there, was only one spot in the very front. As it was the only spot and very hard to fit in I had to maneuver the car a bit. The people behind me proceeded to honk their horn the entire time I was trying to park. I finally gave up. When I went inside they proceeded to harass me inside the restaurant while the crew and hostess just watched. The food isn't THAT good to go back after dealing with that. read more

I've been coming to this place for years. The best thing here is honestly their pizza and the buffalo chicken slice which really can't be beaten. But major downfall, its like the only place in the world that doesn't give free refills on drinks, which I think is totally bizarre when I'm having a sit down dinner. I mean, can you even name another sit down place that actually does that? Also, the tomato sauce on their pasta is super bland and really brings down their dinner dishes. For an incredible meal every time this is my go to spot. I've eaten in more so than taking out, but everything here is great, delivery included. Eating in can be done so without breaking the bank for an Italian Restaurant. Calamari Arrabbiata, that's all you need to know. It is hands down the best Calamari dish I've ever had. Spicy, but not over the top, fresh crispy calamari, and tons of it. I think I'll need to get some tonight now that I'm thinking about it. Going on a week night they have specials on bottles of wine which my wife and I enjoy taking advantage of. Great little date spot, and though it can get busy, you are seated quickly and they are fully staffed so service is fast once you're seated. read more

Food is great! Manager is much to be desired. It was freezing the the restaurant last Thursday night when my girlfriend and I were having a slice. One of the servers asked to put the heat on because the customers were freezing, he said to pretend to put it on. Come on guy!!!! This place is a gold mine. We had my husband's 50th Birthday party at La Piazza in April. The food was great and the staff BEFORE the event was wonderful- especially the banquet manager who was so accommodating and lovely. On the day of our event though we were assigned a hostess who was terrible. Til this day no one talks about how great the food was (which it was) or how nice the place was- they talk about the mean hostess. It's almost become a joke. We had a DJ and she kept telling him to lower the music "because it would upset the little old ladies getting pizza on the other side", she would tell him when to play and what type of music should be played. We were originally told if any guests wanted mixed drinks, they could order and pay for it themselves. She refused to- she would say it's too much work for her to go inside and get it for them. We had to chase her for more water, soda, etc. We were also told by the banquet manager before booking the event that we could decorate as we liked. This woman would not let us decorate our way. She kept saying she has done so many of these events she knows what would work best and would actually rearrange things. She was also worried about the event after ours and was starting to prep for it in the middle of our event. It's a shame that the staff experiencing was so awful. I have a baby shower I'm planning now and would have loved to have it here but there's absolutely no way. read more

Usually love this place, but today was a definite FAIL on their part. Asked for a Buffalo Chicken Salad, but wanted to substitute grilled chicken. Was told that is not an option, that they absolutely will not substitute gilled chicken because it is more work....WTH!?!?!?! This place has great pizza and delicious dinner options, and a private party room. The decor is nice and its very clean. The only problem is the prices, for a casual pizza place that serves dinner. The prices are so high, almost every pasta dish is about $20. I could understand if they seperated the pizza ovens by a wall and made it look more upscale, and quieter... but that hasn't happened. read more

The personal-size wood oven pizzas are wonderful and actually big enough for 2 people. I really appreciate having the option of whole wheat crust. I'm also a big fan of the soups & the salads (esspecially with the add-on grilled shrimp, which are huge). The panini with grilled chicken, brocolli rabe and mozzarella is a garlicky delight. My spouse is addicted to the pasta with Bolognese sauce & homemade ricotta. Really, the food is great and the service is always just fine. Two people can eat like kings for $35.00, including 1 beer each. It's a very, very good value. Drawbacks? Well, the place is clearly the number one "date night" destination for Merrick teenagers. They tend to be pretty loud and obnoxious and mannerless. Also, in the winter, depending on where you are seated, expect to be hit with a blast of freezing air every time the front door opens, which is often. Very good consistent Italian restaurant. Their pizza is the best in the area. We have been eating there since it opened in Merrick and everything is well prepared and fresh. All their pizzas can be be bought by the slice and they do not let it sit there for hours until it is sold as they constantly will dispose of pizza staying there too long. They do a very large take out business and some of my family's favorites are the chicken roll (like a rolled chicken parmigiana) served with sauce on the side and the panini's. For the kids the pizza is excellent and an order of chicken fingers will feed two kids. The serving staff is generally very attentive. read more

I had my first taste of La Piazza catered at a friends party. It was so good that I decided to go there for dinner with a group of friends. Oh boy, should have just lived with the fond memories of how good the food was. So we ordered meatballs and spaghetti, meat lasagna, pappardelle with bolognese, plain slice, chicken parm and I forgot what Bob ordered, oh I ordered the pecan salad. Anyway, the pecan salad was as good as I remembered it, though others at the table wasn't impressed. The food arrived.....finally, and......the meatballs where tough, the spaghetti was watery! Like they where running low on sauce and they added water to make it last watery! The chicken parm was a thumbs up, my pappardelle with bolognese *sigh* was disappointing. Bland. The lasagna was O.K. As was the plain slice. Perhaps they should stick to catering and pizza slices. Now for my pet peeve, service...busy Friday night, impatient waitress, slow with the service, quick with the check. read more
