Picture the scene: we are in the process of moving out, so we're wearing grubby workout clothes and smell faintly of the stresses of the day, neither of us has any energy and all we want is something fast and simple to eat so we can pass out before we leave Paris tomorrow. We're wondering the Marais in search of something not staffed by glamazons and off-duty models that doesn't have a gazillion smokers haunting the outside and the terrace. Oh and it's a Thursday night, at 9:30pm, in August.
Needless to say we struggled, and the La Paulette came to our rescue. The red lipsticked, super short wearing waitress didn't bat an eye at our disrespectful outfits and our simple salad and tartine were served promptly, even leaving us time and room for a reasonably (could have been warmer) fondant au chocolat.
Loved the slate serving plates, and the big communal tables half in and out of the little terrace. Simple cuisine, decent ingredients and nice people. If I'm ever in need again I shall definitely pop by, bet it would be a great lunch place. read more
