We stumbled upon this bakery near our hotel, and it was one of the few spots open early on a Sunday morning. When we arrived, there was a small line of locals out the door, which is always a promising sign. We ordered a croissant and an apple tart, both of which were delightful.
The croissant was excellent, with a rich butter flavor. It wasn't as light and airy as some others I've had in Paris, but the dough had a satisfying bite, while still being perfectly flaky on the outside and moist on the inside.
The apple tart was delicious, though I didn't get to enjoy it in the park as planned due to some overly enthusiastic bees. I saved it for later in the hotel room, and despite a few slightly burnt edges along the bottom, the crust was flaky, and the filling was just the right balance of sweetness.
We returned later in the afternoon hoping for a sandwich, but by then, the bakery had sold out of almost everything except bread -- a testament to its popularity!
Overall, a great spot for a morning pastry, especially if you're staying nearby. read more
