They have the classic flavors as well as unique flavors. I tried their popular Queso or "cheese" flavored ice cream with a berry jam. It was creamy and decadent. I also tried the pickle paleta with chamoy & hot Cheetos! The pickle paleta had a slight sweetness to it but tasted exactly like a pickle! I would opt out of the chamoy and only add the hot Cheetos. If you're a pickle lover and haven't tried hot Cheetos with pickles you're missing out! While similar in the type of dessert, La Paleta offers a more intimate, mom and pop shop service and atmosphere. To start, the shop is huge. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. There are table top games towards the back, labeled appropriately by age. I really appreciated that attention to detail. What really sold me was the video gaming table with old school, pixelated Mario Kart, Street Fighter, Kirby, and a wide selection of nostalgic gaming. What a fun way to keep customers entertained! We definitely took advantage of this and played til close! When my friend and I strolled in, we were greeted by, I believe the owner. He was incredibly friendly and patient with us as we were overwhelmed by the options. I love that we were able to select a few flavors to sample. On top of that, the owner took it upon himself to talk through the other flavors and happily allowed us to sample the ones we didn't gravitate towards initially. He also gave us samples of other menu items which was so darn kind! Let me tell you - all of the flavors at La Paleta are so rich and delicious. From ube, to queso, to lime - all of these flavors were incredible! It was so hard to choose. We ultimately got Paleta bars with recommended combos by the owner. My friend got Nutella banana with nuts and condensed milk. I got a strawberries and cream bar with condensed milk and graham crackers - my god was this the perfect combo. It was rich and creamy without being overwhelmingly sweet. And it was only less than $5! There are punch cards available here, with a reward after your fifth purchase. If you are craving paleta, ice cream or other Mexican desserts like street corn and fruit cups, I definitely recommend staying clear of the rush at Chinatown. Just happened to see the OPEN sign on and came in. Boy am I glad I did!!! I was greeted by the owners. A lovely couple and their young daughter tended to me and my friends. They mentioned that today was the 2nd day of their soft opening. 2/14/22 is their GRAND OPENING!! They are located on Grand Canyon and Russell. Their sign hasn't come in yet due to Pandemic induced delays. So it's the old Milk-T spot behind the 76 gas station. They make all their Ice cream and Sorbets from scratch. Trust me, the flavors do not disappoint! They were so kind to allow me to taste literally every single flavor! I personally loved their Cappuccino, Cajeta and tequila flavor. Yes! You read me right.... I said Tequila! All the flavors made my taste buds SING and crave for more! They offer so much more, I didn't get a chance to really study the menu.
