When we got to Procida, we went to Marina di Corricella and walked by the waterfront restaurants trying to decide where to eat. La Lampara sits high above the marina providing a nice view. But I can not say enough about the amazing food experience. Don't waste your time and money on the standard dishes. This place and it's food we ordered you can not find anywhere in the US. I will never forget what we ate. We had the Seafood Caprese to start. It's two mozzarella filled with anchovies and smoked swordfish. My wife order the seared tuna and I had the fried salted cod. Each were excellent and well worth it. But the dessert was something I will never ever forget. The lemon tiramisu!!!!! Excellent food. I told my wife that when I grow old and suffer from dementia, I will likely forget everyone's name but I will never forget La Lampara. :-)

This second story gem is down at sea level in the port of Pozzuoli, and I have eaten there about twenty times. Be advised: the menu is very, very limited. You can get a starter of octopus or a plate of olives. There are a couple of seafood pastas and risotto pescatore. Then you can get some fish or some fried calamari or shrimp. That's about it. But the guys who run the place are great, and I love to watch them interact with foreigners --- by which I mean anyone who lives more than ten miles away!! I first ate here in about 1986, and the young guy that was our waiter then was our waiter in April of this year, and one of the old cooks was still down in the kitchen. Don Antonio and his wife are long gone, but his son is still there every night it is open. I highly recommend this place for an adventurous eater, but don't go there and waste a table if you are wanting some sort of special fancy meal. Though its pretty much a stone throw away, ya can't swim to here. So rocky! Plus watching people stumble and crawl on those fishing boats is pretty much a bonus!! Alright so back to food. First and foremost: you gotta sit outside. No AC here! Doesn't matter how hot. You're lucky you have fans! Plus you get to see the beautiful Castle! It lit the area up substantially at night!! This island is wayyyyy worst when it comes to meat. Aka NOOOOO meat! Zeroooooo! My diet include 80% seafood regularly but this place got me craving meat after a while. The owner was kind, I ordered an amaro, we were told the menu was limited to pizza, that day. Well, we'd heard a thing or two about the Italian's pizza expertise, so we went for it, our first -- and one of the most memorable -- pizza sessions of our stay, on or off the mainland. This is just my take, but seems to me most Italian restaurants get the whole Napolitan recipe right. The secret to marvelous pie is forking into the whole thing as soon as it comes outta the oven, like, as close to burn-your-tongue as possible.
