We had a 4 course dinner that was phenomenal. From steak tartar to halibut, sordfish, duck and dessert. The servers were attentive but not overbearing. Great place for a special dinner. Not good for big groups or children. Dress is smart casual. Ask to see the wine cellar.

Only 30 people can sit at the tables but no one can sit at the bar. I've come here before and they always had a fantastic piano player and it was a fun environment. Now, it is just boring. The two stars is for the service, which is attentive. Zero stars for the cost of the drinks. The cost of the drinks was undisclosed to our group until the bill arrived. €22 for a small stoli martini, which is equivalent to about US$25, is outrageous. Take a look at some of the other charges. I have included the receipt so you will know what you will be in for.... €14for a simple small Manhattan? It was mostly vermouth. €11 for a small shot glass of Sambuca? One scotch, which was approximately 1 ounce, if that, in a glass filled with stones, was €18! My friends were remarking how the stones seemed to absorb all of the scotch! Really! The bill came to €83 and when we looked at the transfer to American dollars on the charge card, it's just about $100. I could've eaten a good dinner at the restaurant for that price. The drinks for really small servings. It's not like you are getting sizeable drinls. The issue I have with this place is they do not tell you what the cost of the drinks are in advance. and there was no drink menus provided on seating. They just ask what you want to order with no menu in sight. This is not a large city in America, such as New York, but they are charging equivalent prices. If you go, you definitely want to ask what you will be charged in advance . After being charged US$100 for just a few drinks and a couple coffees, we felt cheated. There was nothing special about the drinks or the environment. We won't be back.

The sauce was flavorful and rich without feeling heavy, the root vegetables were prepared perfectly and tasted delicious in combination with the cream sauce, and the chicken was moist with crisp thin skin. For dessert I had the Tarte au citron, it was beautifully prepared and garnished. The dessert stood up to the presentation, the lemon was the perfect combination of sweetness and tart. The atmosphere in the restaurant is very cozy and welcoming. Be prepared and make a reservation, this place is always full, and rightfully so. They have nailed it.

I highly recommend making a reservation as this place is quite busy. There is no parking lot and limited street parking. I highly suggest parking at the Parkhaus Luisenplatz and walking. We shared the beet salad which was made with beets, chickpeas, goat cheese, onions, and yogurt. It was delicious and just enough for an appetizer! For dinner I had the bouillabaisse and it was AMAZING!! Good quality seafood and a broth that was so perfectly flavored! For dessert I had the apple crumble and it was DELICIOUS!! You can tell that they put a lot of care and love into their dishes! The ambiance, food, and service were just perfect. I will definitely dine here again!

Some remnants of Alsatian heritage remain but flavour is definitely tipped to Mediterranean. They may as we re-namne it to reflect the changes. ***************************** Alsatian Bistro/Restaurant directly across from the Casino. NOt sure how long this place has been around. Whatvere was there before must have had a more modern style which the owners have only partly covered up with the rustic, Alsatian decor. Anyway, most of my party ordered Tarte Flambee so I didn't want to order a full-on meal. I did however order an abgeflämmte Ziegenkäse as an appetizer and it was delightful. Two flambeed goat cheese wheels adorned with ground nuts in pumpkin seed oil and a compote made of wine grapes. Cost around EUR9 but was very nicely turned out. Had a dry Alsatian Riesling which was commendable at EUR4.80 a glass. Wines ranged from 4.20 to 6.80 and I forgot to cehck bottle prices. There's not much I can say about the Flammmkuchen. Flammkuchen is Flammkuchen.kinda hard to screw up. Would stop by again to try the mains. All in all an OK but not spectacular place. Probably a nice place for a first date but not for an anniversary.
