For any lover of Etsy and artisan-made goods, La Lonja Mercatil is Mexico City's answer to those cries. This monthly traveling market happened to take place a weekend I was visiting the city and as a friend informed, it's where local designers and craftsmen mix with the cultured and well-fashioned public. For those with indie and hipster sensibilities, you'll be relieved to know that La Lonja speaks your language. The many vendors ranged from shoemakers to bag-makers and mezcal producers to watch designers - not to mention the gorgeous array of dining and bedroom textiles (colorful pillowcases and vibrant table cloths). I found the amazing creator of Boca MMXII watches, I now have 2 pairs from their awesome collection, and a handful of merchants selling one-of-a-kind capes, blouses, and jewelry. Just as much attention as the Lonja team puts into the retailers it selects, they put into the venue as well. The space that houses this avant-garde market is gorgeous in it's own right. Despite the fact that the fair moves to new locations regularly, you can always catch the most up-to-date location info on the website. Tip: a lot (if not all) of the vendors accept credit/debit payments and there's often some kind of food and beverage option from similarly cool vendors. read more

Lonja Mercantil surge en 2010 con el objetivo de promover y enaltecer lo Hecho en México. Es una plataforma que está inspirada en los tradicionales mercados sobre ruedas y que ha cambiado la manera de percibir y de consumir diseño nacional, gracias a que, de manera exitosa, une elementos que dan como resultado una experiencia única de compra.

Meet the Manager: Joanna R.

Joanna Ruiz Galindo vive y trabaja en la Ciudad de México. Estudió Mercadotecnia pero después de trabajar unos años en publicidad se intereso por el diseño. Estudios en distintas instituciones educativas en Madrid, Nueva York y la Ciudad de México. inicia en el diseño de interiores, trabajando en distintos estudios para posteriormente fundar Acento en la i y Jardín de Malva una despacho de diseño floral. Actualmente se dedica de lleno a promover diseño Nacional a través de dos proyectos que le apasionan, La lonja Mercantil y el Abierto Mexicano de Diseño.

For the $30 or so US dollar entry fee, the shirt, food and drink make registering worthwhile…read more The race, however, is crowded, which made for both a fun and frustrating experience. Fun because there were a lot of people, but also frustrating because there were a lot of people. I was hoping to finish in 2:15, but spotted a 2:10 minute pacer from the beginning who I attempted to keep up with. I lost sight of him on at least two separate occasions during the race not because I couldn't keep up with him, but because I couldn't get past the swaths of "runners" who were speed walking at best. Yes, the beginning part of the race opens up both sides of Paseo de la Reforma, but the second quarter of the course leading up to Santa Fe is relatively narrow for 25,000 participants, making it difficult to actually run if you don't start closer to the front of the pack. Things start to open up toward the third quarter of the race throughout the Bosque de Chapultepec (a very large park), but then narrow back up as you're finishing on Reforma, where only one side is open at that point. Overall, there were plenty of hydration stations and medical staff, but between the amount of people who should not have been ahead of me based on finish times, and the not-so-good road conditions in Mexico City, I'm stuck at 3 stars. Would I do it again? Yes. In fact, I'm running the full marathon in a month, but I'll be sure to start closer to the front so I don't get stuck again behind the masses.

We went to this place and it was closed. Unless we had the wrong address...don't go to Tabasco 119.
