We didn't make it to the San Ángel neighborhood when we visited Mexico City for the first time in 2023, but we visited a couple of weeks ago when we returned to Mexico City. It's a lovely neighborhood - well worth a visit for people visiting the city. One of the reason it's so great? Plaza San Jacinto. The plaza is traditional, with a fountain in the center and paths leading to it from each corner and side of the plaza. With plenty of trees, benches, and people, it's a great place for a walk/stroll or to sit on a bench and listen to music or read or people watch. But the highlight of a visit to Plaza San Jacinto? Every Saturday, it hosts the Bazaar Sábado - a traditional market of hundreds of artists, artisans, and sellers of almost everything you can imagine. We were lucky to be walking through the Plaza around 6pm on a Saturday (the market is from 10am-7pm every Saturday), and it was such a treat. But on every side of the Plaza are gorgeous buildings that house shops, restaurants, and a museum (Museo Casa del Risco), making the Plaza and its surroundings a great place to spend a few hours! read more

Plaza San Jacinto is just a twenty-minute walk from the Museo Casa Estudio Diego Rivera y Frida Kahlo and visiting both makes for a great Saturday. The Saturday artist market in the plaza always includes a wealth of talented painters lining the pathways although kitsch and craft has crept in since tourists discovered the market. I still deeply regret not buying a fantastic almost-abstract landscape painting years ago and that stayed in my mind as I strolled through the plaza and the thin stone streets of San Ángel. read more

I had a great time visiting Plaza San Jacinto. It was recommended by YELP MEXICO and it didn't disappoint. The only issue was the day I visited - a Thursday and not the weekend. I missed out on the artist market which is exactly what I envisioned when going. I wanted to stroll through the park and look at different types of work but on Thursday....there was nothing but people making out. The plaza is beautiful, well maintained, and of course lots of coffee shops/food stands. Within the park, you get to see monuments that are dedicated to individuals who've done something for the country. My tip: If you plan on visiting Plaza Jacinto go on a Saturday-not a weekday. read more

Plaza San Jacinto - Parks Near Me - México, D.F., DIF

Plaza San Jacinto is a short Uber ride away from the heart of the city - it cost about 102.95 MEX or 5.67 USD to get from Chapultepec Park to this Plaza. I definitely recommend a trip to this neighborhood: San Angel. I went on Saturday mainly to visit the market. The market takes over the entire area. There were some touristy things for purchase, but there was an overwhelming amount of gorgeous local art work of all sizes. There are so many vendors jam packed into the park and the sidewalks leading up to it. I highly recommend a stop at the market (Saturday only). When in the area there are near by museums also worth visiting. Check out my reviews on Museo del Carmen and Museo Casa del Risco del Centro Cultural Isidro Fabela. Also stop into visit the church adjacent to the park. read more
