This is one of my favourite restaurants in the Barcelona area. As soon as you walk in you feel at home (La Llar means home in Catalan). This is a family run restaurant where you can have a cheap and very relaxed meal. Don't expect anything fancy, but do expect very good quality homely, almost comfort, food. The owners are very friendly and will consider any request.
The style of food is typically Catalan, with pa amb tomaquet (tomato bread) served with every meal. Almost all the dishes contain meat, therefore not really a place for vegetarians, however there are normally a couple of fish dishes on the menu too.
At lunch time there is a very good price set menu including drinks and you will not feel hungry when you leave. On Saturday and Sunday the set menu price increases, but so does the quantity and quality of the food.
Highly recommended (by me at least) are the mejillas de cerdo al horno (pig's cheeks cooked in the oven). They are so tender and come in a delicious sauce. read more
