So for lunch on a Tuesday we were craving something a little different. La Juguera has food options that make you feel like you're in another country. They have a wide selection of food by the pound, exotic fruits and vegetables. Years ago when they were Palacio De Los Jugos I used to get their delicious tropical fruit salad. And YAY they still have that. But on this Tuesday we decided to get wild and got a 1lb chicharrón, tamales, and a loaf of Cuban bread. The chicharrón had plenty of meat as well as yummy fried fat. The tamales were delicious. And can we say they had a gorgeous loaf of Cuban bread? Yes!! Service was ok. Ambience is basically take out. Someone recommended this place for their "Chicharrones" and I'm glad I checked them out. They were hot, crispy and with lots of meat on them (sorry forgot to take a pic) we devoured them. I have been going to this privately owned Cuban Market for years. All the procedures here are very fresh and they have great juices squeezed right in front of you. We ordered two sandwiches their turkey and the famous Cuban steak sandwich. Both of the sandwiches were great portions and very tasty, the breads were perfectly toasted. I really love coming to La Juguera Tropical. In the ventanilla they have the most delicious fresh juices I've ever had. One of my favorite flavors is the guava and I also enjoy the watermelon juice. Their croquettes are exquisite and so are their Cuban sandwiches. The staff is always courteous, efficient and kind. Inside they sell fruits and some vegetables that are in season. They also sell fresh ground sweet corn that is delicious to make corn stew. They have an entire section of ready made meals, I've purchased a few items and have enjoyed their seasoning. The entire space is kept immediately clean and organized. Finally, they have an incredible terrace where you can sit and enjoy your goodies. We've been visiting this place often during the pandemic because of the huge outdoor space. read more

The ladies are all mom's and grandma's and as such treat everyone like their family and thoroughly enjoy feeding people. You can buy juice here by the jug, fresh squeezed. Alongside the fresh market inside. For the most part you'll order food and eat amid conversation on the bar height tables and be on your way to work within minutes. They have a healthy supply of pastries too. It is a hard bargain to beat when you consider how expensive the city is and when you account for how much quality cooking you get for $4. This little supermarket packs a serious punch! It is one of the best assorted groceries I have seen in a while, not only serving sandwiches, pastries and coffee from a window, but selling produce, canned goods, fruits, bread, hot food, juices, etc. It is literally your one stop shop. I find myself periodically around this area, and I have always been attracted by this grocery. From outside it looks small, cozy, a bit out of place with the cabana/hut look that it sports. I stopped by one day because I was looking for fresh passion fruit. The joke is, I didn't find passion fruit, but I found a lot of other things. I scored some Mexican herbs (not Acapulco Gold) used to cook and to make drinks, I also found a lot of exotic tropical fruits and, of course, regular veggies. While I walked around, I saw they served food from hot trays. It all looked good, although I didn't get any food to go. Like I said before, this is a small shop with lots of items. If you were to ask me where to go, I would point you to the counter that is on the left wing of the building. This is where you find the juices, the cheeses, the bread, and most importantly, the fried pork. Now, I challenge you to go look at those trays of fried pork chunks and pork rinds and remain vegetarian. I am not against vegetarianism, for all its reasons, as a matter of fact I embrace vegetarianism in my diet, but if someone else killed the pig and fried it, how could you not grab a piece (I know, I know, no need to send me angry messages...). Anyway, this "little" grocery is not so small. It is packed with good food ready to eat, and lots of exotic fruits and vegetables, some that are everyday staples in Hispanic homes, some that belong in any home that loves ethnic ingredients. It is seriously well assorted. So, like others have mentioned, this is like a "Palacio" on Miller Drive. If you asked me which of the two do I like better, I am going with La Juguera Tropical. We come here to pick up lechón at least once a week because the flavor is the best in Miami in our opinion. I came today to pick up lechón, rice and yuca for my family and was shocked at how ridiculously overpriced white rice and yuca for 8 people was -$42.70. It was your average medium width and length tray for both. You can get rice and yuca for 8 people at Sedanos or El Palacio de los Jugos for less than half the price. And the rice and yuca was as average as you can get. I will not be coming back. Maybe for lechón. But not for rice and yuca. Rethink your prices. Absolutely ridiculous. read more

Yes, I have been here many times, and yes I haven't written a review yet. This is a small market/juice bar with cafeteria style food and a walk up window where you can order the usual café con leche, breakfast, sandwiches, or pastries. They have prepared foods inside that you can order to take to go or if you choose to eat there, there are some tables outside. Their market includes a variety of fresh fruit and small variety of fresh veggies. They have a wide selection of juices that you can order in a cup ($2.50 for a large) or half a gallon (around $6 for most of them). My usual go-to is called a "tres en uno" which consists of a combination of: orange juice, carrot juice, and beet juice. I prefer this place compared to other juice spots because their price is super good and I like that their juices are not extra sweet (I hate when they start adding unnecessary extra sugar). I have tried their scrambled eggs and toast breakfast several times it comes with a small café con leche and the best part is that you can order it at any time. Only downside is that sometimes they add too much salt so I tell them to go light on the salt on the eggs. From the cafeteria I have only ordered a steak sandwich, the meat was overly salty to my taste buds, I guess next time I have to tell them to go low on the salt. This little shop is about as Miami as it gets. Their prices are incredibly affordable--you can get snacks like a good-sized empanada for $1, or meals with big portions for $5ish. They serve fresh-squeezed fruit juices--I would definitely recommend the passion fruit juices; good ones are hard to find and theirs are divine. If you're looking for a little treat that reminds you of Hispanic culture, I recommend the guava paired with a slice of fresh, white cheese; this is a cheap treat and incredibly delicious. The cafeteria also serves Cuban breakfasts, which are delicious and will not put a dent in your pocket. They also have a small market inside where I always find the best tomatoes and avocados. The employees speak English and Spanish, but they prefer--and often start out--speaking Spanish. They have an outside area where you can sit and eat with family and friends, and they have a few tables in front of the cafeteria for people to wait on. The busiest times are generally early morning, when you have to wait in a small line for less than 5 mins. This is my neighborhood jugo place. It is a typical Miami window-service type place (which I'm a huge sucker for!). I usually get the pan con lechón. It's decent but sometimes can be overly salty and/or too dry. I also get the guarapo here which is pretty good. The service here isn't the warmest but I find it pretty typical for the type of place and the area, so it doesn't bother me much. This place is also a little market, with some gems like Lila's desserts! All in all, La Juguera Tropical is pretty good and does the job when I crave some guarapo near home. read more

They got it boy. La Juguera is a cafe and mini-market rolled into one. You've got the cafe on the exterior with plenty of counter space to chew the fat (literally) alone or with your compadres. And then you've got the mini-market that offers anything from fresh squeezed juices, to cooked corn on the cob, to value-priced fruits and veggies. It's a store with all the staples and they're conveniently located on the corner of 101st and 56th. Parking is a breeze and if you need gas, there's a station across the street. As far as the sandwiches go, there's nothing that will blow your mind. But the flavor is there and pricing is right. They sell in big quantities so I can go a few hours before my party and pick up morros, fried plantains and pork, chicken, beef etc. Did I mention the deserts? Oh heaven ! They have so many to choose from! Tres leches, flan, arroz con leche and freshly cut fruits. They have a take out window where you can get your typical Cuban style sandwiches, shakes and a quick colada. I use to come here a lot for their fresh half gallon juices. I stopped buying the watermelon because even though they would say they did not add sugar, clearly not true as the juice was always overly sweet for regular watermelon. I continued to buy coconut but after the 3 rd time of driving 7.5 miles from south kendall and them not having any I gave up. I now buy my fresh coconut water on Sundays at the kendall farmers market which is absolutely the best. This last purchase I made at the juguera was for a half gallon of orange juice and the very next morning when I served for breakfast I could smell rotten oranges. Don't mind I bought on Thursday at almost 5pm and Friday I opened at 8am. I really wanted to take it back but couldn't take the drive that weekend so I ended up throwing it out. They should be checking their oranges instead of leaving rotten ones and throwing them into machine. Simple quality control. Makes me wonder about the rest of the foods they offer. Fruits, shakes and latin plates...La Juguera Tropical is a little market filled with authentic delights. Had passed by many times before deciding to stop in. It definitely isn't the most spacious or modern looking but everywhere you look you can find colorful and tasty looking goodies. Various fruits and vegetables are packed into boxes in the produce section and in glass cases towards the back are various cheeses and pig products. Even cashew nuts (still in the tree's shell) and tamarind were available. I also saw lots of pastellitos and guava treats being devoured nearby. Along with traditional Cuban sandwiches. Fresh fruit shakes can be made to order, and we actually saw the woman at the counter cutting up a huge container of fresh strawberries to make mine. It had a bit more ice than I would have liked but it was decent. From the same counter we were able to get arepas and churros (I've had better of both though). They've also got a huge buffet-style hot counter where you can get chicharrones, masas de lomo de puerco, rices and other assorted dishes. Prices are reasonable.
