This small cute Boba shop is located in a strip mall next to medical Plaza. It is very clean and it shares a space with crispy burger next-door. There are some seating inside the restaurant which is nice. And there was a counter with a menu on the TV screens on what to order. The young lady that was helping me was super patient and helpful and my questions on recommending me items that weren't super sweet, but she said they were adjustable as well. She mentioned that the tea was adjustable and sugar levels, but the Vietnamese iced coffee was made with condensed milk traditionally so the sweetness was not adjustable. I ordered the Vietnamese ice coffee with Ben's foam and it was delicious! The banana foam did not have an artificial taste and lightened up the coffee. Pricing was great too especially the size of coffee I received. She validated my parking as well so that was nice. Parking is like $3 for 15 minutes not $1 and the parking thing was very slow and pretty much broken. A huge line ended up forming to get out, but I understand it's not the boba shops fault, but the plaza itself. If the faulty parking device wasn't so bad, I would revisit. read more

The Crispy Burger store at the Regents Marketplace in La Jolla shares its space with La Jolla Boba. The two businesses replaced a taco shop and salad spot that were operated by the same ownership group. Parking can be validated if you bring the ticket to the service counter where an employee can authorize the charge to be free during a visit. Otherwise, the rate was $1 per 15 minutes. Upon walking into the double suite, La Jolla Boba was straight ahead and to the right. You could place an order using the self-service tablet stand or at the counter. The beverage categories were classics, specialties, and hot drinks (teas, Vietnamese coffee). Serving sizes for the boba teas were regular 20 oz and large 24 oz. For the regular size, it cost $5 for a classic and $6 for a specialty. For the large size, it was one dollar more for each category. Toppings cost $1 each. I arrived during a weekday lunch hour. To my disappointment, the brown sugar boba was not available because it was still being warmed up. The wait was around 40 minutes before the pearls would be ready. I don't understand why the boba wasn't prepared before the business opened at 11:00. It's a planning issue that the staff needs to rectify. My order was a large Passionfruit Green Tea with less ice and no toppings. The tea flavor wasn't strong as it was obscured by the fruity sweetness. The cost for my drink was $6.21 plus sales tax. That meant a 3.5% fee was added without an explanation. I assume it was a service or convenience charge that should have been described on the receipt. Came by here since I was in the area and it was a very nice experience. A cool place to grab a drink (and a burger if you'd like since it's connected to another shop) and hang, the menu had a nice selection. Ended up with a lavender milk tea (good but a bit sweet, boba was chewy) and a La Jolla Shores (so cool looking, sweet but it is cotton candy flavored!). Come down to San Diego for a conference and this is across from the hotel. The drink is rather good and they definitely put a lot of fruit or boba into the drinks. Once you order using the kiosk, they make the drinks rather quickly depending on the amount of people there at the time. It does share a building with another restaurant but it is still a nice setting. We loved the drinks and have been back twice now. read more

I wanted to like this place, but unfortunately it wasn't as great as I had hoped. Even at 1/2 sweet, my drink was too sweet and didn't have as much tea flavor as I had hoped. I likely won't be back. After driving around aimlessly in the paid parking nightmare that is la jolla (locals shouldn't have to pay, just sayin'), I settled on this spot for a quick treat and some computer work while my man got his self care sauna and cryo on at Chill N Out. I loved my oatmilk matcha boba drink! note to reader, I have not had boba in like more than a decade so I don't feel like im experienced enough to have a well researched and educated opinion about authentic or chef's kiss boba. BUT I LOVED IT! and which i ordered the bigger one, and which i had known it was much easier to suck up the boba when there was still liquid in the cup. may have unlocked a new treat obsession. if only it was lavender/rosemary flavored, OMG i would be floored. the place shared space with crispy burger and there is two entrances to the shared space. the manager/owner person was so nice, and proactive. she saw i was working on my laptop and suggested i sit at the tables with power/charging stations. I absolutely love this boba spot. Such a convenient location and they validate parking. The owner is extremely sweet. You can tell she really wants all the clients to be satisfied with the service and quality of drinks and food. She uses authentic Taiwanese boba, not the plastic instant kind and she doesn't. It any corners on quality of products. I always customized my order and she is always happy to change or modify or even come up with an idea herself. I ordered a matcha drink here and was incredibly disappointed. It didn't taste like matcha at all. It was basically just sweet milk with a faint green tint. No earthy flavor, no depth, nothing remotely close to what matcha should taste like. When I asked if I could exchange it for a different drink, the server declined and simply asked if I wanted to add more sweetener... which made no sense, since the problem wasn't that it wasn't sweet, it was that it didn't taste like matcha at all. I tried La Jolla Boba for the first time and got the matcha latte and lychee refresher. I thought the lychee refresher was a little too sweet for me, but the flavor was nice.
