This review is equally skipped the dishes fault. I contact the company right after placing the order because of an allergy and the employee told me they can't guarantee no cross-contamination because they won't wash their hands or equipment between orders. FIne, then cancel my order... they wouldn't. Skip the dishes wouldn't. Horse shit, you hadn't started the food yet. I like Indian restaurants, and I go often to the ones in the Boston area where I live. This was as good as the best ones in Boston. Excellent food. The place was packed on a Wednesday night, after 9 pm, in an area where there is competition from other Indian and also Middle eastern restaurants. We ordered three different dishes, and all three were excellent. The Garlic Naan was the best one I remember having anywhere. Very good each time been here (5 times). Their Indian is worth the drive if live in any other part of the city, but their phony chinese dishes are dreadful. I guess they are trying to attract the many chinese and vietnamese living in the NE, but it doesn't work if your kitchen has not cooked Manchurian or Hakka. Have had their achari and regular chicken tikka, fish vindaloo, curries, garlic naan and basmati rice (medium grain). Naan mostly fluffy and delish, and goodly portions of the meats in each dish. We've had the best of Indian elsewhere, but this is pretty good! If want what we call excellent Indian, try Punjabi at Mehtab in Cochrane and ask for full flavours. If want decent Chinese, try Silver Dragon dim sum, Great Taste Chinese full-flavour beef noodle soup in Chinatown, or T.Pot peppercorn shrimp in Harvest Hills (too bad excellence is spotty!). In this city, it's hard to get cuisine that across the board is really superb: rare now is the resto that gets most of their dishes right! For after 14 years living in Asia, got spoiled by varied Chinese, Vietnamese and Indian cooking styles. Check out La Jawab? La Jawaab is consistently good, be it their CHAATS, CURRIES or HAKKA Chinese food. - MANGO LASSI- was refreshing and not overtly sweet. The drink was done before I could get a picture. - PAPRI Chaat- the sweet and tangy flavors reminded me of the chaats back home - PANI PURI- this is hands down my favorite kind of street food and La Jawaab does a great version. - HONEY GARLIC CAULIFLOWER- This is one of our favorite dishes from this restaurant. Crispy cauliflower in a hakka style sauce never disappoints - TAWA CHICKEN- Suggested by the manager, this chicken dish was delicious and went very well with the GARLIC NAAN and LACCHA PARATHA I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who wants to have some good Indian food in the city. I've been able to travel all around the US and different parts of the world and let me tell you. If you are ever in the Calgary area you must try this food! It is flavorful, rich, and very delicious. La Jawab also spelt, Lajawab, serves indian and Hakka Chinese cuisine. What impressed me about this place was the service. The owner or manager always made sure we had enough water and never made us wait when we needed more naan :) They have equal amounts of dishes for vegetarians and meat lovers :) Actually, if you include the appetizers, there's actually more vegetarian dishes. We came here with a group of friends and ordered two kinds of Daal (yellow and black lentils), plain naan, garlic naan and butter naan, vegetarian pakoras with chick peas, another appetizer I can't remember the name of, butter chicken lol, garlic chili prawns, and a couple of other dishes I can't remember either hahaha *sigh* :( But, I will tell you this; the food is good here and worth a visit. The thing is, I love indian food, pakistani food, punjabi food like anything from that part of the world and I've been to many "indian" restaurants and its never the same... like noway nohow; everyone has their own little twist on the same dishes, its so hard to benchmark anything. Its pretty much about the handful of dishes or maybe theres just 2 that you really like at one restaurant that will make you come back for more. Maybe its the service and maybe its just that they have amazing Chai :) So, from my experience and comparing it with the many, many, many indian restaurants I've dined at in my life, La Jawab deserves 4 stars. All I can say is that you can expect to have a consistent experience here, their naan was very good, and their dishes had the right amount of quantity. Great service and delicious food, even though we had to wait a while for the chai, it didnt matter too much to me; more talking and catching up with old friends. oh yeah! and their Gulab Jamin and Rasmalai were really good. Excellent service! The service makes the restaurant absolutely a pleasure to visit. The food is delicious and portion sizes are also good. Prices are fair. My only comment is that they charge for yogurt- this should be no different than the free chutney accompaniments and should be included especially since some guests may find the food spicy. read more

So happy with this place. We had troubles finding it - it's kind of nestled in behind another mall - but worth the search. We had the lamb kebobs to start and then shared the coconut chicken and a goat curry with coconut rice and butter naan. All were hot, delicious and in huge portions. The staff was friendly and gave suggestions on what to try. And the masala tea was lovely. We didn't have dessert because we were so full, but they have an attached sweet shop which tempted us. I love their Manchurian Hakka Chicken and Noodles, the taste is extraordinary.I am also a fan of every veg and meat dish on the menu. They carry Milk badam and damn is too dieeeeeee for! They also have a sweet shop just right next door. Tasty and high quality Mitai(Indian Sweets),and I must say, I love the pastries also, they are like pastries from back home. Everything light including sugar. Chocolate, Strawberry and (Mango I think.) They have it all really!! A little bit of everything. Even the restaurant caters , if that is an option your looking for, and you know what, the owners are 100% professional. This is one of my favourite restaurants. Whenever we are in Calgary or passing through, we always stop here. Chilli Chicken at this location is so flavourful and delicious. Called in advance to tell them I want to eat "apna" style, home/our style. And they met that through and through. All the vegetarian dishes were distinct, flavorful and great portioned. Sooo good. We had butter chicken along with a very good tandoori chicken. Both were amazing. Decided to accompany the chicken dishes with some veggie byriani and a paneer dish and they were pretty awesome. The service was for the most part very friendly but would like some of the staff to at least pretend they are happy. But if you want some Indian food in a different location try this place out. read more

I had their Gol Gappay and they were ok, I've been looking around someplace that makes them the way they made them in India, but I haven't found one place in Calgary yet and I've tried almost every restaurant! We went there with a few friends and had kardhai chicken, daal and Manchurian noodles with rice, naan and badam milk. The dishes were great with a lot of flavor. But the naan was ok... it wasn't made properly, was heavy and felt under cooked because so the dough didn't rise fully so couldn't eat much of it. The Manchurian noodles were really good with rice. I'd go back just for that!! The service could be better but it's the North East... so any kind of service is better than most restaurants around here. I know if I want professional service than I'd have to go to a restaurant in downtown Calgary! read more

Food was ok but the owners are rude and unprofessional the two little guys. The ethics and honesty and politeness is missing big time. One last thing I want to mention just check your bill before u pay. Whenever they get a chance will charge you extra.
